Lyon
Chapter 41

Six of us went out to the designated spot. For all that it was only a few minutes right outside of the city, it was a desolate, barren landscape perfect for our purposes. We had a little practice run through making sure there was enough space for what I had in mind.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing and being as normal as possible. There was no reason for anything to fall back on us, but I wanted to make absolutely certain that we were in the clear.

After Angel had been gone for a good three hours with no contact, I broke down and called her because I missed the f**k out of my girl. She answered with a laugh in her voice. Good I wouldn’t have to f**k Tina up for hurting her, looks like.

“Were your ears ringing? I was just about to call you, I miss you.”

“Yeah me too, you good over there, baby?”

“Uh huh, we’re just catching up.”

F*****g women, they talk everyday on the phone, but they still have something to catch up on, go figure.

“Okay, sweetie, make sure you don’t go anywhere without letting me know first okay.”

“Okay, we’re not going anywhere, just going to stay around here I think. What are you guys doing, am I missing anything?”

“Nah, we’re laying low, baby, this trip was mostly for you.” She didn’t need to know that was a double entendre.

“Listen, the crew found a place where they have that singing shit that you women like so much, and I was thinking you might enjoy that.”

“You mean karaoke?”

“Sounds about right, you game?”

“Sure, I guess, I don’t know about me singing though, maybe Linda and some of the others might want to.”

“Whatever, babe, as long as you’re having fun, but I might have to cut out for half an hour or so. I’m expecting a call later on in the night, and because of the time difference, it’s gonna put me at one o’clock in the morning, or there about, local time.”

“Okay, anything wrong?”

“Nah, just gotta talk to a guy about some shit.”

“Okay, then I guess I’ll see you in a little bit.”

I could hear Tina in the background joking about the fact that we couldn’t even go for a few measly hours without talking to each other. Looks like she was getting over her bullshit whatever it was.

“Stay safe, baby, I’ll be there to get you soon.” We said our goodbyes, and I glared the f***s who were all in my business to silence, or at least I tried to.

“Shut the f**k up, Storm.”

“I didn’t say anything, bro.”

“Yeah, but I can hear you thinking it.”

“F*****g sap.” The jerk laughed at me.

“F**k you.” I threw a playful punch, but the bastard blocked it.

“She’s got you rescuing old men off the street what’s next, stray cats and dogs? You going to turn into one of those grumpy old men with like a million cats collecting empty bottles and shit?”

“You’re one to talk, Tommy, Linda has your nuts in a drawer somewhere. When’s the last time she let you use them anyway?” We all knew we were just letting off some steam and relieving some of the stress of the night to come.

When I picked Angel up a couple hours later, she was all excited to see me.

I watched her all evening, wondering at the strangeness of life.

A few months ago, I didn’t even know this person, now she was my f*****g world. What I was about to do might very well put a blemish on my soul, I hope not, but hopefully I’ll be forgiven for ridding the world of another evil piece of shit whose only purpose was to prey on the weak.

I kept her close all night, kissing her every chance I got regardless of the snide remarks from my men, or the teasing she took from the women. It was a relaxed carefree atmosphere, just what I wanted.

When the time was about right Zack had slipped away to track our prey. He was known to frequent a place a couple of streets over almost every night, and he pretty much kept to the same routine.

He wasn’t very well liked in these parts, but because of his father’s money, he got away with shit. It appears that Katarina and her friend were not his first victims, and he was still up to his old tricks. But after tonight this little slice of earth will be free of one less a*****e.

When the call came Jared, Pete, Tommy, and Paul stood up to leave. They’d already told their women they needed to step out just as I’d told Angel earlier.

“You don’t leave this place until I get back, you hear me baby?”

“I hear you, I’ll be right here when you get back, though I think Linda is planning to drag me up there to sing.”

I looked towards the stage where some chick was muddling her way through Whitney Houston’s, I’ll always love you.

“You can’t be much worse than that, babe. I’ll try to be back in time to hear my baby do her thing.” I kissed her goodbye and held on tight for an extra minute.

“I love you so f*****g much, baby.”

“I love you too, you sure everything’s okay?” She was beginning to know me too well. She was giving me that look like she knew something was up but couldn’t quite put her finger on what.

“Everything’s golden, babe, no worries.”

I left, before I couldn’t, and followed my boys out the door.

“Let’s get this shit over with, you guys ready? Remember…”

“Boss, don’t start that shit again, we’re in, and that’s the end of it.”

“Okay, Tommy, let’s ride.”

Zack was in the big truck we’d commandeered for the night.

We picked up Taylor’s truck just before the turn off for the desert, and instead of letting him go straight on the highway, we closed him in and forced him to take the turn with Zack riding hard on his shoulder.

He laid on the horn, and I could see him flinging his arms around and yelling at us. Daddy’s little rich boy was accustomed to getting his way, he wasn’t accustomed to anyone f*****g with him, too bad.

When we’d got him to where we wanted him, far enough away from the highway, and into the dark desert night, we circled him with the bikes.

I could see the fear dawning on him through the windshield. He seemed almost frozen as he stared out at us trying to see who we were behind the shields of our helmets.

I got off my bike and approached the driver’s side door. He checked that it was locked and tried to reverse, but Zack’s truck had him locked in. I used the heavy chain link in my hand to break the window.

“What’re you doing, are you mad, do you know who I am?”

I didn’t bother answering him, I just threw the picture of the two girls through the window into his lap.

He turned white enough that I noticed that shit in the moonlight which was about the only light out here except for our headlights.

After I’d given him enough time to grasp the situation and plead for his pathetic life, which he did, I reached in and took the picture back before pulling him out through the window kicking and screaming.

My guys started up their bikes and got in position as I wrapped the chain around his f*****g neck. I said the only thing I had any intention of saying to him then. I whispered it in his ear.

“This is for Katarina.”

I dragged him into the middle of the circle of bikes where my men proceeded to lasso his legs and arms with their chains.

“Please, you can’t do this, it wasn’t my fault it was the meds man, please, you can’t do this.” He pleaded and screamed to no avail. I was deaf and blind to his plight, the lying f**k. Only last week he’d been up to his old tricks again. The meds my f*****g a*s.

Climbing back on my bike I revved up and pulled off with his screams in my ears. The five of us took our bikes in opposite directions with the chains wrapped around him and attached to the bikes, and it didn’t take long for his body to break under the pressure. His screams were chilling, but they were lost in the desert night.

I’d taken his head, and each of my guys had got a limb. He hadn’t been drawn, but the fucker had been quartered.
