Chapter 1643:

Jarrod replied, “I don't trust Roscoe. “I’ll have someone else confirm his safety before we proceed.”
Jarrod had no faith in Roscoe, and Nicole didn't argue about it. They were both focused on Austin's safety. Jarrod's doubts showed that he was really serious about this. There was no point in arguing.
“Okay, just make sure it doesn't take too long,” Nicole said.
At that moment Nicole's phone range. She checked it and saw that it was Rhett.
Before heading to the hospital, Nicole had informed Rhett that she was on her way, so he was probably worried about her being late. He answered and assured her that he would arrive shortly.
As she ended the call, Nicole noticed Jarrod watching her intently. She stood up and said, “I have to go now.”
Jarrod said, "You should keep your distance from Rhett. I don't trust him."
Jarrod's instincts told him something was wrong. After digging into Rhett's background and finding nothing suspicious, Jarrod struggled to accept Rhett's clean, almost too perfect story.
It was this perfection that Jarrod worried. He doubted that Rhett could have ulterior motives for getting close to Nicole.
Although Rhett had worked for the Dimn Group, all of Jarrod's investigations had revealed nothing suspicious.
Nicole asked, “Why do you say that?” She thought Jarrod had discovered concrete evidence or specific suspicions.
But Jarrod simply replied: “Just a feeling.”
Nicole was speechless. She said, “Jarrod, not everyone is out for you. The world is not filled with as many traitors as you think.”
Jarrod didn't argue. He had a hard time trusting others because he didn't have many trusted people in his life.
When Nicole left, Conor showed up just in time.
Noticing the half-finished bowl, Conor looked satisfied. “Mr. Schultz, you need to eat more to heal faster.”
“Okay,” Jarrod replied. “You've done a good job.”
Conor, feeling happy, shared Alec's situation. "About Alec, you asked me to dig deeper and I discovered something strange."
Jarrod asked, “What did you find out?”
Conor explained: “The day Alec supposedly tried to end his life, he had kicked everyone out.”
At first, this action had seemed to confirm Alec's intention to commit suicide, as it seemed premeditated.
But Jarrod doubted it. The day before the incident, Alec had been talking to him normally, showing no signs of distress.
Furthermore, Alec felt a deep hatred for Roscoe. Knowing Alec's vengeful nature, Jarrod reasoned that Alec would not simply end his own life.
Jarrod had kept his doubts to himself at the time. Instead, he used the situation as an outlet for his frustration, directing his anger at Nicole and holding her responsible for everything. In fact, he had been quietly investigating the details of Alec's incident.
Alec had now been sent overseas for medical attention. Although he was still unconscious, his life was no longer in danger.
