Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 233
? ? ? ? ?
Nicole listened carefully to Jarrod's accusations.
Stomach ulcer? Bastard? Kieran's sudden involvement?
Everything seemed like a well-laid trap to entangle her.
He wondered why she justified such elaborate plans of others.
Even without those accusations, Jarrod's treatment of him was harsh enough.
What did he gain from all this?
Maintaining her composure, Nicole replied, “Jarrod, has Jamie told you this story? Stomach ulcer, an illegitimate child, Kieran's involvement. "It seemed like he had put a lot of effort into weaving such a complex story."
"Be quiet!" Jarrod's eyes burned with fury.
«You have no right to talk about Jamie like that! "He doesn't look anything like you."
In Jarrod's mind, Jamie was flawed, but not to the point of orchestrating such a plan.
«Jarrod, a simple checkup can confirm if I have stomach cancer. As for the child..."
Nicole paused, her heart sinking. She had wanted to give birth to the baby to ease her parents' agony when she would one day die from cancer. But if Jarrod knew, he would never let her have it.
Jarrod's gaze was icy as he interrupted her: "Did you lose your word? You probably don't even know who the child's father is. Since you crave that lifestyle, I will grant you that wish!
Suddenly, he lifted her up effortlessly. He was surprised by its lightness. He didn't weigh more than a child.
Nicole, unsure of his intentions, became scared.
“Jarrod, where are you taking me? Let go of me. I have resigned from my company. "You have no right to do this to me."
Undeterred, Jarrod carried her to his car and put her inside.
"Don't you have the right?"
Jarrod's laugh was cold as he threw a stack of documents in Nicole's face.
"Read this and then tell me about my rights!"
The papers hit Nicole's face, stinging it. He picked one up, his limited legal knowledge enough to detect the obvious gaps in the Lawrence Group project detailed in the document.
His hands shook as he flipped through each page, and he only stopped when he saw his father's signature and the official company seal on the last page.
She trembled, disbelief taking over her.
Jarrod watched her reaction, his voice icy.
«See? "Your father's actions could put him in jail."
Nicole's voice shook.
«It's a fake! "My father would never sign this."
Jarrod's chuckle was bitter.
"Falsification? We have audio and video evidence. Your father signed it himself, while he was sick in bed. Her trusted aide, Brett, gave it to her, promising to secure your position as heir.
Nicole was incredulous.
“Did you bribe Brett?”
Brett had worked for his father for decades, always trustworthy.
Jarrod scoffed.
«Did you bribe him? "He came to me, ready to betray your father for his benefit."
Nicole's world collapsed. Brett, the man he trusted, had deceived them.
Maddened, she tore the documents to shreds and let the pieces fall to the floor.
Jarrod leaned against the car and lit a cigarette nonchalantly.
«Break them all you want. "I can put them back together easily."
Hearing this, Nicole acted irrationally. He began to put the broken pieces into his mouth, swallowing them desperately.
Nicole continued to stuff more paper into her mouth, her actions becoming more frantic.
At first, Jarrod watched her with some amusement. However, as she persisted, his amusement turned to concern.
Did he really intend to swallow all those pieces?
Dropping his cigarette, Jarrod stepped forward to stop her. She got angry and said, “Have you gone crazy?
Spit them out."
But Nicole didn't seem to notice, her mouth tightly shut as she swallowed the dry, sharp shards.
The paper scraped painfully against his throat, like a blade piercing it.
Jarrod, now furious, grabbed her chin firmly.
“Spit them out!”
Nicole, ignoring him, struggled to continue, her throat emitting a painful clearing.
With his fingers, Jarrod pried her mouth open and scolded her: Are you crazy? Swallowing this won't change anything. "They are just backup copies."
Backups… Nicole realized. Of course, Jarrod wouldn't have given him the originals. How funny! They were backups.
He let Jarrod take the paper from his mouth, his throat raw and sore. The bloody scraps of paper looked like diseased cells, a gruesome sight.
Jarrod dragged her out and began rinsing her mouth with mineral water.
He poured the water liberally, soaking Nicole completely.
Standing there, Nicole was passive, like a lifeless statue, not resisting as the water soaked her completely.
Under the torn coat, a black sweater tight to his body contrasted with the paleness of his skin.
Her serious illness had dimmed the radiance of her complexion, making her appear more vulnerable. Her slender figure, with its subtle curves and fragile waist, had a discreet charm.
Her delicate face only increased her captivating presence.
Jarrod, who was holding the water bottle, tensed and his breathing became deeper.
His hand involuntarily went to her waist and impulsively tugged at her sweater, exposing the pale skin beneath.
Nicole snapped out of her daze, shivering from the cold.
“Jarrod, stop!”
His eyes, cold and furious, fixed on her.
«It's only been a few days and you have already managed to raise eighty million. "Were you that busy with men?"
Nicole looked away, her silence becoming heavy. He could not reveal the origin of the money.
Jarrod, interpreting her silence as guilt, felt a surge of anger. His handsome features twisted in disdain.
"Do you have any idea how someone as shameless as you is treated?" he mocked.
Then he pushed her against the hood of the car, his voice harsh.
"Kneel down!" he ordered, pressing his leg against hers to force her to obey.
