As Doreen watched the car's taillights go off, her eyes filled with tears and she began to cry at her front door.

At Doreen's screams, her parents rushed out, their expressions changing drastically upon seeing Doreen crying miserably. They immediately contacted Roscoe's father, expressing their displeasure at Roscoe's behavior.

Roscoe's father was sympathetic and assured Doreen's parents that he would take care of the matter.

When Roscoe returned home, it was almost eleven at night.

The lights were on, illuminating the villa.

Sitting in the living room was Roscoe's father, exuding a stern aura from his chair. "Disobedient child, kneel!" he bellowed.

Roscoe, who seemed not to have caught his father's words, remained standing, his posture rigid.

Enraged, Roscoe's father ordered the butler to bring a stick, wanting Roscoe to surrender.

The butler obeyed. This stick was unique, it inflicted sharp pain without leaving visible marks.

Roscoe's father brandished the stick, hitting Roscoe until he collapsed.

Throughout the ordeal, Roscoe remained silent, enduring the pain through clenched teeth. Even as blood dripped from his mouth, indicating his serious injuries, he endured the pain stoically.

Roscoe's father, torn between anger and worry, lamented, "Roscoe, don't hold a grudge against me. My goal is for your dignity to rise. Do you want to be branded a bastard forever?

Roscoe, his lips stained with blood, responded with difficulty: “I will not depend on marriage for my status. I made it clear when I returned. "I refuse to be part of such an alliance."

"You!" Roscoe's father, overcome with frustration, pointed at Roscoe, speechless with anger.

Roscoe, his face pale and drenched in sweat, managed to stand upright once more. As he stood up, his presence seemed to eclipse his father's, and his bearing became commanding and formidable.

«Remember your promise. “Once I secure the position, you will give me the freedom to choose my path.”

Roscoe's father watched Roscoe leave the room, his step unsteady but determined. Frustrated, he tapped his staff. Roscoe was indomitable!

Raegan woke up startled by Elin's urgent call.

Elin sounded distraught and terrified on the phone. “Raegan, something horrible has happened. "Nicole just called me saying she killed someone."

Raegan jumped. “What did you say!”

Between sobs, Elin managed to tell the story to Raegan.

Elin intended to ask Nicole a question, but she answered the phone with a shaky voice and confessed that she had killed someone.

Then Nicole's phone went off.

Elin cried. "Raegan, what are we going to do?"

Raegan, although alarmed, tried to calm Elin: “Calm down first. Did Nicole say anything else?

Elin strained her memory and then added, "I think I overheard someone mention 'Mr. Schultz' in the background, but that was it."

Mr. Schultz? Raegan connected the dots with Mr. Schultz in Nicole's life. It had to be Jarrod!

Raegan reassured Elin: “Don't worry. I know who to contact. I'll get more information and update you."

Upon ending the call, Raegan immediately contacted Mitchel.

Mitchel answered quickly. "Raegan, what's wrong?"

Mitchel's voice was a comfort in his confusion. «Mitchel…

Sensing Raegan's distress, Mitchel urged, "Don't worry. What's happening?"

Raegan shared Nicole's situation and her voice broke. «Mitchel, could you check to see if Jarrod is involved? If he is not, let us not bother him.

Raegan feared that Jarrod would cause problems for Nicole if he was bothered about something he wasn't involved in.

Mitchel paused briefly before answering, "I'll look into it and call you."

"Okay, I'm waiting."

Raegan's confident response warmed the cold night. Feeling encouraged, Mitchel said, "I'm working on it."

Uneasy, Raegan waited for his call.

After half an hour of tension, Mitchel received the call. He revealed: "It's Jarrod. "Miss Lawrence has hurt Jarrod."

Raegan was stunned. “Is Nicole in danger?”

Mitchel replied, "No, but Jarrod is seriously injured and has not yet regained consciousness."

Raegan's heart skipped a beat. «Where is Nicole now? Do you know his whereabouts?

«He's at Jarrod's house. Alec left it there. Mitchel, trying to ease his concern, added, “Don't stress yourself out too much. Jarrod's people have controlled the situation. "It seems that they do not intend to harm her, otherwise they would have already arrested her."

Raegan felt slightly relieved, but still uneasy. "Can I go see Nicole?"

"I don't believe it. I don't know Jarrod's current location. "We must wait for him to wake up."

Jarrod had accumulated many adversaries in his quest to run the family business. For security reasons, their location was often not revealed to avoid possible attacks.

“Is there no way to find out more?” Raegan asked, still worried.

«Keep calm. Jarrod won't hurt Miss Lawrence. Mitchel understood that Jarrod's affection for Nicole rivaled his love for Raegan.

However, Jarrod's approach was overly drastic, likely stemming from unresolved family issues.

Mitchel had often advised Jarrod otherwise. However, a person marked by having witnessed the fall of his parents had deep-rooted beliefs that were not easily convinced.

Since Nicole left five years ago, Jarrod's commitment to Mitchel had diminished. It seemed like they were growing apart little by little.

Jarrod had become more isolated, living in his own kingdom. Despite their few interactions, Jarrod retained a deep respect for his lifelong friends.

No amount of comfort from Mitchel could completely calm Raegan.
