Mafia Billionaire’s Forlorn Wife -
Chapter 47
“…and then I saw her running down the stairs to where the car was and when she saw that I was there she looked like she was relieved beyond imagination. A second later Christopher came running after her and she suddenly got in the car and urged me to drive.”
I fist my hands, “did she look like she was trying to hide something?” I question Jordan. At the moment, we are sitting in the library at Tartarus again and I am only interested in investigating how long Arabella’s affair has been going on for.
She admitted to cheating on me and since that moment, the pain in my chest has only worsened. And right now, I just need enough proof of everything in order to make my next decision.
Jordan gives me a quizzical look at my question, “more like she was running from Christopher. I saw how scared she was, it looked like she had been running from him. The only reason he didn’t reach quicker to the car, is because he was limping down the stairs at the time.”
I furrow my brows at that, “limping?” I question.
“Yes, sir, and ma’am looked really scared and disheveled too.”
“What do you mean by that?”
My heart is beating wildly in my chest as he replies, “she was crying, it even looked like she had been crying for a while by that point. And then she was obviously running from Mr. Young. I don’t know what crap they are spreading about Mrs. Mikhailov but any woman who looks like she wants to save herself from a man is surely not going to be having an affair with him. She did ask me to not tell you everything but I am only saying what I think you need to hear.” He still looks like he is hiding something but I do not press him on it.
Jordan’s words strike a chord inside my chest as I think over them before asking, “anything else?”
He thinks for a moment before shaking his head side to side, “not really. That’s all that happened last night and then I dropped her off at Leo’s place.”
I nod my head gravely, thinking over Jordan’s words just before my phone starts to ring in my pocket.
Sighing, I pick it up when I see that it’s Nikolas, “Viktor’s having a little difficulty finding Christopher. But I did manage to find a footage from the Needle from last night and you are not going to enjoy what I have found. I was right about Arabella all along.”
My eyes widen as the phone almost slips from my grip and I realise that perhaps I have acted too soon as I say, “send it to me.”
“Already done.”
And at that, I remove the phone from my ear and instead open the video that Nikolas has just sent me.
Pressing play, I hold my breath for a second as it plays ahead.
Arabella comes running in from the directions of the bathroom while she finds herself standing in the middle of the empty space where the gala was held.
From the time stamp on the footage it is already past midnight and Arabella is looking around frantically and there is no sign of Christopher yet.
And then there is an unmistakable sound of the elevator doors opening and that is when Christopher walks into the frame.
Arabella sees him and she tries to step back from the man that she clearly looks more than uncomfortable from.
And that is when I watch the entire scene unfold in front of my eyes and I finally realise what crap I had been believing.
Christopher reveals about how it was Amelia who sent him there and my b***d is roaring through my veins as I realise the blunder that I have made. I spent the entire night with Amelia but not once did I doubt her.
My heart hurts in my chest as I watch the conversation play between Christopher and my wife and I understand that I have treated her in the worst manner possible.
Arabella merely relaxes herself for long enough to actually knee the guy in the nuts and then she runs towards the elevator and then disappears.
I watch as Christopher is quick to run after her and he too takes the next elevator down.
It is more than evident that Christopher wants her and he would go to any lengths to have her. The sooner that Viktor finds him, the better it will be, and the longer his death will be.
My mind is a raging palace of emotions running on overdrive as I ask, “why was Arabella still at the gala?”
Nikolas releases a deep sigh at that, “that is the part that you are not going to like. I always hated Amelia and really wanted to show you who she truly is, but I apologise in advance for the manner in which her truth is just about to be revealed to you. Flip onto the next video.”
My heart shudders in my chest as I click the play button with a shaky finger as I wonder what I am going to find here.
That is when my eyes widen as I watch the video from a camera that is mounted just outside the restrooms.
The door to the restroom is slightly ajar and from that, it can clearly be seen how Amelia steps out from one of the stalls and stands beside Arabella.
There is no sound to their conversation because the camera was too far from them but I can see that Arabella doesn’t even notice Amelia until Amelia grabs her by the back of her neck, clearly pulling on her ears as she drags her to the toilet stall.
My hands shiver violently as I watch Amelia push her inside and then she swipes up her phone and her bag from the counter before flicking on all the faucets of water.
The room starts flooding and then Amelia turns the light off and walks out of the restroom with an evil smirk on her lips.
“PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ME IN HERE!” Arabella’s voice is so loud and full of pain that it can be picked up by the camera but by then, Amelia is already out of the bathroom and the door is closed.
With an iron clad fist, I watch as Amelia pays the janitor outside to stay quiet about everything and then she throws Arabella’s phone in the trash and takes her purse and leaves.
The same purse that Amelia had been doling all night.
f**k.
How could I have not noticed how wrong Amelia had been all along?
I mean I knew that she wasn’t that stable mentally but what she did to Arabella is completely beyond measure and that is something that she will be getting extremely punished for.
My rage is filling my veins like pure lava and I know for a fact that I will make sure to make Amelia and Christopher pay for what they have done to Arabella.
That is when my breathing stops for a moment. That is when I realise the things that I have been doing to her instead. I am the one who has given her the most pain and I am the one who has caused her the most harm.
The stunning realisation almost sends me to my knees but I control myself and realise that I need to apologise to Arabella as soon as f*****g possible. I need to bring her back home and make her feel safe. She has already suffered enough and I need to show her that I do care about her wellbeing.
I meet Jordan’s eyes who looks equally worried since from the angle that he is currently sitting in, he can clearly see the videos that I have just received.
“Get the car ready.” I order him in a disheartened voice but with the hint of urgency being more than evident.
Jordan doesn’t waste another second before he nods and is walking out of the room while understanding the gravity of this situation.
That is when I speak to Nikolas again, “find Amelia and detain her.” I growl, letting my anger overpower me at just the thought of that woman.
“On it.” And saying that, Nikolas ends the call.
However, just as I stand up with the intention of going to Leo’s place and apologising to Arabella, my phone rings once again and I find out that it is Leo calling me.
I hold my breath for a second, immediately picking up the call, “Ivy, I’m so sorry, thank god you called—”
“Where the f**k have you taken her?” Leo doesn’t register my words and questions me instead and that has my brows furrowing.
“What do you mean? I haven’t taken her anywhere. I was in fact on my way to your place so I can say sorry—”
“Oh, you’re going to be sorry for this, Mikhailov. I just left to get her some medicine and when I came back my entire place was trashed and she was nowhere to be found. Someone took her and I will bet my entire trust fund that it was you.” He hisses.
But now all I can think about is that my wife has been taken.
She’s in danger and I wasn’t there to protect her.
f**k.
