Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 311

He did not forget the fact that he owed him his life. To return the favor, he was even so generous to her that he gave her a mansion worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
After he decided to call off their wedding and engagement, he had drawn up a contract to compensate her with one-third of his assets.
Even if they couldn't be a couple, he would take care of Jamie for the rest of his life to show him his gratitude.
But what Jamie did now made him feel like he was an idiot, having been fooled by her for so long.
Jamie could never go back to being the gentle, kind-hearted person she used to hold dear. On the contrary, he felt sick thinking about her.
«Jamie, this is the last time I will return your kindness. I won't let you die. Instead, I will let you live a good life.
Then he turned to Alec and ordered, “Take her to the seaside villa.”
Jamie's face turned as white as a sheet. Lying on the ground, she screamed: “No, Jarrod! I'm not going to that chalet. I want to go to the hospital. Jarrod, please..."
"Don't let me hear your voice again," Jarrod said mercilessly. As he spoke, there was no expression on his handsome face.
«Remember, this is the last favor I will do you. Otherwise, you will stay in prison for the rest of your life.
These words sent a shiver through Jamie. His body trembled like a leaf in the cold wind.
If Jarrod wanted to find evidence of his crimes, it would be a piece of cake for him.
Before Jamie could react, Jarrod had already turned around and walked away without hesitation.
Soon, Jarrod and Nicole arrived at a private hospital.
As soon as Nicole entered the room, she saw Dora lying in the intensive care unit.
There was no expression on Dora's face. It was as if she were in a deep sleep.
“I want to go into the ICU,” Nicole said with a shaky voice, looking at Dora through the glass wall.
Logically, I couldn't enter the ICU.
But considering Dora's current condition and out of humanity, the doctor allowed Nicole to come in and see Dora one last time.
Ultimately, Nicole would have to decide whether to take her off the respirator or not.
After changing into sterile clothes, Nicole walked in slowly on shaky legs.
Instantly, tears fell down her face like a waterfall.
She was alone with her mother at the time, so she could show her more vulnerable side as much as she wanted.
«Mom, I know you miss my father a lot. But why can't you stay with me for a few more days? Just a few more days, please. Mother…
Dad... Why do you have to leave me? Why don't you wait for me?
Nicole cried so hard she was out of breath. His body went numb for a moment. Then, he felt pain all over his body.
Their hoarse, distressed cries filled the entire ICU. I was overcome with sadness.
Visiting hours soon ended.
Nicole knelt on the floor and whispered, "Mom, dad, wait for me. We will meet soon."
In the surveillance room, Jarrod watched Nicole on the screen, a pang of pain hitting his heart.
Jarrod longed to hug Nicole, but he was fully aware that he was in no condition to do so.
During the silent car ride back, neither of them said a word.
Arriving at the mourning room, Jarrod realized that Nicole had succumbed to sleep, exhausted from being awake for two days in a row.
Observing her peaceful sleep, Jarrod preferred not to disturb her, letting her rest in the car.
“Wlaah…” Suddenly, Nicole started crying in her sleep.
Her body trembled, and her choked sobs affected Jarrod deeply.
Feeling as if his heart was trapped by chains and grappling with immense guilt, Jarrod's face turned ashen.
Then he did what he had wanted so much. He gently hugged Nicole.
In her dreams, Nicole, mistaking him for someone else, clung tightly to his arm.
Jarrod, breathing deeply, remained still, afraid to wake her.
After a while, fatigue overcame Jarrod.
He had been awake for two days and the proximity of Nicole, who was the center of his confusion, made him sleepy.
Nicole's eyes snapped open as she heard Jarrod's steady breathing.
Contrary to what it seemed, she had not been asleep.
The idea of resting next to someone he considered a demon was inconceivable.
Silently, he pulled out of Jarrod's embrace, leaving him slumped against the seat, vulnerable to sleep.
The moonlight cast a deceptive glow on his stern but striking features, hiding his underlying ruthlessness.
Nicole, looking at the driver's seat belt, a sinister idea forming in her mind, contemplated an evil plan. And it was to kill Jarrod.
The weight of his suffering and the tragedies of the Lawrence family could be traced back to this man.
Nicole believed that by eliminating the root of these evils, she could finally give her parents peace.
In his mind, avenging them meant joining them in the afterlife.
As she pulled out the seat belt and wrapped it around Jarrod's neck, her hands shook and tears streamed down her face.
I had never crushed an ant, how could I kill a human being?
Frozen, unable to complete the final act, her resolve wavered.
Then, a deep, harsh voice broke the silence. "Why stop now?"
Jarrod's eyes widened, his gaze in the moonlight unreadable.
He reached out, squeezing the back of Nicole's hand, which was still gripping the seat belt. His voice was icy as he asked, "Do you need help?"
