Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 160
? ? ? ? ?
At a hotel in Ardlens, Henley's parents were anxiously awaiting his arrival at the entrance. As Raegan approached, Henley's mother hugged her lovingly and handed her some gifts.
Gerda was obviously delighted with her son's choice of bride.
Raegan did not have the courage to reject those gifts prepared by Gerda. Following Henley's instruction, he accepted them, but secretly planned to return them later.
Just then, Henley received a call and gestured for them to go up without him.
Gerda linked arms with Raegan and they chatted amicably as they walked toward the elevator.
But just after taking two steps, Raegan stopped dead when she saw a familiar figure. It was Mitchel.
The tall, commanding figure, flanked by a group, was heading towards the same elevator.
Their gazes met briefly. But in the next second, both of them looked away with feigned indifference.
Raegan couldn't help but think, what a coincidence!
Not wanting to share the elevator with Mitchel, Raegan slowed her pace.
Unfortunately for her, just as the doors were about to close, Mitchel held the door open with his hand and stared at her and Gerda.
“Are you coming in?”
As Raegan was about to say she would wait for the next elevator, Gerda led her inside. Gerda turned to Mitchel and thanked him with a smile.
Once the elevator doors closed, a deafening silence enveloped the space. Mitchel didn't say anything, and so did everyone around him, making the atmosphere strange.
Gerda, still holding Raegan's hand, said enthusiastically, "Raegan, I've liked you since the moment I saw you. You are so adorable. You and Henley should get married soon and settle down. I'm looking forward to the day. You and Henley start a family and have children.
Hearing this, Raegan felt sharp eyes boring into her back.
He managed a tight smile and replied: "Gerda, it's too early to think about that..."
"I understand that you young people want to spend more time together before the baby is born," Gerda assured with a smile, "But don't worry.
“Once you give birth to the baby, I will be there to help you take care of him.”
Raegan's embarrassment grew, and she could only laugh awkwardly in response.
Ding. Finally, the elevator reached their floor.
Raegan hurried to escort Gerda out, afraid that Gerda's enthusiasm might lead her to say more shocking words.
Raegan was quite unsettled, not only by the unexpected encounter with Mitchel, but also by Gerda's pointed questions about marriage and children.
Although it was difficult for him to respond, he managed to remain polite.
«Don't worry, dear. "I'll make sure you have a great wedding in the future," Gerda continued, seemingly oblivious to Raegan's discomfort.
Raegan smiled uncomfortably. She couldn't shake the feeling that Gerda was rushing her into marriage. No wonder Henley wanted me to pretend to be his girlfriend tonight.
Not wanting to make things difficult for Henley, Raegan just smiled and said nothing.
A few moments later, he excused himself, as it was too much to bear.
Reagan headed to the bathroom. Once inside, he splashed cold water on his face and the cold helped him clear his mind.
Meeting Mitchel twice in one day had put him in a bad mood. Not only that, her suggestion that she was flattering herself was especially hurtful. How ridiculous.
It was ironic that his once unreserved love was worthless in his eyes.
Luckily, Raegan had been spared further humiliation by divorce.
Once she was calm, she fixed her hair in the mirror and applied some lip balm. With that, she was ready to face the world again.
But when he came out, he saw Mitchel smoking in a corner.
Their eyes met through the haze of smoke and Raegan's heart skipped a beat.
He felt something in her gaze.
Raegan didn't want to meet him. But I had to get past him, as it was the only way to get back to the chamber.
He tried to calm down. Mitchel seemed disinterested in her today, and he was never short of admirers. She doubted he would go out of his way to bother her.
At that moment, he feigned serenity and started on his way back.
As he approached Mitchel, he put out his cigarette in the ashtray and, to his surprise, blocked his way.
Raegan stopped dead, facing the wall, and waited for him to approach, but he didn't move and held his stance.
She looked up, and her heart raced as she met his icy gaze.
Raegan tried, with all her might, to remain calm and composed.
"Excuse me."
“Where are you going?” Mitchel asked, which took her by surprise.
After a brief pause, Raegan responded flippantly, "That's none of your business."
That's when she realized that Mitchel wasn't going to move an inch to let her pass.
Since she didn't want to make a scene with him, especially in public, she tried to squeeze through the narrow space.
But when Raegan moved, Mitchel grabbed her thigh, almost making her trip. Panicking, she grabbed onto him for support.
To her surprise, Mitchel pulled her towards the men's bathroom.
Raegan struggled and kicked him hard. Despite his struggles, he found himself against a cubicle door.
In the bathroom of a luxurious seven-star hotel, the light was dim but bright enough to illuminate the large area. A subtle fragrance hung in the air.
Raegan was reflected in the shiny white porcelain wall. His hair was disheveled and he threw his head back involuntarily. On the other hand, Mitchel's outfit remained impeccably neat, highlighting his unkemptness.
«Mitchel, you're crazy. "Let go of me." Raegan bellowed, her eyes bloodshot with anger.
Mitchel grabbed her chin and forced her to lift her face so that she was looking into his eyes.
«You can't get away from him, huh? What has Henley done to win you over?
The contempt in his words was unmistakable.
But only Mitchel knew that the reason he said those harsh words was to hide the jealousy stirring inside him.
Raegan had consistently rejected his attempts at reconciliation.
She had tried everything, from humility to firmness, but nothing had convinced her.
His rejections had driven him almost to madness.
Settle down... Have a child... I couldn't understand how she could consider those things with someone else.
There seemed to be an electric drill in his head, which made Mitchel feel a headache.
Frustrated, Mitchel tightened his grip on her face and demanded, "Answer me!"
Raegan winced. If they hadn't held her down, she would have slapped her.
«What the hell is wrong with you, Mitchel? We are divorced. My life is none of your business. "You have no right to treat me like that."
Tears filled her eyes, but Raegan refused to back down.
“You lied to me!” Mitchel replied with his eyes burning with fury. It looked like it was going to devour her.
«Once you said you didn't like him. What is this about now? Do you want to have his child so badly?
The mention of a "baby" touched a nerve in Raegan, fueling her anger.
Of all people, Mitchel shouldn't have misunderstood her.
She had once wished to have a child with him.
Her son, who never got to see the world, left a void in her heart.
Mitchel didn't understand her pain. And now he was here, misunderstanding her intentions.
Why should she alone endure this agony?
If the mere thought of her moving on in her life with another man could hurt Mitchel's pride, maybe it was time she made him suffer too.
With this in mind, Raegan's lips curved into a smile and she said decisively, “Yes, I like it. And yes, I want to have a child with him. Satisfied? »
Mitchel's mind went blank as if a meteorite had fallen on him.
She admitted it. He finally admitted that he loved Henley!
