Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1432
Tiffanie's tears mixed with the rain, making it hard to tell if she was crying or just soaked from the downpour. When Mason finally found her, he let out a relieved sigh and quickly called Max to call off the search party. "Mason, let me go with you to the hospital," Tiffanie said softly as she climbed into the car.
Mason looked at her for a long moment before he replied, "I'm fine."
He really didn't feel any pain, at least not physically. Tiffanie wanted to argue, but how could she? Tonight's chaos was her doing, and Mason had just been caught in the crossfire. She couldn't shake the thought-would Mason's life be better without her constant drama? Even though she knew it was unfair, the doubt lingered.
When they got home, Tiffanie wanted to check his injuries, but Mason had other ideas. He led her to the bathroom, filled the tub with warm water, and they both slipped in. The tub was big enough for the two of them to relax comfortably.
Seeing the bruises on his knee and thigh, Tiffanie realized he must have been hit hard. "Mason, we really should go to the hospital," she gently insisted. But Mason just continued to wash her gently, as if he hadn't heard her. After their bath, he tried to lift her, but the movement made his leg twinge with pain. Tiffanie noticed immediately, and her fingers brushed over the bruises, massaging them gently before she leaned in and kissed them softly. "Does it hurt, Mason?"
Her boldness took him back to when they first met, when Tiffanie would tease him with flirty gestures and
innocent eyes that belied the mischief behind them. Without saying a word, Mason carried her to the bed, his desire undeniable Feeling guilty and wanting to make amends, Tiffanie wrapped her arms around him as they came together. Mason stayed silent until the end, then captured her lips in a fierce kiss that left her breathless and her lip bitten.
The next day, Tiffanie had to visit her therapist. After a brief chat, the therapist pulled Mason aside.
"She's putting up walls again. Something's bothering her. You should try talking to her; she's not opening up to me."
Mason, lighting a cigarette, thought back on everything. He remembered seeing Tiffanie on surveillance with a laptop, which he found later in the trash outside his house. He took the laptop to his car and opened it, finding a USB still plugged in.
The files inside broke his heart. One video focused on little Tiffanie's eyes, full of innocence and despair. It was painful to watch, imagining adults unloading their frustrations on such a young child.
Tears welled up as he saw Victoria and Everett humiliating Tiffanie, making her act like a dog just to get a meal. She looked so fragile back then.
Her weak "woof" was met with laughter from Victoria and Everett, a cruel reminder of the abuse she endured.
