Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 69
? ? ? ? ?
Seeing that Raegan didn't say anything, Lauren continued to press, "Don't be fooled just because Mitchel demanded that I clarify the relationship between him and me." Everyone at Ardlens knows how much he appreciates me. Believe me, if something happened to me, I would drop everything, run to my side and leave you in the lurch.
Raegan raised her eyebrows slightly and replied calmly, "Are you afraid of losing him?"
"To you!" Lauren uttered in shock. Well, Raegan was right. What he feared most was losing Mitchel to Raegan.
How could I not be worried? Lately, Mitchel seemed to be paying more attention to Raegan.
But soon, something seemed to cross Lauren's mind. Lauren felt there was no point wasting time with Raegan like that.
Therefore, he decided to end the conversation with a satisfied smile.
"Let's wait and see."
As she prepared to leave, Lauren's eyes lingered on Raegan's belly, her gaze filled with malice.
Thinking that Raegan could sleep with Mitchel at any time and that Raegan was even pregnant with him filled her with jealousy.
Lauren wished she could skin Raegan alive and make her disappear forever.
Without Raegan, she would have become Mitchel's wife by now.
And soon, very soon, he would make Raegan pay.
Once Lauren was gone, Raegan stood still for a moment and tried to calm her racing heart.
Lauren's questions had struck a chord. Lauren had asked him if he was afraid, and the answer had been a resounding yes.
Raegan felt even more nervous than Lauren. If Mitchel disappeared, Lauren would still have her family as a safety net.
Raegan, on the other hand, only had her grandmother on her side.
Sometimes people clung to hope like a life raft. Even when the odds were great, they held on and kept pushing until all hope was gone.
And that was exactly how Raegan felt after the whirlwind of events.
At that moment, Raegan was wandering through the hospital hallways, lost in thought, when she ran into Henley.
With a bandage on his arm, Henley bent down to pick up the water bottle with difficulty.
Seeing this, Raegan stepped in, grabbed the bottle, and handed it to him.
“Raegan,” Henley greeted with a warm smile.
Curiously, he didn't ask her why she was in the hospital. This made Raegan feel a pang of guilt. After all, she was the reason Henley was hurt.
Seeing Henley trying to open the bottle without success, Raegan removed the cap and handed it back to him.
Instead of grabbing the bottle right away, Henley asked, "Could you help me take a sip?"
It was then that Raegan realized that her other hand was also injured.
He brought the bottle to her lips and let her take a sip.
Henley thought that even though she wasn't as sweet as before, she was still that way.
A few moments later, Raegan replaced the cap on the bottle and looked at Henley with sincere eyes.
«I'm so sorry, Henley. I apologize on behalf of Mitchel.
Henley paused for a moment and reassured her, “It's okay, Raegan. You don't need to apologize on his behalf. Anyway, how are you? Are you OK?"
"I'm fine. I realize I've never formally introduced you to Mitchel.
"He is my husband and he has promised me that he will not give you any more problems."
Henley smiled.
«It's okay, really. It was all a misunderstanding. His assistant had smoothed everything out.
Shortly after, they said their goodbyes and Raegan returned to Mitchel's living room.
Inside the room, Mitchel was looking at some photos on his phone that a stranger had sent him, and his expression darkened like an approaching storm cloud.
He turned to Luis and asked, "Do you know why Raegan was in the hospital yesterday?"
Taken by surprise, Luis hesitated but chose his words carefully, knowing that Mitchel was in no mood for untimely surprises.
«When I saw Raegan, I was talking to Henley, but it could have just been a coincidence. "Don't give it too much importance."
Luis was telling the truth. Raegan had never mentioned who she was visiting.
Mitchel, however, remembered that Raegan had said that she hadn't come to the hospital for him.
When Raegan reentered the room, she found Mitchel alone and in a bad mood.
Without saying a word, he motioned for her to come closer. Then he kissed her, a kiss that seemed to last until Raegan had to pull away.
Well, Mitchel was hurt, so he should take it easy for now.
However, Mitchel was having none of that. He leaned toward her and brushed his lips against her ear as he whispered something that made her face blush.
"Do all men like that?" she asked, a little embarrassed.
Mitchel smiled knowingly and his eyes sparkled with mischief.
