Chapter 58
Turns out I had about fifty people spread out all over my place; how the f**k that happened on such short notice was beyond me and that wasn’t counting children. I could still hear bikes pulling up outside which meant it was about to get even more crowded.
Mom and Char had dragged their husbands along with Drake and Cyrus off to get food to feed the masses, though she’d been sure to warn me that this was in no way the official engagement party she would be throwing us in the near future. Which meant I’d be decked out in a monkey suit and paraded in front of her friends.
“Isn’t this great? Like everyone showed up.” My girl flew into my arms her excitement contagious; I was busy checking our liquor content, the parents said they’d cover everything including beer but I know my guys when it came to celebrations; beer always gave way to hard liquor.
I’m not really much of a drinker so whatever I had usually stayed around for a while. Looked like I was pretty much covered with tequila, whiskey, cognac, vodka and rum. That ought to do it; I grabbed her up reveling in her excitement. She wrapped her arms around my neck holding on tight.
“I’m so happy Colton, thank you.” F**k, a houseful of people and my baby’s being sweet as f**k; I guess I could hold off on plowing her for the next few hours or so.
“I’m happy too baby, very, very happy. Mouth.” She found my lips with hers and we stole a k**s before we had to go be hosts again.
It turned out to be a f**k awesome party with well over a hundred people; most of my crew came out with their women and children to show their support.
Who couldn’t make it called with congrats. Mom was in her element, she loved a good party so she manned the food or bossed dad and Drake into doing it, which freed up Kat and me to socialize with everyone.
Cyrus was mingling, getting to know the members he’d yet to meet. By now most people knew his story so they knew he was one of us. Kat for all her excitement made sure that he was happy.
She’d only cried like three times throughout the night; by the third time I’d stopped stressing over it when I realized they were tears of joy and it was just one of those female things.
By the end of the night after everyone had been fed and watered we sat around with our nearest and dearest. Of course the women were all about wedding plans; I didn’t have the first f*****g clue.
“Just tell me when and where and I’ll show up.”
“Oh no you don’t son, those days are over, nowadays the man plays just as big a part in the planning as the bride.”
I just looked at Kat to see if she agreed with mom; f**k she wanted me involved. Why the f**k couldn’t anything be easy? didn’t it used to be the guy only had to show up in a monkey suit say the words and get the f**k on with it?
All this metro s****l modern man shit was a pain in my a*s, but with my girl looking at me like it would be the most important thing in the world if I did this what the f**k was I supposed to do?
“Okay sign me up but can’t we just get one of those people that tell you where to go and what to do and all you have to do is show the f**k up……?”
“You guys got engaged without me?” My little sister came screaming into the room and headed right for Kat who was sitting on my lap.
“Carol aren’t you supposed to be in school?”
“Yeah mom but Kat called with the news and I told Jason he had to get me here, it only took us three hours. Not to worry I’m heading back tomorrow but there was no way I was missing this.”
“Come in sit down pull up a chair; we were just waiting for your brother to tell us how we have to have someone tell us how and what to do for the wedding.”
“You mean a wedding planner, there is no way, I’m taking care of everything please let me.”
“Carol how are you going to do that and handle school?”
“Mom I can do it I have time right what are we looking at a year, two?”
“Try two months.”
“Colton there’s no way we can pull off a wedding in that short space of time.”
“Two months mom that’s it and don’t tell me it can’t be done; we just entertained one hundred or more people without any notice.”
“But a wedding is different it takes planning everything has to be perfect.” I looked at my Angel again and thank heavens she seemed to be with me on this one. I gave her a gentle squeeze before turning back to my mom.
“No, two months that’s it.” There was a lot of huffing and complaining from the women but I stuck to my guns. I knew one way to get Elena to see my side of things.
“If I have to wait a year or two to do the deed that means we’ll have to wait that long to get pregnant…” I just dropped my little bomb and left it there.
“Dammit you don’t play fair son; okay hmm, Char we’ve got work to do.”
“Good, that’s settled now can I have some peace?”
“Son you just told these women that you’re willing to take part in the planning stage of a wedding that you then insisted has to take place in two months time I’m thinking for your peace is a thing of the past.” Dad didn’t seem too high to follow along.
“Well f**k.” Drake, Cyrus and dad seemed to find that shit hilarious while my two brothers-in-law seemed to share my pain. Whatever; if it kept that look on my baby’s face fine; I was all for it.
