Mitchel ignored the medical staff and the pain in his legs. He refused to get on the stretcher.

He walked slowly, enduring the pain and making a mental note not to act so foolishly in the future, especially for Raegan, who wasn't interested in him. He wanted to record the horrible feelings he was experiencing in his mind to remind himself that he would never find himself in a situation like that again.

Raegan looked at Mitchel with sad eyes. His heart hurt.

Matteo turned to Raegan.

“Madam, Mr. Dixon believed it was you who was lying there motionless. "He was dying moments before until he discovered it wasn't you."

Tears threatened to spill and Raegan did her best to hold them back. She knew Mitchel was upset and wouldn't even let her explain.

“Could you update me on his condition in the hospital?”

He tried to control the breaks in his voice.

Being an assistant, Matteo didn't have much say in this, but he still advised: "Mr. Dixon is really worried about you. "I think you'd better see him yourself and see how he is." With that, he turned around and left, the bodyguards following suit.

Raegan was treated in the ambulance, and once finished, she was taken to the police station to give a statement.

The evidence of Tessa's kidnapping was quite clear. Raegan quickly gave a statement and left the police station.

There were blood stains on her dress, so she had to change before going to the hospital.

He arrived at the hospital and called Matteo, but he did not answer.

He asked around and it turned out that Mitchel had been taken to the VIP room. He had been treated immediately, so he was not in danger.

Raegan was finally able to relax a little. His phone rang. It was Matteo. It turned out that it was not a good time to visit. There was some noise. They looked like Mitchel's parents.

"Alright. “I understand,” she replied. It wouldn't be wise for him to visit her when Mitchel's parents were there.

Raegan turned around and headed to the second floor to visit Henley's living room.

Henley had just gone under the knife and was still unconscious. Their parents were abroad, so it wasn't easy for them to get there. The hospital staff was taking care of him.

Since Henley was injured saving her, Raegan felt responsible to take care of him. She took a few days off work and stayed by Henley's side, waiting for her parents.

The doctor entered.

"Are you related to him?"

«I am your friend. His parents are on the way. They will arrive tomorrow.

How are you doing?"

«Luckily, the fall was not that bad. He landed in a dirt pit. His life is not in danger, but the wooden stick that pierced his leg had some mold on it. "We will evaluate the evolution when the family arrives."

The doctor left once he had finished.

That uneasy feeling in Raegan's chest began to grow again. Why was Henley there at that critical moment and saved her? She would only be able to understand it once he was awake.

Raegan stayed by Henley's side all night, only taking turns with the nurses a few times.

Before dawn, the nurse took turns with Raegan. Raegan took the opportunity to return home. She remembered that Mitchel had liked the porridge she had made last time, so she decided to make some and take it to him. When everything was ready, it was already dawn.

Raegan rushed to the hospital to see Mitchel. I had consulted it before with Matteo. There was no one else, apart from him and the nurse, in his room at that time.

Matteo opened the door when he saw Raegan approaching.

As Mitchel's long-time assistant, Matteo had learned to decipher Mitchel's expressions and actions. Mitchel's eyes lit up when someone came to visit him and darkened when the visitor wasn't Raegan. Obviously, he had been waiting for Raegan to appear.

Mitchel had been resting. His eyes were closed, but they snapped open when he heard the creak of the door. Seeing that it was Raegan, he looked away nonchalantly.

He seemed not interested in seeing her. Raegan's face paled, a mix of emotions welling up inside her.

He took a deep breath to calm himself and exhaled slowly, regaining his composure. Then he slowly walked towards his bed.

Mitchel raised his eyelids and said impatiently, "Who let you in?" Mitchel's eyes flashed with annoyance, seemingly conveying his distaste for Raegan's appearance.

The urge to run overwhelmed Raegan, but her feet wouldn't move.

He clenched his hands tightly, still wanting to explain himself.

«Yesterday... I didn't mean to ignore you. I witnessed Henley's sudden fall and believed he was in grave danger. I panicked..."

Henley had sacrificed himself to save Raegan at that critical moment.

The scene weakened his knees, turning his attention to the seriously injured Henley. His instincts prevented him from prioritizing Mitchel at that moment.

Furthermore, Henley was still unconscious, which demonstrated the seriousness of his case.

“I am deeply moved by the fact that you were willing to sacrifice yourself to save me…”

Mitchel couldn't bear to listen anymore. Moved? Was that it? Didn't you have anything else to say? Yesterday, he had wheeled himself into Henley's ward, hoping to find some clue. But what did he find?

Raegan was taking care of Henley.

If he really cared about him, why didn't he check on him at night? He could have done it, but he didn't. Instead, he ignored it completely. Was he so unconscious? Didn't she realize that he had feelings for her?

Accumulated frustration hardened Mitchel's expression, his gaze becoming cold and distant.

“Are you done yet?”

Raegan's jaw dropped. She remained frozen in place, stunned by his cold gaze. His heart hurt a lot. He wanted to speak, but the words didn't come.

Mitchel's gaze drifted to the magazine in his hand.

"You should leave when you're done."

His cold words hit Raegan like a hammer, causing the pain in her chest to increase. Raegan held her breath, afraid she would end up crying if she didn't.

A few seconds passed and she looked at him, her voice shaking.

“Is that really what you want?”

Was he being sincere? Did he really want her to leave?

Mitchel didn't answer anything, but instead tightened his grip on the magazine. His fingers turned pale from how tightly he gripped her.

His silence only made Raegan feel worse. He put the thermos on the table and stared at it.

Just when Mitchel thought Raegan was about to leave, she unexpectedly leaned in and her lips gently met his. She lacked tactics, but she kissed him gently.

A few seconds passed and she pulled away.

«Well? What is your answer now?
