Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 91
? ? ? ? ?
Cradled in Mitchel's arms was the fragile form of Raegan. Raegan's complexion matched the pallor of a blank page, and his forehead glistened with a layer of cold sweat.
Panicked, Mitchel tightened the hug and nervously blurted out, "What's happening?"
Clinging weakly to his wrist, Raegan implored, "My baby... It hurts...
Please save our baby..."
After saying this, Raegan fainted.
Mitchel's pupils suddenly constricted. Without a second thought, he scooped Raegan into his arms and walked into the hospital.
"Mr. Dixon. Henley stood up, his face marked with concern.
"Please take good care of her."
Stopping mid-step, Mitchel turned around and replied coldly, “Mind your own business. If you dare to touch her again, you won't get away with it so easily.
A trace of menace tinged Mitchel's voice, sending shivers down the spine of those who heard him.
Mitchel resumed his walk to the hospital.
The bodyguards discreetly looked at Henley, who was now battered. After all, he had been viciously beaten moments ago.
With one of his arms dislocated, Henley was still able to stand as if nothing had happened despite his other injuries. The bodyguards questioned the true extent of Henley's capabilities.
However, Henley didn't seem to care at all about his injuries as he walked steadily towards his car.
He settled into the back seat and dialed a number in an emotionless voice.
«Organize a pickup. Also, let him know that I accept his offer.
After hanging up the phone, Henley stretched his legs and leaned back on the seat with his eyes closed.
He mentally exclaimed that a man with a weak point was so easy to handle.
Would Mitchel go crazy if there really was something between him and Raegan?
A sly smile appeared on Henley's face in the darkness, amused by the mere thought. ……
At the hospital.
Looking at Raegan, now in the emergency room, the doctor asked, “Mr. Dixon, are you sure you want to cause an abortion? Saving the mother takes priority. Beyond that..."
Mitchel hesitated, clearly undecided.
To be honest, it was the best time to get rid of that child. After all, he still assumed he wasn't his son.
However, remembering Raegan's fierce determination to keep the baby, he knew that she would despise him if he caused the loss of her baby, and would certainly abandon him.
Weighing between Raegan and the boy, he realized he couldn't bear to lose her.
Grimacing, Mitchel spat while clenching his fists, “Try by all means to keep the baby!”
Hearing Mitchel's response, the medical team took Raegan to the operating room for further evaluation.
As he waited outside the emergency room, Mitchel remembered what Raegan had just said and a thought crossed his mind.
Could this baby be yours?
When Raegan regained consciousness, it was almost noon.
He felt a small sting on the back of his hand and stared at the clear tubing of the IV, watching the liquid slowly drip out.
An uneasy feeling gripped his heart when he saw a man in a suit standing next to his bed.
«Are you feeling better? Mitchel asked, emotionless, as he grabbed a cushion and tried to place it behind his back.
Before he could get close to Raegan, she threw the cushion to the floor.
She looked at him with icy eyes and blurted out: "What have you done to my baby?"
Mitchel's lips tightened and his face took on a somber tone.
Raegan's eyes boiled with such hatred that she saw nothing else.
His voice shook as he shouted, "Mitchel, you're a monster!"
"Do you still want to argue with me after all this?" Mitchel replied, frowning.
Seeing his lack of concern, Raegan ignored the IV needle in her hand and waved it angrily, saying, "Give me back my baby!"
His sudden movement caused the needle to pull on his skin, and blood oozed out instantly.
“Are you crazy, Raegan?” Mitchel exclaimed, his face contorted at the sight, gripping her hand tightly as his veins bulged with anguish.
The back of her delicate hand was swollen, and the needle flew out after the violent pull. The wound was bleeding, but Raegan didn't care at all.
She questioned Mitchel hysterically: "How can you be so cold-blooded and so ruthless? It was a slice of life! "It was my baby."
Mitchel turned pale, grabbed Raegan tightly, and muttered, "I didn't do anything."
Confused, Raegan asked, "What do you mean?"
