Lyon
Chapter 110

“Hey Ms. Elena, we’re ready where’s Daniel?”

“He had to go into the hospital today. What’re you lot up to out here?”

“Mom, don’t you have pies in the oven?”

“I just came to see if you boys wanted some hot chocolate and a slice of my pie. We made plenty I think we might’ve gone a little overboard this year.”

“There’s no such thing as too much pie Ms. Elena”

“Zack.”

“Fine, I’ll have pie and chocolate after we help the Grinch fix his fence.”

“They’re not twelve Elena and take my kid back inside, it’s cold out here.”

“Colton Lyon I will have you know I’ve raised three kids you included. I know how to bundle her up against the cold.”

She sniffed at me and I rolled my eyes and started walking away as soon as Jared came into view.

“Go cook something ladies.” I knew that would get her going, at least she would be too focused on that to wonder about what Jared was carrying.

I walked far enough away to be out of earshot before turning to my men.

“Okay, some f**k is messing with my family. It’s no secret to all of you that I don’t trust that twit that ended up under Angel’s car but until I’m one hundred percent sure it’s her I can’t go strangle the bitch in her sleep.”

“Jared found some tracks back here this morning and it looks like the person was scoping out my house while staying hidden. Now I could either burn the shit down or put up electric fencing to keep her out and since I’m pretty sure the f*****g HOA would be on my a*s about a fire I’m going with door number two.”

“Shit, what did you find Jared?”

“Just some prints like Colt said, and the pattern in the brush says they were standing back there for a while looking in the direction of the house.”

“That’s f****d. I say we go question her.”

“I thought of that Pete but I don’t want to show my hand too soon. I still don’t know what she’s after and who she’s with or if she’s flying solo. I need more than what I’ve got to make a move which is why I’m putting someone on her from now on. We’ll take turns”

“Nah boss, you’ve got to be with your family if this shit is going on plus it’s the holidays. Why don’t you let us unmarried guys take that one off your hands? We ain’t got shit to do anyway.”

“I don’t want to ask that Gavin. Like you said, it’s the holidays”

“I think Gav is right, it’s nothing more than you would do for any one of us so it’s done. We’ll work it out boss don’t sweat it.”

“Thanks guys; now let’s get this fence fixed and hooked up to this electricity. The next time she tries cutting through this shit she’ll get the shock of her life.”

We got to work repairing the fence, which was a pain in the a*s, but we got it done in a fair amount of time. Setting new posts in the ground to hook up the solar operated electric charge took longer.

Just as promised, we were done in more than enough time to get ready for the evening and Elena fed the guys her pie and chocolate before they left.

We left the baby with mom and dad since they weren’t making the rounds with us. “Mom, she stays inside the house, if you want to show her off to your friends they’ll have to come here. Don’t forget she’s still teething and her fever has been touch and go for the past few days.” She gave me a look but I ignored her.

“Just some prints like Colt said, and the pattern in the brush says they were standing back there for a while looking in the direction of the house.”

“Colton, please go about your business you’re making me tired.”

“Yeah okay, I know you. Let me see what else”

“Boy, you’re worse than a mother hen. It’s embarrassing. Go have fun for crying out loud. You’re acting like this is our first time at the Rodeo. Daddy’s a little wound up isn’t he Caitie darling?” The pothead was relaxed in his recliner bouncing the baby on his knee.

“Oh yeah, he starts puffing away he better not do it where she can inhale that shimess.” Now it was the pothead’s turn to roll his eyes at me. Kat started dragging me towards the door and her parents were coming up the steps as we were leaving.

“What is this, a party?”

“Sort of, your mom invited a few people over to do Xmas stuff.”

“Shit, Elena” I turned back into the house.

“Colton, goodbye.” I grumbled all the way to my ride, at least Kat got a kick out of it.

It was the first time in a while that I had my woman on the back of a bike and even with the weather being the way it was it felt good.

“You sure that stuff is okay back there Colt?”

“Yep, I’ve used it before so it should be fine.” I’d hitched a carrier bag onto the back of the bike to carry the pies and shit because we always rode as a crew on these rides so no truck.

We met up with the guys and their women at the appointed place and headed into town. Sometimes the people would line up alongside the street like it was a parade or some shit because even though we tried to keep it hush-hush, word always got around anyway and the locals liked to show their support.
