Lauren panicked. Unsure of her fate under Mitchel's intimidating gaze, her body trembled uncontrollably.

Mitchel, without sparing Lauren another glance, turned to Raegan and asked: -This is the woman who hurt you and Janey. What do you think his punishment should be?

Mitchel's eyes emitted an unmistakable coldness, lacking any warmth when Lauren was mentioned.

If Lauren hadn't had Alexis backing her then, Mitchel would never have given Lauren the chance to return to Ardlens.

Instead of carrying herself with poise, Lauren made the decision to hurt someone she shouldn't have. He deserved to suffer the consequences.

The unexpected cruelty that Mitchel showed towards Lauren left Raegan stunned. After all, Lauren was his first love, right?

The last time she kicked Lauren out of the restaurant, Raegan thought Mitchel was just trying to prove something to her. But his perception changed when the audible snap of Lauren's wrist broke the air.

Raegan looked at Mitchel curiously and asked, "Aren't you embarrassed to do that to Lauren?" Isn't she your first love?

From the report Erick had compiled, Raegan had seen how Mitchel used to pamper Lauren.

Mitchel clarified quietly: "It's not."

Raegan blinked in disbelief. Wasn't Lauren his first love? Who was he trying to fool?

Wearing a sly smile, Raegan asked, "So I can do anything to him?"

Mitchel gave him a penetrating look. “What do you have in mind?”

Raegan snorted discontentedly. «Oh? Are you afraid that I will go too far?

Whether Mitchel feared Raegan would go too far or not, Lauren certainly feared it.

Convinced that Mitchel would take pity on her for old times' sake, Lauren turned her gaze to him, her eyelashes fluttering in supplication.

In a desperate plea, Lauren screamed: "Mitchel, please... I'm innocent.

"That schemer has set a trap for me."

Kneeling on the floor, with a broken hand and smeared makeup, Lauren looked like a bulldog.

Figuring Mitchel's silence meant she was in a dilemma, Raegan smiled and said, "It's okay if you don't want to see her hurt."

Still, Raegan knew that when her brother returned, Lauren wouldn't be able to escape his wrath. In that case, she wouldn't owe Mitchel a favor. If Mitchel was reluctant to let Lauren show her face, that was fine with him.

But to her surprise, Raegan was met with an indifferent response from Mitchel. "I don't want you to get your hands dirty."

As long as Raegan was clear about what she wanted, Mitchel would get someone else to do it for her. He was not willing to let his hands be dirty by unworthy people.

Raegan found herself taken aback, completely unprepared for the words that escaped Mitchel's lips. If someone else had said it, the statement might seem pretentious.

But Mitchel, with his striking appearance and calm demeanor, exuded sincerity. In fact, there was a subtle romantic touch that caught Raegan off guard.

Feeling heat rising in her ears, Raegan touched her earlobe uneasily and replied, "Stop it."

"I'm serious." Bowing his head slightly, Mitchel swore, "I won't let anyone go who hurts you."

The gravity of his words left Raegan momentarily speechless. A crimson blush painted her cheeks and her ears burned. In a way he appreciated his usual state.

On the sidelines, Lauren's face darkened as she watched the flirtatious exchange between the two.

To make matters worse, they acted like she wasn't here.

The worst thing was that even the slightest movement caused sharp pain throughout his body.

Lauren's eyes filled with hatred as she looked at the stunning Raegan.

How he wished Raegan had died in the car incident back then.

That way, she wouldn't have ended up like this.

Lauren mulled it over bitterly, wrongly blaming Raegan for everything.

When Raegan shifted her gaze to Lauren, she couldn't help but notice the fury burning in the latter's eyes.

With a subtle smile, Raegan suggested, "Maybe I should try the drink you made."

It was such a simple and sophisticated solution.

Totally impressed, Mitchel raised his eyebrows and ordered the waiter: "Prepare him a drink, the same one as that day."

"OK". Eager to rectify his earlier mistake, the bartender was quick to repeat the drink within minutes.

Lauren's expression turned into one of horror. Frantically, he protested, “No! You can't do this to me. I'm not going to…”

The rest of his words were cut off when a bodyguard pinched his mouth and forced him to swallow the drink.

Only when the glass was empty did the bodyguard release Lauren and let her fall to the ground like a dead fish.

The effects of the drug had not yet taken effect.

Lauren looked at Mitchel in despair. «What's good about this woman? I have loved you for so many years! Do you have a heart of stone?

Looking at Lauren, Mitchel said coldly, "Do you remember what I told you on your twentieth birthday?"

Lauren's face paled as the memories came flooding back.

The night Lauren turned twenty, she had ended up on Mitchel's doorstep, offering to give herself to him. But all he had gotten in return was her callous rejection.

Frowning, Mitchel reiterated, “I never liked you. Not then, not now, not ever. If you had given up your illusions and behaved, you could have lived a life of luxury instead of ending up like this.

Raegan found herself perplexed. It turned out that Mitchel didn't really have feelings for Lauren.
