Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 491
? ? ? ? ?
Stefan's face darkened, his fists clenched tightly. He spoke coldly.
«Don't slander Raegan. "We are nothing more than friends."
"Friends? Ha ha, forgive me... Do you mean that you have no desire for her? Everything else aside, Brent was quite confident in Raegan's attractiveness. Since she was young, she had possessed a surprising charm and carried herself with the grace of a lady, different from other girls.
Brent's words only served to make Stefan frown even more. The typically gentle and refined Stefan finally let his anger come out. “Stop talking nonsense!”
Meanwhile, Raegan was still stunned by Brent's earlier revelation. I knew Brent was referring to Mitchel. But she never imagined that Mitchel would clandestinely offer Brent five million just to prevent him from harassing her.
It was no wonder that after that incident at the hospital, Brent didn't bother her again. She had assumed Brent had changed his mind, but it seemed like money was the only reason for his silence.
Brent kept talking nonsense to Stefan.
Raegan, uninterested in further confrontation, frowned and told Stefan, "Let's go, Stefan."
Seeing the two preparing to leave, Brent, deprived of all gain, became desperate. He shouted: “Aren't you curious to know the secret?
It's not as simple as just adopting you after finding yourself alone.
Don't you want to know?
Raegan responded firmly, "I don't want to know."
Then he turned around and quickly got into the car. Knowing that if she expressed curiosity, Brent would be even less inclined to reveal anything substantial without making millions from her by spilling a few minor details bit by bit, Raegan opted for the opposite approach.
However, as much as Raegan understood Brent, Brent also understood her. He scoffed, “Do you think you can fool me, little one? "I don't believe for a second that you're not curious." Raegan had always been cunning, never wavering in his presence.
Brent, feeling quite pleased with himself, continued, “Let me make this clear to you. Fifty million, not a cent less, or don't bother..."
Before he could finish, Brent watched as the car window gently rose, cutting off his words from outside. To their amazement, the limousine began to move and took off!
"Wait!" Brent was hot on the heels of the car, his voice desperate. "For!
Stop the car!
But the car didn't even stop, it kept going.
Boom! The sound was deafening.
Brent stumbled and fell to the ground. His face was bloody from the fall. The sharp pain filled his eyes with tears and blurred his vision. When he squinted through the fog, he saw the car reversing toward him. The window slid smoothly.
Raegan looked out, her face devoid of emotion. “Do you still want to talk?”
Brent, his face smeared with blood and tears, looked completely defeated. He knew well that he would find no trace of sympathy in Raegan today. "How much are you willing to give?"
Raegan mimicked his gesture, raising her hand and spreading her fingers.
A grimace spread across Brent's bloodied lips. However, he was aware that the secret had value only to Raegan and had no value to anyone else. He closed his eyes, mouth twisting in resignation. "Very good!
Make it five million. You give me five million and I will tell everything, not a single falsehood.
Brent couldn't help but think that he had dropped his price significantly, from fifty million to five.
Raegan gave him a look that suggested she thought he was crazy. He corrected him coldly: "I meant fifty."
Brent was speechless. I was totally amazed.
Overwhelmed by his feelings, he blurted out: “You're crazy, woman!
Who haggles like that?
Unperturbed, as if she hadn't heard his outburst, Raegan calmly stated, "Forty."
Brent, incredulous, managed to say: "You crazy man, you're very sick!"
Raegan allowed herself a slight smile. "This is my offer."
"You're making a fool of yourself!" Brent was about to explode.
However, Raegan remained unfazed, simply saying, "Twenty."
Once again, Brent was speechless. He thought for a moment before exclaiming, “Idiot! Shouldn't there be thirty?
Slowly, Raegan replied, "I'm the one making the offer, so I decide."
Brent snorted, “Don't dream about it. I'm telling you it's not going to happen. I would consider thirty…”
Before he could finish his sentence, the engine roared and the window began to roll up.
Brent visibly paled. He had witnessed Raegan's determination firsthand, her actions speaking louder than her words. With a look of resignation, he shouted, “You are ruthless!”
As the window continued to roll up, he yelled, worried that Raegan wouldn't hear him and decide to drive away, “Okay! Twenty! Deal done! Done deal.
For Brent, who thrived on the thrill of the game and was no stranger to life's ups and downs, the prospect of scoring twenty no longer seemed so far-fetched. To him, twenty was better than zero.
At that moment, Raegan rolled down the window and looked at Brent. "Speak now," he said.
Brent, wary that she would run away without paying him after hearing the secret, replied, "Give me the money first."
At this point, Raegan wasn't worried that Brent might lie.
Even if the information he had was useless, she saw that the twenty thousand offered her an escape route. After all, he was part of the Hayes family. Giving him one last chance at redemption wasn't a bad idea. If she didn't take advantage of this opportunity and strayed again, the repercussions would be hers alone, and she would wash her hands of it. Her sympathy was with her kind mother, not with him.
Raegan nodded, her expression serious. "Okay, but if you lie, you won't get away with it."
