Rhett, maintaining a stern demeanor, replied, “Madam, slander is a serious accusation and a criminal offense. You have accused my client of being a homewrecker without any evidence, which constitutes defamation. “We will take legal action.”
Rhett added: “And one more thing: your daughter was recently arrested for assaulting my client, and here you are, spreading false accusations. Are you expecting to be arrested too?”
Rhett's calm and clear response made it clear to viewers that Nicole might not be the culprit.
The public, which was initially carried away by Hallie's dramatic claims, began to see the truth behind the accusations. Hallie was motivated more by revenge than by the facts.
The older spectators, well versed in the ways of the world, began to leave, muttering among themselves: "Let's take a step back. We don't know the whole story and it's a mistake to pass judgment."
Seeing the crowd disperse, Hallie became furious. She exploded and shouted, “You idiots! This woman has destroyed my family. My daughter's future was bright, but now she has a criminal record, all because of this vile woman. “You are all idiots.”
Hallie's rant shocked viewers, who did not expect to be the target of her fury.
He continued to berate the crowd, shouting: “What I am saying is the truth, you bunch of idiots!”
The audience, who had initially been understanding, now found themselves in Hallie's crosshairs.
Speechless and bewildered, murmurs of discontent began to spread throughout the group.
"I'm not surprised that she says: 'Like father, like son'. With that rudeness, I'm not surprised by her daughter's behavior."
"Exactly, if her daughter was really blameless, she wouldn't have ended up in custody," added another passerby.
Hallie was speechless. She had not expected public opinion to turn against her so quickly. In a fit of rage, she screamed: “You don't understand! This woman is the cause of my daughter's suffering. “This woman is the culprit, not the victim.”
However, the crowd was no longer receptive to Hallie's claims.
His aggressive behavior only served to alienate them further.
"You boast of your connections and your power? Then how did they arrest your daughter if she is innocent?" an elderly woman snapped.
“Exactly,” added another elderly woman. “We lack money and power, but they don't stop us. What does that tell you?”
Seeing that the situation was getting worse, the administration stepped in. “Let's all go home. “This is no place to gather for a show.”
Meanwhile, Jarrod was deep in the middle of a critical international energy meeting, discussing important deals with world leaders. Conor took a call about the unfolding drama and looked visibly worried.
Despite the importance of the meeting, Jarrod had made it clear that any news regarding Nicole had to be communicated to him immediately.
After a moment of hesitation, Conor decided to take a risk and entered the meeting room. He approached Jarrod amidst the surprised looks of everyone present and informed him of the urgent situation.
Jarrod quickly put his papers aside, grabbed Conor by the arm and ordered, “You take care of the meeting!”
Conor's jaw dropped. He wondered how he could possibly handle such an important meeting, but before he could voice his concerns, Jarrod was gone, the door quickly closing behind him.
