? ? ? ? ?

Mitchel's soft voice seemed to rub salt into Raegan's wound.

Despite not having the strength to get rid of him, he managed to hiss through clenched teeth: "Let go of me!"

The undisguised disgust in her eyes hurt Mitchel, but he obeyed and let her go.

Then Raegan turned and walked away, each step seeming to sap her strength.

Suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the air.

Raegan collapsed to the ground, limp and unresponsive.

Mitchel's face turned ashen. For a moment, he feared he had lost her forever.

“Raegan!” He picked her up and shouted, “Take the car!

"We have to go to the hospital now."

The crowd was stunned by this shocking turn of events.

At the hospital, Raegan lay unconscious. In his dream, he saw Mitchel and Lauren holding hands and sharing an intimate moment.

She had swallowed her pride and begged Mitchel to come back to her for her grandmother's sake. Unfortunately, all she got from him was a cold scowl.

«I love Lauren more than anyone in the world. Don't get your hopes up."

Each word was like a blow to his heart.

The pain was so intense that I felt like I couldn't breathe.

A line of sweat gathered on Raegan's forehead. A few moments later, she was finally pulled from the depths of her nightmare.

"Raegan?" a man called in a deep voice.

Raegan's mind began to clear and the strong smell of disinfectant filled her senses.

“Raegan, are you okay? How are you feeling? Mitchel held her hand tightly. His eyes were red and tired, as if he had been watching over her for a long time.

“Why are you here?” Raegan jerked her hand away.

"Go away! "I don't want to see you again."

“Raegan, calm down…”

The tiredness in Mitchel's eyes disappeared for a split second, replaced by a fleeting look of tenderness as his gaze landed on Raegan's abdomen.

"Do you know you're pregnant?"

When the doctor told him that Raegan was pregnant, Mitchel was over the moon. He felt like he had been given a second chance at life.

He didn't want Raegan to get pregnant because of her condition, but he never imagined it would happen so suddenly.

With a baby on the way, he was pretty sure Raegan wouldn't ask him for a divorce anymore.

Mitchel's hand moved to touch her lower abdomen through the quilt. But Raegan wouldn't have it. He pushed her hand away without a second thought.

"It's my baby," he told her firmly.

Mitchel frowned and asked coldly, “Did you already know?”

Raegan pursed her lips and said nothing.

He looked straight into her eyes and asked, "Why didn't you tell me?"

A flash of contempt crossed Raegan's eyes. If I had told him, he probably would have pressured her to have an abortion. So why bother?

Besides, he had never wanted to have a child with her. All he wanted was a child with Lauren.

“I can handle myself,” Raegan replied warily.

«Oh, yes? Can you manage? Mitchel glanced at the IV drip and replied, "Is this how you're going to take care of yourself and our baby?"

The doctor had told Mitchel that Raegan had severe anemia and was in weak condition.

Hearing that news was like a punch in the stomach. It caught him off guard and he felt deeply uneasy.

It seemed like she wasn't taking the pregnancy seriously at all.

Seeing her stubbornly close her lips, Mitchel changed gears. He took a moment and, in the most comforting way he could muster, assured her, "I promise it won't happen again."

Raegan's eyes widened in disbelief.

Mitchel swore he wouldn't let it happen again.

What exactly was it that he wouldn't allow to happen a second time?

Was he saying he would never leave her again?

Raegan didn't care if he left her once or twelve times.

Whenever Lauren came into the picture, Mitchel was never by her side. Not once.

Noticing her silence, Mitchel seemed relieved and offered an explanation: "I understand. You're mad at me for missing your grandmother's last moments. But Lauren was in critical condition. "He had to stay in the ICU for two days..."

"Interesting!" Raegan laughed cynically.

Two days in the ICU, and Lauren still had the energy to pull Tessa's strings from her hospital bed? Lauren was really something!

“Is she dead?” Raegan snapped.

The question stunned Mitchel. He remembered Raegan as someone so gentle that he wouldn't hurt a fly.

How could he say something so cruel?

Seeing the shock on Mitchel's face, Raegan snorted and continued, "Let's get to the point." He's still breathing, right?

Since she's alive, how can you promise not to do it again? What if he does another feat? Will you abandon her for me?

“It's not like that, Raegan. YO…"

«Don't bother! I know you won't! Your word means nothing, Mitchel! Listen to me. This is my son, and I will bring him into the world without you. You don't have to worry. We have already signed the divorce papers. I promised Luciana that we would wait until the end of the month to finalize things. You will soon have your freedom, so save yourself the crocodile tears, will you?

As Raegan spoke, her eyes dripped with disdain.

Mitchel had once said that he didn't want to have children with her. But now he was acting like the father of the year? How hypocritical.

The second time he chose Lauren over her, he slammed the door on his marriage.

Raegan had made a decision and decided to step aside to make room for the happy couple.

Without her, Mitchel and Lauren could dance into the sunset.

After a moment, Mitchel pursed his lips and said quietly but decisively, "I will not accept a divorce."

«What do you mean you can't accept it? What makes you think you can have an opinion? Raegan scoffed.

"You've broken my heart, Mitchel."

When the phone call ended, it put an end to any further discussion.

Raegan was done with him.

This time, Mitchel could cajole her all he wanted, but she wouldn't fall for his words again.

Raegan had stopped fooling around. She was exhausted and tired of carrying the weight of her broken relationship.

Hearing his words, Mitchel felt a stinging pain, like a blade twisting in his heart. He was aware that she had made a decision, but he couldn't let her go. He couldn't imagine the future without her.

Just thinking about it made his heart ache.

Mitchel reached out to hug her. But as soon as he extended his hand, Raegan recoiled and turned her face away in disgust.

Mitchel grabbed her shoulders seriously and said, "Raegan, I promise to make it up to you and make things right." I won't leave you hanging when you need me most. Please, can we reconcile and be okay again?

"And how do you plan to do it?" Raegan asked mockingly.

A glimmer of hope flickered in Mitchel's eyes, and he promised, "I'll do whatever it takes."

How ridiculous. Raegan felt the urge to laugh. If it had been in the past, he would have believed it.

But if Mitchel really cared, he wouldn't have ghosted her for three days after her grandmother died.

After all, Lauren was the woman in his heart.

And what Tessa had said at the residence hinted that Lauren was the mastermind behind the show.

Raegan trusted her instincts.

Lauren was using Tessa as a hitman to kill her and her unborn child.

No one could friendly confront their opponent, who didn't even have to lay a finger to destroy her.

Besides, this damn Lauren even wanted to hurt her baby.

If Hector hadn't intervened, Raegan would have lost her son.

Her baby and her grandmother were the most important thing to her, and Lauren had walked all over her.

There was no way he could forgive Lauren.

Raegan wasn't going to give Lauren another chance to hurt her baby.

Thinking about it, he looked at Mitchel and sneered.

"You know, I have a sneaking suspicion that Lauren had something to do with the chaos in my grandmother's living room. Will you do me justice?

"That's impossible," Mitchel immediately denied.

How could Lauren have anything to do with that?

Hearing his response, Raegan looked at him with a sardonic smile.
