Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 189
? ? ? ? ?
The impact was brutal.
Bryce's mouth was a bloody mess, and he stumbled, hitting the wall with tremendous force.
A dull impact echoed through the room, a painful punctuation to the moment.
Bryce, however, didn't say a word. He gritted his teeth and stood up.
Hector, usually the epitome of calm, now wore an unmistakable mask of anger. His eyes flashed with fury.
«Bryce, perhaps I have spoiled you too much. "That is the only explanation for your total disregard for the lives of others."
Bryce's mouth twitched, but he said nothing.
«Your cousin is in the hospital. If something happens to him, you will have to answer for it.
Fear finally appeared in Bryce's eyes. He looked down and stammered, “I'm sorry. I... I didn't mean to... I never expected something like this to happen.
Hector's tone turned icy.
«Do you feel it? Keep it to yourself. "I'm disappointed in you."
Bryce's face paled at her harsh words.
Hector continued, “I have raised you alone and spoiled you for years since I grieved for your mother's death. Now, it seems I made a mistake. Look at yourself. Do you really deserve your mother's sacrifices?
Bryce raised his bloodshot eyes and asked, Is it true? Did my mother die because of me?
It had been many years since Hector had spoken about Bryce's mother.
This made Bryce believe that he had been abandoned.
Bryce clung to Hector's arm, desperation in his voice.
Tell me everything about my mother":
Hector's gaze turned cold.
"I promised your mother I would tell you everything when you were old enough to take care of yourself."
Bryce suddenly shouted, “But I want to know now! Why are you hiding it from me? Tell me, right now!
However, Bryce's request did not affect Hector. Hector shrugged Bryce's hand and said nonchalantly, “You can go back now. "We don't need you here."
With that said, Héctor headed to the doctor's office to inquire about Mitchel's condition.
"Hector". Bryce's voice came from behind him.
With a wry smile, Bryce asked, "I'm not your biological son, am I?"
Bryce had secretly taken a paternity test when he was thirteen. The results revealed that he and Héctor were not related.
Bryce had kept this secret to himself for five long years. Today, finally, he revealed it.
Hector stopped briefly and walked away without saying a word.
Frustration etched on his face, Bryce slammed his fist into the wall.
Blood immediately gushed from his fingers.
Bryce leaned against the wall for what seemed like an eternity before turning around.
To his surprise, Eloise was behind him.
Eloise wanted to say something, but hesitated. However, there was undisguised pity in his eyes.
Eloise had evidently overheard their conversation.
He hesitated for a moment and then stammered: "I'm sorry... About last night at the store..."
Bryce's expression changed abruptly and he snapped, "Get lost."
He pushed Eloise away and left without looking back.
Eloise, overcome with sadness, immediately burst into tears.
The night before, she and Bryce had played a drinking game in the store, and in the end they had drunk more than planned.
At some point, he caught a whiff of a familiar fragrance reminiscent of Mitchel's cologne.
In a cloud, Eloise reached out and grabbed onto the person next to her.
From what she remembered, he seemed to lean in to kiss her.
Beyond that, his memories were hazy.
When others woke her up in the middle of the night, she found herself sharing the same tent with Bryce.
When she woke up, she touched her lips absentmindedly, not knowing if she had kissed Bryce.
Phew! If she kissed Bryce, it would be a great loss for her.
It was his first kiss and he didn't even remember how it had felt.
How had it happened?
Impossible! It couldn't be true.
Plus, he didn't like Bryce. Well, the feeling was mutual. Eloise was lost in a whirlwind of thoughts.
Meanwhile, Raegan passed out after being hooked up to a line.
The fever and intense stress left her unconscious all night.
Even in her sleep, she felt a little restless and would wake up with beads of cold sweat on her forehead.
Raegan looked out the window into the blinding sunlight and asked the nurse who came in to check on her IV infusion.
Only then did he realize that he had been unconscious for a long time.
Ignoring the nurse's advice, he ripped off the infusion tube and ran to the ICU.
In the ICU, he asked the doctor and learned that Mitchel had been moved to the VIP room.
So Raegan turned on her heel and headed straight to the VIP room.
He had not fully recovered from the fever. It didn't take him long to find himself out of breath and his forehead was drenched in sweat.
When he reached the door of the VIP room, two stern-faced bodyguards blocked his way.
"I'm sorry. Can you tell Mitchel that Raegan wants to see him?
Raegan pleaded.
With an impassive expression, the bodyguard said coldly: “Miss, we have received orders that no one enters the room.”
Raegan was taken aback when she heard this.
Hadn't the doctor said that Mitchel had regained consciousness?
Did that mean Mitchel didn't want to see her?
This thought left Raegan a little dejected.
But she wasn't ready to give up, so she sat on a bench next to the elevator.
He thought he would feel less guilty if he was closer to Mitchel.
He remained there until nightfall.
Raegan skipped meals, but occasionally went to the bathroom.
Even the bodyguards took turns.
After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, Raegan couldn't shake the feeling that Mitchel was avoiding her.
He approached the stoic bodyguard and implored, “Could I convey a message to him? "I'll leave when I know Mr. Dixon is okay."
The bodyguards remained inflexible, just like those of the previous shift.
«Miss, we are just doing our job. Please don't make things difficult for us."
Rejected once again, Raegan decided to try her luck with Luciana.
The elevator doors opened as soon as he turned around.
A middle-aged man emerged, his hair impeccably combed and an air of seriousness even before he spoke.
Raegan looked at him and felt a spark of familiarity.
Without much thought, she turned towards the elevator, but the man stopped her.
“Hey, wait a minute!”
Pausing, Raegan looked at him questioningly.
"Yeah?"
Alexis narrowed her eyes and looked her up and down.
"Are you Mitchel's ex-wife?"
I had done some research on Raegan and had a photo of her. Her appearance in real life surpassed the beauty captured in the photo, making it easy for him to recognize her.
Judging from Alexis's tone, Raegan guessed her identity and nodded affirmatively.
"I'm Mitchel's father," Alexis stated, giving him a brief introduction.
Raegan returned a polite greeting.
"Pleased to meet you".
However, Alexis looked at her coldly and said, "Mitchel married you without informing us."
The revelation caught Raegan off guard. She had assumed that Mitchel had discussed her marriage with her family, and Luciana had never mentioned otherwise.
Perplexed why Alexis was bringing this up now, Raegan held her breath, waiting patiently for him to continue.
«When I was abroad, I found out about your divorce. "Frankly, I see it as a blessing for him."
Alexis paused, then continued, her words dripping with contempt: "The Dixon family is respectable, and you don't deserve my son."
His tone dripped with contempt, leaving Raegan visibly pale.
