Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 478
? ? ? ? ?
That barrier that Raegan put up, that distance, tugged at Mitchel's sensitive chord, causing him a deep, raw pain. In a hoarse voice, he replied, "I just want to have breakfast with Janey."
Raegan figured it out. It was clear as day that he was using Janey as an excuse to be around her.
With an icy expression, Raegan said, "Mitchel, I only agreed to you picking Janey up and dropping her off at school, but not to barging into our lives whenever you felt like it."
The way he said “our” clearly exposed Mitchel, the father.
His voice dry with emotion, Mitchel said seriously, “Raegan, I really want to spend more time with Janey. I've missed five years and I can't afford to miss another moment. "I want to take advantage of every opportunity I have to see her."
Of course, it wasn't just Janey. Mitchel longed to see Raegan.
He even wished that the three of them could be reunited as a family. However, he kept these thoughts to himself, knowing how difficult it was to get so close. If he mentioned it, Raegan might refuse to let him even look at Janey's face.
Raegan knew Mitchel's words made sense. Furthermore, he had promised not to fight with her over custody of Janey, so he had no reason to prevent meetings between father and daughter. Therefore, despite her desire to stay away from Mitchel, she had allowed him to bond with Janey, knowing how happy Janey was with Mitchel around.
After struggling with her thoughts for a moment, Raegan ended the conversation by demanding, "Leave after you eat."
Mitchel felt a wave of sadness and frowned.
At breakfast, with Mitchel sitting next to her, Janey was exceptionally energetic.
Raegan poured him a glass of Janey's favorite milk.
Janey did not hesitate to share half of the milk with Mitchel, her voice full of sweetness. “Dad, you should try this. "It's my favorite."
Remembering Mitchel's dislike of milk, Raegan interjected: "Janey, he doesn't like milk..."
Raegan stopped mid-sentence, her face suddenly red. Damn!
Why did he care about her culinary tastes? Why did he still remember his preferences so clearly?
Caught off guard, Mitchel smiled and accepted the milk, drinking it elegantly.
Janey looked at him impatiently. «Dad, do you like it? "Mom serves it to us."
Mitchel carefully wiped Janey's mouth with a napkin, her touch soft and her eyes full of love. "Of course".
She looked at Raegan and added softly, “Your mommy has a gift for choosing irresistibly tasty food.”
At this, a hint of annoyance crossed Raegan's face, irritated by his forwardness. Who needed his sudden praise? However, that Mitchel seemed naturally good at taking care of a child surprised him. Janey seemed much more cheerful in his presence.
Raegan then thought about the psychologist's suggestion about Janey's condition, stating that Janey needed a father figure, one who approved and liked her. It seemed like Mitchel was just the one Janey needed, as demonstrated by Janey's willingness to call Mitchel "dad" on her own.
However, Raegan couldn't understand the cause of this. Why did Janey feel a special affection for Mitchel? Was the saying true that blood ties were the strongest?
“Dad…” Janey's soft call brought Raegan back to reality.
Raegan noticed that Mitchel's shirt and pants were stained with milk.
“Sorry, Dad…” Janey looked upset. Thinking that Mitchel had liked the milk, he decided to bring him another glass. Unexpectedly, the glass slipped from his hands and fell to the floor, with pieces of broken glass around it and spilled milk on Mitchel's clothes. Anxious, Janey hurriedly bent down to clean up the mess and cut her hand on a piece of glass before Mitchel intervened.
Mitchel, unfazed by the stains on her clothing, asked Janey with a worried look, her voice low and tinged with concern, "Are you hurt?"
Raegan felt the same concern. The first thing he thought was if Janey had hurt herself with the glass or something.
“Janey…” Raegan wanted to check on Janey, but Mitchel had already grabbed Janey's hands to scrutinize them.
With his head bowed, Mitchel leaned back slightly to prevent the milk stains on his clothes from coming into contact with Janey.
Just then, Annis approached with a first aid kit and offered, “Mr. Dixon, let me help you.
Annis tried to grab Janey, but Mitchel continued to hold onto Janey's hand, simply reaching out to grab the first aid kit. "Give it to me."
Worried that Mitchel wasn't handling Janey's injury properly, Raegan told Annis, "I'll take care of it."
Annis handed the medkit to Raegan. Raegan bowed slightly as she tended to Janey. As she did so, Raegan's arm occasionally brushed against Mitchel's sleeve, but she didn't think much of it.
Mitchel's gaze, full of immense tenderness, observed Raegan in silence. Since Raegan regained his memory, being able to calmly relate to her was beyond his wildest dreams. Selfishly, he wished time would slow down.
Feeling the love and care of her two favorite people, Janey smiled, waving her unaffected hand dismissively. "Mom, dad, I'm fine."
The quick treatment defied the impact of the cut on Janey's hand.
Both Mitchel and Raegan breathed a sigh of relief.
Annis quickly grabbed Janey and suggested to Mitchel, "Mr. Dixon, you might need to change your clothes."
Raegan thought the same thing. He was about to offer to pay for the ruined suit when Janey interjected: “Dad, the clothes Mom made for Erick are upstairs. “You can go put it on.”
Raegan was amused by Janey's enthusiastic suggestion. I still remembered that Mitchel was very picky about clothes and always chose high-end, custom-made garments from his favorite Italian brand.
Raegan asked, "Is it still exclusive to that Italian brand?" "I can order you a custom outfit."
Mitchel looked at her, with a slight smile on his lips, and replied softly: “No need. Janey mentioned that there are clothes for me to change into, right?”
Raegan was speechless. He couldn't understand what experiences had led Mitchel to change so much. Now he seemed unfazed by the prospect of not wearing his favorite clothes. Although Erick's size was close to his own, for someone like him, accustomed to tailored suits, casual clothing would probably be uncomfortable.
Raegan proposed, "Maybe you should go back and change?"
“I have a meeting soon,” Mitchel explained his situation.
