Chapter 1608:

? ? ? ? ?

Simply being able to communicate in basic terms was a significant achievement for Dora.

Back in Dora's living room, Nicole spent some more time with her. However, after their initial exchange, Dora remained silent.

As Dora soon needed to rest, Nicole quietly left the room, choosing not to disturb her.

After leaving the sanatorium, Nicole avoided the taxi rank and chose to stay for a moment at the entrance. Without hesitation, she headed resolutely towards the green belt where a silver car was parked.

Nicole knocked on the window and slid the glass down, revealing a familiar, handsome face: Jarrod was inside.

Jarrod showed no sign of surprise at being discovered. The vehicle in question belonged to his assistant, a deliberately discreet choice.

However, Nicole's keen sensitivity meant that she had long been aware of Jarrod's surveillance, but refrained from unmasking him.

“We’ll discuss it tomorrow morning,” Nicole said tersely, her tone icy.

With that statement, Nicole turned on her heel and walked away without a second thought.

A discreet black car arrived to pick up Nicole. Jarrod saw Rhett, the lawyer who had visited him earlier that day, sitting next to Nicole in the car.

Nicole had received a text message from Rhett, indicating his desire to speak with her. She had therefore arranged to meet him at the sanatorium.

Nicole also harbored a desire to gauge Jarrod's response to the presence of another man in her life. Jarrod always exuded selfishness and dominance, possessing a palpable sense of possessiveness.

Even though Jarrod assured her that he would commit and was willing to let her go after the baby was born, Nicole had doubts about his sincerity. So she tried to observe his reaction.

In the silver car, Jarrod's fists clenched tightly at the sight of Rhett in the company of Nicole. But soon, he slowly relaxed. He understood the imperative to hold on and avoid any mistakes at that moment.

Jarrod knew that Nicole's openness to discussion indicated that there was still room for negotiation.

I have contacted the sanatorium to find out what had happened. The staff informed him in detail of what had happened.

After ending the call, Jarrod was silent for a moment before exhaling deeply. God only knew how he had managed to get through these days.

The abortion pills were with Nicole, and Jarrod was constantly anxious, fearing that she might take them at any moment, a decision that would be final.

Although she had made threats, she could sense her own uncertainty. Besides, Nicole was not someone who was easily frightened by threats. On the contrary, she was disobedient and unwilling to compromise.

This stubbornness would have been admirable in anyone else, but with Nicole, Jarrod had repeatedly crushed her spirit until all her pride vanished. If Nicole had been anyone else, she would have already admitted defeat. Yet she managed to thrive against all odds.

Did Jarrod regret his past actions? Yes, certainly. Now, all he could hope for was to keep his child. He hoped that Nicole's mother's improved health would positively influence Nicole, softening her heart and convincing her to keep the baby.

Upon returning home, Nicole received an unexpected call. It was Dr. Kash Torres, who had seen her during her visit.
