Jarrod pulled out his phone, unlocked it in the contacts, and handed it back to her. He said in a carefree, almost mocking tone, “I had to make sure you didn't block me. How else are we supposed to interact?”

Nicole just smiled, preferring to remain silent.

Jarrod then asked, "Do you have any plans for the weekend?"

"I'm still not sure."

"I'll come look for you this weekend."

Their exchange seemed to miss a connection.

Nicole made no objections and simply said goodbye politely.

"Now I must go."

And with that, he walked away with aplomb.

Once out of sight, Nicole pulled out her phone and spoke to someone.

"Inform the head of the Hampton family in detail about today's event."

The Hamptons family. The death of Nicole's father was linked to a contract that involved the Hampton family as a third party.

Winning over the Hamptons required starting with Jarrod.

In the business world, profits often led to priorities. Jarrod's impulsive purchases at an inflated price for her would inevitably strain her association with the Hamptons.

At the side of the road, Jarrod sat in his car, watching it go, and lit a cigarette.

His phone buzzed. It was Alec. "Mr. Schultz, should we downplay the recent news?"

Some council members were already questioning Jarrod's hasty decisions.

However, they felt powerless to intervene.

Alec thought about minimizing the consequences for Jarrod's sake.

Jarrod, raising an eyebrow, replied, "Let it be."

I was intrigued to see how Nicole intended to take him down.

Raegan stood outside Mitchel's hospital room for a moment. Surrounded by bodyguards, she felt a little nervous about getting caught.

Finally, when the bodyguards switched tasks, Raegan lowered her head and entered quietly. Dressed as a nurse, it was easier for her to go unnoticed.

Nicole had even provided him with a nurse's badge for the hospital. It was even more unlikely that it would attract anyone's attention.

Upon entering, Raegan found Mitchel asleep, eyes closed. He approached and noticed that she had bruises on her face that had not yet healed.

The wound on his arm had healed a little and he didn't bother to bandage it. Underneath his clothes, he appeared to have a lump on his shoulder, probably covered by thick bandages.

Raegan suddenly felt sorry for him. He injured his shoulder when he rescued her and was beaten by his brother after that. He seemed seriously injured by his brother.

Even asleep, Mitchel's expression was tense, his majestic brows furrowed.

Without thinking, Raegan reached out her hand, intending to soothe the furrows on his forehead.

As soon as his fingertips touched her forehead, her long eyelashes fluttered and Mitchel opened her eyes abruptly.

Raegan's fingers froze, about to retreat.

Mitchel slowly came to, his mind still clouded by sleep. His deep gaze locked onto the delicate fingers in front of him as he asked coldly, “What are you doing?”

Raegan was speechless. He slapped her on the forehead.

This action caused Mitchel to wake up and stare at her. His look conveyed a clear message: without a good explanation, there would be consequences.

Raegan's heart raced, her voice deliberately high-pitched as she explained behind the mask, "Mosquitoes here."

Mitchel was speechless. He looked at Raegan, his gaze cold and indifferent.

If Raegan didn't think her disguise was good enough, she almost felt like he knew who she was.

Raegan bowed her head, like a timid bird, whispering softly, “Take care.

Leave".

After confirming that he was not in mortal danger and that it did not appear that he would be incapacitated, Raegan was relieved.

Just as he turned to leave, he heard her cold request from behind.

"I need water."

Raegan paused. Pretending not to hear, he tried to move away, but Raegan's firm grip prevented him from doing so.

«Can't you hear me? "I said I need water."

With no escape possible, Raegan nodded, head still lowered, and murmured, "Okay."

The water heater was situated right next to the bed, making Raegan feel as if Mitchel was watching her every action. The feeling was overwhelmingly uncomfortable.

She offered him the water. However, he did not accept it, with a deep and imperious voice. "Give it to me."

Raegan's jaw dropped. She felt the urge to throw the water in his face. What kind of strange hobby was this, needing a nurse to give him water to drink with her available hand? So vulgar!

Raegan held back, worried about revealing her identity. He adjusted the angle of the bed to make drinking easier.

Reflecting on her actions, Raegan was surprised at her own behavior.

How could she handle something totally new to her with such ease and grace? Was it possible that she had often taken care of him in the past?

Pushing these thoughts aside, he carefully brought the cup to her lips.

Mitchel tested the water and complained, "It's too hot."

Raegan was surprised and asked, "It's not hot, is it?"

Raegan checked the temperature of the water again, making sure it wasn't too hot.

With his handsome face clouded with frustration, Mitchel blurted out, “What's your name? You are careless. Don't you trust me? Try it yourself.
