He stopped abruptly, remembering the warning over the phone, knowing that revealing too much would have dire consequences. Although men involved in shady business like him had heard many threatening words, it was only when the man on the phone spoke that he felt a real chill. For the first time, I was really scared.

But Matteo had heard enough and continued: «Did you draw blood? Why did you draw blood?

Mitchel's grip relaxed and he looked at Raegan, his face solemn. "Did he draw blood?"

Regaining her composure, Raegan nodded and gave him the finger.

"Yeah. The small prick on his finger was almost invisible now.

Mitchel felt a chill.

"Sit here for a while." Mitchel carefully placed his expensive jacket on the floor for Raegan to sit on before turning with a serious look.

"Where is the blood?" Mitchel asked.

The man trembled under Mitchel's intense gaze, realizing that he was facing someone just as daunting. "Don't know…"

Before he could finish, a menacing look crossed Mitchel's face.

Mitchel's elegant shoe pressed hard on the sleazy man's mouth, turning his words into muffled screams.

With eyes as dark as night, Mitchel stared at the man, shifting his weight slightly to warn him. "Think carefully before you speak."

Overcome with fear, the man almost pissed himself. Faced with Mitchel's menacing presence, he knew his miserable end was coming, whether he spoke or not. The person behind all of this was much scarier than Mitchel could ever be.

«My partner took the blood. "He's outside, in the car, waiting," the man blurted out, overcome by palpable terror.

Mitchel gestured to Matteo, who wasted no time in sending someone to check it out.

Matteo took control and grabbed the man firmly, pressuring him to respond. "Who is your contact and why did you need the blood?"

The man had no idea. He had never met his contact, they had only communicated by phone. He had no idea why he had taken Raegan's blood.

After watching the man for a while, Mitchel decided he didn't know anything important. He ordered without expression: "Let him stay here until we hand him over to the police."

Mitchel then gently picked up Raegan, carefully cradling her as if she were something precious, careful not to shake her.

The cut on Mitchel's arm split open from the effort, bleeding openly, with drops of blood falling to the ground.

It wasn't until they were sitting in the car that Raegan noticed her injury, expressing shock: "Your hand..."

“It's nothing serious,” Mitchel reassured her, his eyes full of urgency, urging the driver to hurry.

Then, out of nowhere, a scream was heard. “Stop there!”

Somehow, the man had launched a spray, blinding Matteo before attempting to flee.

Raegan stood stunned as the man jumped over a railing.

The next second, a loud screech of tires sounded and the man was thrown into the air, landing with a thud.

Before Raegan could fully understand what had happened, Mitchel quickly covered her eyes, whispering, "Don't look."

The aftermath outside was horrific, with the man's body mangled beyond recognition.

Matteo, who could barely see, immediately ordered his men to stop the fleeing driver.

Mitchel, with a determined look, ordered: "Once you have handed him over to the police, look into the driver's past."

The crash had apparently not been an accident, but rather a calculated act, possibly to silence the man forever. The person who orchestrated it remained unknown. Mitchel's face hardened with determination. He was determined to thwart the other party's plans at every turn.

Instead of rushing Raegan to the hospital, Mitchel chose Luis's lab for its cutting-edge technology and quick test results.

There, Raegan underwent a thorough evaluation, including testing for any infection caused by the finger prick.

Outside the room Raegan was in.

Luis examined the cut on Mitchel's arm, his brow furrowed in concern.

«Thank goodness the knife was not poisoned. "You care so much about Raegan and yet you don't seem to care about yourself at all."

Mitchel just shrugged. "I'm tough enough."

Mitchel would protect Raegan from poison or anything else, without a second thought. It was an instinct, not something he discussed.

When Luis had healed and bandaged Mitchel's wound, he became serious. «There is something strange in your blood test. "We have to see a specialist who will return to base in two weeks."

Mitchel just nodded. "Understood".

But Luis was concerned by Mitchel's relaxed response and continued to press: "Please take this seriously. "I am very worried."

Luis had his doubts that the blood test results were so simple, he suspected that there was something more to the irregularity, a mystery that he had not yet deciphered.

The more Luis thought about it, the more agitated he became, muttering, "Lauren really went too far this time, resorting to the extremes of needling you."

Luis marveled at the extremes to which a woman could go in the name of love.

"Keep your voice down," Mitchel warned Luis, not wanting Raegan to worry about him.

"What were you talking about?" Raegan left the office and caught the last moments of the conversation.

The room fell silent.

Looking curious, Raegan asked Luis, "Who did Lauren poke?"

Luis instinctively turned to Mitchel at Raegan's question.

Noticing Mitchel's subtle signal, Luis quickly responded: "We were talking about a police report about a syringe found nearby. "They think Lauren might have planned to use her for something bad."
