Lyon
Chapter 47

Colton and I are at a standoff; it’s a little unnerving but liberating all the same. I know now that there’ll be times when we disagree but that doesn’t mean he’ll leave me, which for some reason was one of my biggest fears.

I’ve never been in a relationship before obviously so I’m not quite sure how these things work. My parents had called it quits before I came along and I’ve never had the opportunity to see the inner workings of one up close and personal. I have no frame of reference to draw from.

Colt on the other hand comes from a solid background with two parents who were still very much in love with each other though I tended to think he played by his own rules and not by anything he’d learned growing up in that household. I can’t imagine Daniel being with Elena the way Colt is with me.

The phone rang just as I was about to head out to the shop to see about an order I’d placed. It was Carol calling to see if I wanted to go to the next town over with her and some friends. It was the perfect opportunity for me to get out and away for a while since things were so tense between Colton and I so I accepted.

I was only too happy to impart the news to him as soon as I got to the shop.

“So Carol invited me out tonight with some friends.”

He just picked his head up and looked at me before going back to what he was doing.

“How are you getting there?”

“Driving I guess.”

“Where is it that you’re going?”

“I think she said they’re going for dinner and a movie; some new flick Carol wants to see.”

“That’s cool, I guess I’ll be going solo tonight.”

And that was that; I thought for sure he would put up a fuss, after all he wouldn’t even let me stay home alone. It didn’t make sense that he had no problem with me going out for a night out with the girls unless I was totally misreading the situation which I didn’t think I was.

That night I dressed for the best effect. After my little fiasco a few weeks ago wearing lingerie outside I was very careful with my wardrobe but I wanted to show off my new tattoo. I knew Colton would have a fit if he saw the halter style top I planned on wearing so I paired it with a light jacket over my slim fit jeans with my new three-inch mules.

“I’m ready.” He was in the kitchen fixing himself dinner which he likes to do, says it relaxes him.

“Okay Angel, your phone’s on and charged?”

“Yep.”

“You have money, change, everything you need?”

“Yes sir.” He smirked at my little slip of the tongue.

“Have fun baby call if you need me.”

I kissed him goodbye and almost changed my mind; he was being so sweet I felt bad about going just to spite him but I couldn’t very well back out now, shit.

I bit my tongue and watched her go out the door counting to a hundred in my head. I know this is her power play, she’s trying to prove her independence to me.

If I’d argued with her we would both have walked away scarred. She has no real idea even after what she’d been through. I’ve seen some shit and heard of worse and there’s no f*****g way I’m leaving her out there like that, f**k that.

She could have her girl’s night out but I’ll be f****d if she was going to be unprotected. I called up Boris and Becky one of the couples that she hadn’t met as yet. They were pretty good at this shit and I knew if I followed her it’ll only make things worse so they will have to do.

The tracker in her car would tell me where she was but it wouldn’t have eyes on her inside the restaurant or the movie theater.

Call me possessive, yeah I give a f**k. I’d rather go overboard than stand over her torn and abused body any day.