Just then, a knock sounded on the door.
“Time to reroute bed No. 34,” the head nurse announced, entering with a medical cart. She stopped, surprised by the scene.
He ran over and scolded Mitchel, “What is going on here? The patient is very delicate. How could you shake it? You may seem refined, but your actions are barbaric. If this continues, I will call the authorities.
As she spoke those words, the head nurse felt a pang of apprehension. Mitchel's imposing bearing suggested that he had considerable power.
However, how could she intervene in the medical treatment, especially of someone as vulnerable as Raegan at that time? It wasn't hard to guess that Mitchel might have a volatile temperament behind closed doors.
Raegan looked to be the same age as her daughter, and this thought prompted the head nurse to overcome her initial doubts. He gathered his courage and continued: 'I suggest you leave now, sir. "His stay could negatively affect the patient's emotional state."
Mitchel paled and clenched his jaw. It was clear that the nurse's audacity had pissed him off.
However, he left without saying a word.
The suffocating atmosphere of the room dissipated as soon as Mitchel left.
Breathing a sigh of relief, the head nurse tended to the wound on Raegan's hand.
After some hesitation, Raegan asked, "Excuse me, can I know something about my baby?"
Concentrating on disinfecting Raegan's wound, the head nurse replied, "Don't worry. Needs additional feeding. The baby's growth is a little delayed, so the doctor has ordered a special nutritional supplement for you.
Clinging to the nurse's arm, Raegan asked anxiously, "Does this mean my baby is still alive?"
The nurse looked at her strangely and answered: "Of course."
For a moment, Raegan stood in disbelief, staring at the nurse in amazement.
The head nurse continued: “Your husband is truly extraordinary. The younger nurses were praising him this morning, talking about how handsome and attentive he is to you. I never thought he would behave like this with you.
Embarrassed, Raegan clarified: "It's not his fault. "I got so excited that I started the road myself."
The head nurse's eyes widened.
"So he didn't do it?"
Raegan shook her head.
Smiling sheepishly, the head nurse commented, “It seems I misjudged him. "He's been by your side all night."
However, Raegan couldn't help but speculate if Mitchel had stuck around to take advantage of the opportunity to hurt her when she was awake.
Changing the IV bag, the head nurse left without saying anything else.
Shortly after, the rhythmic sound of footsteps echoed in the hallway.
Feeling uneasy, Raegan instinctively didn't want to see Mitchel.
So he closed his eyes, pretending to sleep.
Mitchel entered the room, noticing the anxious trembling of Raegan's eyelashes.
He scoffed internally, thinking she was a bad actress.
Expressionlessly, he opened the lunch box, releasing the tasty aroma of porridge into the room.
After a restless night, Raegan felt her stomach suddenly turn.
He loved this kind of porridge.
“Time to eat,” Mitchel said dryly.
Determined not to confront him, Raegan kept her eyes closed. But her stomach betrayed her with a loud roar.
Mitchel's mocking snort gave away his charade. Reluctantly, Raegan sat up and set up the folding table for eating.
She may not have been hungry, but she couldn't let her baby starve.
But the problem was that she couldn't eat the porridge alone, since her hands were injured.
Seeing this, Mitchel put the porridge in a small bowl and fed him with a spoon.
Noting his stern countenance, Raegan hesitated before suggesting, "Maybe you could ask a nurse to feed me?"
Mitchel looked at her with a piercing, angry look.
“So, do you want this food or not?”
Helpless, Raegan accepted the spoonful of porridge without further complaint.
It wasn't like Mitchel to take care of anyone. To his surprise, Raegan was quite cooperative.
Mitchel couldn't help but imagine that if they had a daughter, would she be as adorable and well-behaved as Raegan during meals?
After eating only a small bowl, Raegan couldn't hold it in anymore.
Mitchel set the bowl aside and called for service. Someone arrived to clear the table.
Once they were alone, Raegan cleared her throat and asked, "Mitchel, what will it take for you to agree to a divorce?"
