Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 151 Unable to Find Galatea, Alaric Went Crazy
Upon hearing that Galatea's phone was turned off and seeing that it was already dark outside, Alaric suddenly felt a wave of panic.
He recalled the previous accident Galatea had been in, and now his mind was filled with negative thoughts. Alaric called again, but it was still switched off, and the more he thought about it, the more frightened he became. Alaric then called Galatea's driver, James, who reported truthfully. "After leaving the hotel, Young Madam said she wanted to take a drive around. I drove around for an hour, and then she said she was tired and wanted to go home. I dropped her off at her building, and she said she wouldn't need the car for the rest of the day."
Galatea had gone home instead of going to the store.
Alaric hurried to Galatea's home, where Auntie opened the door. Not recognizing Alaric, she asked him, "Sir, who are you looking for?"
"Is Galatea at home now?"Alaric quickly asked.
"She came back around noon but left again later."
"Where did Galatea go?"
"She didn't say."
Confirming that Galatea wasn't at home, Alaric left in a hurry. As he descended the stairs, he realized that it had started to rain.
Already anxious, the rain intensified his unease, filling him with worry.
Alaric drove rapidly to Galatea's store, but it was closed and locked. Seeing that Galatea wasn't there, Alaric could hear his own heartbeat clearly, pounding as if it wanted to burst out. Especially after the previous accident, where Galatea had narrowly escaped death, and knowing that her body hadn't fully recovered, any further mishap would be disastrous.
Alaric's worry seemed to have completely overridden his rationality; he couldn't objectively analyze the situation. He quickly called Silas Moon. "Hello, Mr. Alaric."
"You immediately found out the surveillance footage near Galatea's home from noon, seeing which direction she went, and then checked the surveillance along that route." Silas didn't know what was happening, but he understood the urgency of Alaric's request.
"Alright, I'll do it right away."
After the call with Silas, Alaric couldn't stay in place and drove around while continuously calling Galatea, who remained unreachable with her phone switched off. To make matters worse, the rain was getting heavier. 'Galatea, where are you? What happened? Why is your phone switched off?' Alaric was extremely anxious, his mind filled with negative scenarios.
Was Galatea kidnapped? Did she have another accident, and this time the culprit fled the scene? The more Alaric thought about these possibilities, the more frightened he became, trapped in a vicious cycle of escalating fear. At that moment, although Galatea hadn't encountered the accidents Alaric feared, her situation was still dire.
Galatea had been at the cemetery on the hill, and as night fell, she tried to call for a ride but found her phone had unexpectedly run out of battery and turned off.
The cemetery was remote, situated on a hill with no streetlights and no passing vehicles. To make matters worse, it started to rain, forcing Galatea to run downhill in the rain.
The distance didn't seem far when she had come by car, but now, walking down in the dark and rain, the road felt endless, with no signs of light in sight.
Already in a terrible mood, Galatea now felt even more overwhelmed because she couldn't find any source of light and couldn't see an end to her journey. Walking and crying, she couldn't tell if her face was wet from rain or tears. Just as Galatea was on the verge of a complete breakdown, a car's headlights pierced through the rain in the darkness.
On such a rainy night, the appearance of a vehicle initially frightened Galatea, but the car stopped beside her.
Half an hour earlier, Alaric finally received a call from Silas.
"Mr. Alaric, we found out that the car Young Madam took disappeared on Stellar Avenue. Although there's no surveillance footage on the subsequent roads, that road only leads to Yusong Cemetery."
Alaric couldn't fathom why Galatea had suddenly gone to the cemetery, but at least now he knew she was safe. He was relieved that she had taken a taxi by herself, ruling out kidnapping or another accident.
Driving along Stellar Avenue, Alaric finally spotted Galatea, and his heart finally eased.
To Galatea, seeing Alaric getting out of the car, no one knew the depth of her gratitude at that moment.
It was like seeing a light shining in the darkness of despair, which instantly calmed her.
"You don't answer the phone, then your phone is switched off. Do you know how worried I've been?" Alaric was furious and couldn't help but scold Galatea.
Although he was scolding her, Alaric was also busy taking off his coat to cover Galatea. He lifted her into the car and held her closely.
Inside the car, Alaric quickly turned on the heater, handing Galatea a towel to dry her drenched hair.
"I've told you countless times to answer the phone. I've assigned James to you. If you need help, you should find James. Why did you take a taxi to the mountain at this time? It's late, and with the rain pouring down. What if something happened to you?"
Alaric continued scolding, but to Galatea, it felt strangely reassuring..
Feeling overwhelmed, she threw herself into Alaric's arms, holding him tightly, her voice hoarse as she said, "I'm sorry."
Galatea knew she must have lost her mind, but since returning home, she had been thinking about Ambrose's words and Brennan's death.
She just wanted to go to Brennan's grave to release a cry, something she didn't want anyone to know about, which was why she had declined the driver James that Alaric had arranged.
Later, as night fell, it started to rain, and most crucially, her phone had run out of battery. These were all things she hadn't anticipated.
Initially exploding with anger, Alaric couldn't help but scold Galatea, but her simple apology made him feel guilty.
He had promised to treat her well, so he shouldn't have been so harsh.
"Alright, let's go to the lounge and take a hot bath first. Don't catch a cold." Alaric's tone had softened.
Galatea nodded.
After that, as Alaric drove, Galatea curled up in the passenger seat, occasionally sniffing.
Alaric didn't know what had happened, but he was certain Galatea wouldn't have acted this way without reason. They didn't exchange many words on the way to Nexus Innovations, and by the time they arrived, it was already the late hours of the night. Alaric carried Galatea into his lounge and put her down.
In the room, Alaric quickly prepared the hot water for Galatea and said. "Go take a shower first."
