Chapter 1627:

"Make way! Make way," a voice shouted.

Before Rhett could maneuver, a single nurse hurried down the hall, escorting a visibly intoxicated man.

The intoxicated man gave off a strong smell of alcohol, unmistakably drunk.

Determined not to share the elevator with the drunk, Rhett turned to Nicole and suggested, "Let's wait for the next one."

Nicole agreed as Rhett began to lead her.

Before they could retreat, however, the drunken man unexpectedly lunged at Nicole. In a protective reflex, Rhett raised his arm to shield her.

The drunk grabbed Rhett's arm and sank his teeth into him.

“Umm…” I muttered incoherently as I bit into it.

“What the hell? Let him go!” Rhett demanded, trying to get the intoxicated man off of him.

Despite his intoxicated state, the man exhibited surprising strength, preventing Rhett from breaking free.

It wasn't until the nurse intervened that they managed to get the drunk off his feet. By then, Rhett's arm bore a bleeding bite mark.

Nicole was stunned at what was happening. “What is wrong with this person?” Her face showed clear disgust as she looked at the drunk's friend.

Started by the bite mark on Rhett's hand, the friend quickly apologized: "I'm so sorry. He had too much to drink and he didn't mean to. Please forgive him."

Rhett, appreciating the genuine apology, waved it away. “Okay, help him up.”

The drunk man kept muttering to himself, “Tasty. So tasty…”

As the doors closed, Rhett elevator stood by them.

In a concerned tone, Nicole suggested, "Mr. Bates, you should disinfect and bandage your hand."

“There's no need to go to the trouble,” Rhett replied calmly.

Nicole insisted: “It is wiser to bandage her. We are already at the hospital; it will be quick.”

Convinced by Nicole, Rhett agreed to have his hand treated.

It was a busy day, so Rhett spent half an hour waiting to be cleaned and bandaged.

As Rhett reached for the wheelchair, he noticed that Nicole was already up. “Mr. Bates, I'm up. Let's not bother with the wheelchair. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you,” he said.

Noticing Nicole's recovery, Rhett did not press her further. He handed her back to her wheelchair and they returned to the elevator.

Near the elevator, fragments of a conversation between two worried nurses were captured.

"Have you heard? There's been a serious incident," he said to a nurse.

"What happened?" the others asked.

"A newly admitted patient has tested positive for HIV. Everyone who has been in contact with him must be tested."

"Why should all contacts be tested? Their status has not been disclosed?"