“Yes, so I should try it,” he replied, his tone light but heavy with desire.
Annoyed, Raegan playfully punched him in the chest.
"In that case, I won't let you touch me again."
Hearing his words, Mitchel dramatically clutched his chest and winced in pain. Raegan's eyes widened in panic and she asked worriedly, "Have I hurt you?"
“Yes, it hurts,” Mitchel said, his voice tinged with mock sadness.
"You have broken my heart."
Raegan was speechless.
«They just rejected me. “My heart is in pieces,” he continued, clearly enjoying the moment.
As Raegan listened to him, she felt an overwhelming urge to smash his face in.
Just then, he accidentally exposed a bit of skin. Mitchel took the opportunity and grabbed her waist.
"Have you gained weight?"
Raegan hastily pulled at her clothes in a panic.
«Of course not.
She was only two months pregnant and her belly still couldn't be seen. Plus, I no longer had morning sickness and had finally regained my appetite. She ate more than usual to feed the baby inside her. As a result, he gained some weight.
She had every intention of sharing the news of her pregnancy with Mitchel, but not yet. Considering their relationship, she decided to tell him the truth after the first trimester.
Regardless of what Mitchel thought about it, she was going to have this baby.
"You know, it's nice to have." Mitchel put his hand on her waist again and didn't stop until she begged for mercy.
In the days that followed, Raegan stayed by Mitchel's side in the hospital. Luckily, he was physically strong, which meant he was discharged within a week.
After being discharged, he was overwhelmed by work, so they could not see each other for three days.
Although she missed him dearly, Raegan tried not to think about it too much.
Raegan had been visiting her grandmother regularly for the past few days. However, lately her grandmother had been more lethargic and often fell asleep when Raegan arrived at the residence.
Therefore, Raegan decided to change her routine and visit her grandmother in the afternoon.
Before going to the residence, Raegan decided to stop by Mitchel's company.
Mitchel had not fully recovered and his schedule was full.
Concerned for his well-being, Raegan prepared him a nutritious soup with the help of the housekeeper.
On the way to his company, he texted Mitchel asking if he was busy. However, he did not respond.
When Raegan arrived at the building, she grabbed the CEO-only key card and boarded the elevator. Then he ran into Matteo, who seemed a little nervous when they collided.
An uneasy feeling washed over her, but Raegan managed to maintain her composure.
“Is Mitchel available?”
"Mr. Dixon is now in his office..." Matteo stopped.
He looked like he wanted to say something else, but he thought better of it. By then, Raegan was already walking away.
When he entered the office, the blinds were up, letting in natural light. Mitchel was sitting at his desk, absorbed in his work, so handsome in his black shirt. In Raegan's eyes, there was something irresistibly attractive about the fact that he was focused on his work.
Sitting next to him was Lauren, dressed in a way that screamed she was a competent office worker. Her outfit was quite striking.
It was said that a man's sexiest moment was when he was concentrating on his work. Right now, Mitchel certainly fit the bill.
So Raegan could understand, on some level, why Lauren was so obsessed with Mitchel. Still, Raegan was uncomfortable with Lauren's fixation on Mitchel.
Matteo, with a bead of sweat forming on his temple, hastened to explain: -Miss Murray has recently inherited the family business from her father. "He's here to discuss some details with Mr. Dixon."
However, just as Matteo was explaining everything to Raegan, Lauren got too close to Mitchel. They were reading some documents, but their proximity raised eyebrows.
Matteo's forehead glistened with a new layer of cold sweat. He glanced at Raegan. There was no expression on her face, so it was hard to tell if she was pissed off and jealous.
From where Lauren was sitting, she could easily see someone standing by the window. Seeing Raegan, a provocative smile appeared on his face.
In Lauren's mind, Raegan should have slipped away, overcome with insecurity. After all, Raegan had already been lucky enough to marry Mitchel. How could I make a scene over something so insignificant?
Besides, Lauren supposed that Mitchel wasn't one to let any woman fight with her. So Raegan would have to bear the grievance alone. If things continued like this, Raegan would go crazy sooner or later.
Lauren had thought about it carefully. But to his surprise, Raegan knocked on the door and flung it open.
Mitchel was highlighting the key points of the documents. When he heard the sound of footsteps, he didn't even bother to raise his head and coldly said, "Get out."
