? ? ? ? ?

Jamie's hand roamed over Jarrod's muscular back, and that made Jarrod slightly uneasy.

The truth was, Jarrod's back was a road map of ugly scars. It wasn't exactly what one would expect behind that pretty face of hers.

Jamie didn't like his scars either. But Jarrod's face, his sexual intercourse skills, and his gentleness made it easier for Jamie to accept him.

How good was Jarrod to Jamie anyway?

Jamie believed that if any harm were to happen to her, he would not hesitate to protect her.

Few wouldn't fall in love with a loyal guy like Jarrod, who was handsome and skilled in bed.

Thinking about this, Jamie felt like she had won the lottery.

If it hadn't been for that stupid woman, Jamie might not have even given Jarrod a second glance back then, let alone saved him.

Now that he thought about it, he supposed he owed that woman a thank you note.

The Powell family was in decline, and it was Jarrod who gave them an advantage at Ardlens.

Therefore, holding on to Jarrod was not an option. It was necessary.

With all this in mind, Jamie wrapped her arms around Jarrod from behind and snuggled her face into his back, feeling the man's warm body and the burning desire she felt inside her.

"What are you looking at?" he asked with a cheerful smile. Suddenly, his gaze fell on Jarrod's neck and his expression changed.

"What is this? Who did this to you?

She knew very well that Jarrod made out with other women just for fun, but he never let them leave marks on him.

It was obviously a woman's scratch. With Jarrod's personality, how could he let a woman do this to him?

"It's no big deal. “I got scratched by a wild cat the other day,” Jarrod replied nonchalantly.

Then, he turned around and hugged Jamie.

"Why did you get up so early?"

Jamie didn't believe his story, but he preferred not to press him further.

After all, Jarrod had promised not to touch any other women after they were married. So he let it go.

"I can't fall asleep without you." Jamie wrapped her arms around Jarrod's neck and snuggled into his chest.

Jarrod smiled.

"Do you want it now?"

«What are you talking about? It's so early…” Jamie said, her cheeks flushed.

Truth be told, she had been more than happy with the previous night's activities and was open to an encore, but she didn't want to make it too obvious.

After all, in Jarrod's eyes, she was a naive girl.

But it was not easy to satisfy a woman who had once tried it.

«There is no one here but us. What prevents you? Jarrod shook off his doubts. He led her to the bed and reached out to take off her clothes, but Jamie stopped him.

“Jarrod…” She tilted her head and looked at him with a burning gaze. Then he lightly brushed her palm with his fingers.

«Don't hold back. I really don't care..."

She had arrived late at night with the excuse of having a nightmare when, in reality, she just wanted to make out with him. He figured a boy should be looking forward to something like that.

But for so long, Jarrod had only planted a light kiss on her forehead and back. Worse yet, it wasn't even a passionate kiss.

If she didn't already know he was a womanizer, Jamie would have thought he'd never even been close to a woman.

Of course, Jarrod had promised her that they would go all the way on their wedding night, but her mind still had its doubts.

Even last night, when she was wearing those sexy pajamas, he seemed almost uninterested and just pleasured her with his thin fingers.

And when she had an orgasm, she looked at him out of the corner of her eye. His face was a portrait of calm, almost businesslike.

The more he held back, the more he wanted it.

Who wouldn't want a man with that kind of self-control?

Just thinking about his stoic face made her pulse quicken. I couldn't wait to make love to him.

Right now, he was excited and it was a good opportunity for Jamie. But then Jarrod gently pushed her away.

Jamie felt confused and disappointed, and didn't dare make another move.

She turned her face away, feeling dissatisfied.

Jarrod cradled the back of her neck and planted a kiss on her cheek.

«Jamie, you mean a lot to me. I want to give you only the best. Let me take care of you.

With that, he proceeded to pleasure her with his hand.

Jamie, for her part, felt caressed and convinced by his sweet words.

But she didn't understand why he seemed to be more concerned about preserving her virginity than she was about herself.

Fortunately, she had secretly undergone hymen repair surgery.

Otherwise, given his attitude, Jarrod probably would have made a big deal out of it.

Soon, she had no room in her mind for such worries. With his eyes closed, he surrendered to the pleasure.

At dawn, Raegan reached out and felt Mitchel's forehead. His fever had finally broken.

He took a deep breath and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

Suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the room.

Raegan's heart skipped a beat. She ran out of the bathroom and found Mitchel near the door, a chair knocked over at his feet.

“Mitchel?”

Hearing her voice, Mitchel turned and his eyes instantly lit up at the sight of her.

Without a word, he crossed the room and wrapped her in a hug so tight it made her ribs hurt.

Raegan squirmed, trying to get free. Mitchel snapped, “I thought you ran away again.”

Hearing what Mitchel said, Raegan's face changed. What did he mean by that?

He gently pushed him and said with genuine concern, “Let me go first. "You're hurt."

However, Mitchel only hugged her tighter and, almost sulking, murmured, "I promise I won't lay a finger on her."

"What do you mean?" Raegan asked, confused.

"Henley."

It was now that Raegan realized what Mitchel meant.

Only Mitchel seemed very reluctant as he said it through gritted teeth.

“I see,” Raegan replied.

The next moment, Mitchel seemed to have bitten into a lemon.

It was the biggest concession he could think of.

He loosened his grip, cupped her face in his hands, and asked grumpily, "Shouldn't you thank me or something?"

Raegan was speechless. In his mind, Mitchel should apologize to Henley. She had given her a hard time on multiple occasions, all because Henley had been there for her when she needed help.

However, he didn't say it out loud, knowing how unpredictable Mitchel's reaction could be.

«There is nothing between Henley and me. "You have no reason to make things difficult for him."

"Nothing? He kissed you, right? I saw it. "Since when have you become so carefree and easy, Raegan?"

Raegan was speechless again.

Mitchel took his silence as a sign of agreement, which only fueled the fires of his anger. He pulled her even closer to him and demanded, “You have to promise me that you will never see him again. So, I won't make things difficult for you."

"Henley never kissed me, and there's nothing like what you thought."

Raegan didn't know why she felt compelled to explain herself, but the atmosphere between the two was a little strained now.

They argued like a long-married couple.

«Are you still denying it? I saw you in the car that day..."

Mitchel broke off, every word drenched in jealousy.

In the car? Raegan put the dots together and finally understood what Mitchel was talking about.

Was that the reason he had hit Henley's car?

Raegan frowned. He didn't want to get into an argument with someone who was still recovering, so he patiently explained: -He never kissed me.

"The wound on my face was stained with my hair, so he helped me brush it."

"Oh really?" Mitchel looked at her, still not entirely convinced.

"Why would I lie?" Raegan sighed and helped him onto the bed.

"Right now you should focus on resting."

“Raegan,” Mitchel suddenly shouted, his tone surprisingly optimistic.

His hand still held hers. A wave of unease washed over Raegan and she tried to pull away.

But before she could step back even an inch, Mitchel pulled her into his arms. He lifted her chin with his hand and looked at her lips.

"Your mouth is less annoying than before."

Then, he kissed her. Unlike the dominant bite, this time Mitchel kissed her very gently and even with a hint of affection.

Raegan was so surprised by the change in him that she forgot to resist.

Just as they were lost in the kiss, someone suddenly opened the living room door.

«Mitchel. Lauren entered but froze in place when she saw the scene before her.

The warmth Raegan had felt on her lips disappeared in an instant, leaving her feeling uncomfortable and ironic.

Raegan shoved Mitchel aside and said, "I'm leaving."
