Chapter 1562:

? ? ? ? ?

Lost in her thoughts, Nicole was interrupted by a message from Jarrod's new assistant.

“Ma’am, Mr. Schultz would like you to dress and join him for dinner,” the assistant said, handing her a shimmering silver-sequined fishtail dress.

Nicole hesitated, not really willing to wear something so flashy, but the assistant continued, "Mr. Schultz says that if you don't wear this dress, you won't be able to go out."

Knowing that she couldn't pass up the opportunity, Nicole accepted and quickly put on the dress.

The dress clung to Nicole's curves, accentuating her waist and giving off an undeniable charm that seemed tailor-made for her. Nicole didn't understand why Jarrod suddenly wanted her to get dressed. Uneasiness was gnawing at her as she entered the dining room.

To her surprise, it wasn't just any dinner. It was a lavish banquet. Nicole wondered why Jarrod would risk taking her to such a public event. Wasn't he worried that she might use the opportunity to escape or get in touch with someone?

Before she could gather her thoughts, she was led to Jarrod's side. Dressed in a smart black suit and tie, Jarrod exuded the enigmatic charm of a seasoned gentleman.

Jarrod motioned for Nicole to take a seat next to him on the couch, and she complied without hesitation.

Just as they were settling in, a man approached with an eager smile. “Mr. Schultz, what a pleasure to see you here. I consider myself lucky to have crossed paths with you today,” he exclaimed in a tone full of flattery.

The man introduced himself, but Jarrod remained visibly disinterested, showing no desire to engage him in conversation. Eager to collaborate with the Schultz Group, the man was not short of compliments for Jarrod.

Seeing Jarrod's lack of interest, the man turned his attention to Nicole. "Is this lovely lady your partner? She's absolutely stunning," the man complimented Nicole, his words laden with admiration.

Since Jarrod had not made his marriage public, everyone assumed Nicole was his fiancée. Given Jarrod's infrequent appearances with women in recent years, bringing a woman to the banquet implied Nicole's importance, prompting the man's flattery.

Jarrod was silent and Nicole didn't respond.

Suddenly, the atmosphere became tense with awkwardness. Unfazed by the lack of response, the man maintained his enthusiasm.

"This lady has an admirable temperament. I own a jewelry store, and there is an extraordinary set of antique emeralds waiting for a worthy bearer.

Mr. Schultz, I think it complements your companion's appearance perfectly. If you like it, I'll have it sent to you so you can see it. If you don't like it, just send it back.

Clearly, this man was willing to spend money. An antique set of emeralds would probably cost a lot of money, perhaps several million.

I have generously offered it to Nicole. It seemed like he had done his research and recognized that Nicole was no ordinary partner.

Otherwise, if Jarrod changed partners frequently, it would be a waste of time and money.

Just as Nicole was about to voice her refusal, Jarrod asked her, “Do you like emeralds?”

Sensing the opportunity, the man was quick to praise them. “Miss, the emeralds in our collection are exceptional, a deep green.

They offer refreshing coolness in summer and comforting warmth in winter. Wearing such an outfit would certainly enhance a woman's elegance.
