Chapter 1629:

But Rhett reassured her with a confident smile: “Miss Lawrence, trust me, I can get us home without any problems. It's really nothing. I've consulted with my friends at the research institute. “I’ve received prompt treatment and the risk of infection is very low.”
Don't worry too much. If such an extraordinary event were to affect me, I would accept it as fate. I hold no grudge against you.
Nicole is amazed by her openness and resilience. Wishing she could adopt even a fraction of her perspective, she realized her own suffering could be less.
Nicole headed to the hospital.
Rhett had been transferred to the provincial hospital for specialized infectious disease care.
When Nicole arrived, she found Rhett already hooked up to an IV. He seemed surprised to see her. “Miss Lawrence, what do you bring here?” I have asked.
“I was just passing by and thought I'd check on you,” Nicole replied, not wanting to admit that she had come expressly to see Rhett.
Noticing his discomfort and pale appearance, Nicole asked him: “Are you thirsty? Would you like some water?”
Rhett, though not particularly thirsty, had a sore throat. “If it's all right, could you get me some water?” I have asked.
"Sure, I'm going now," Nicole said.
"My thermos is in my briefcase; I can't reach it like this. Could you get it for me?"
Nicole pulled the thermos out of her briefcase and, without realizing it, she also pulled out Rhett's work.
On the back of the ID was a carefully preserved photo of a woman with a bright smile and a lovely face.
Nicole assumed she must be Rhett's girlfriend, although he had never mentioned her. It was obvious that he was deeply in love with her, keeping her photo so close.
Rhett, stunned, didn't notice the incident. Nicole quickly put the card away and went to get some water. When she returned, she ran into Conor, Jarrod's assistant.
“Miss Lawrence, are you here to see Mr. Schultz?” Conor greeted her enthusiastically.
“No, I’m not coming,” Nicole replied, feeling a little uncomfortable with Conor’s exuberance.
Conor looked at the thermos in his hand, his expression puzzled.
Nicole explained: “A friend of mine is receiving treatment.”
“Ah, I see…” Conor replied, disappointment evident in his voice.
As Nicole agreed and started to leave, Conor quickly added, “Miss Lawrence, could you check on Mr. Schultz? His back injuries have worsened and he is in a bad mood.”
Given the way Jarrod had been treated, his dark expression spoke volumes, even if he remained silent.
Conor knew that Jarrod's anguish was due to not seeing the person he most wanted to see.
Unlike Conor, Alec had been with Jarrod for many years and felt a deep admiration and concern for him. This led Alec to favor Jarrod and resent Nicole.
If Alec could empathize with Nicole's perspective, he wouldn't voice many of his demands and might even feel angry about them.
