Chapter 1545
Chapter 1545:
? ? ? ? ?
Started by the flames, the parasites stopped their pursuit, scattering in all directions. Jarrod, carrying Roscoe, sprinted quickly, with Alec and the others close behind. They soon found an exit and rushed through it.
As they left the area, the flames quickly converged, engulfing the witch clan's hidden base. Several witches, who had managed to flee but not far enough, stood frozen in terror, clinging to each other, crying.
Nicole watched the raging fire, hoping that it would eradicate not only the parasites, but also the evil practices of these witches. The fire began to spread to the ancient trees surrounding the site.
If these ancient giants caught fire, the inferno would become unstoppable.
Sensing imminent danger, Nicole urgently exclaimed, “We have to move, now!”
Just as Nicole spoke, a colossal tree, undermined at its roots by insects, began to fall. It leaned dangerously towards Jarrod and Roscoe, the latter supported by a bodyguard.
The bodyguard, recognizing the impending threat, released Roscoe and stepped away.
Reacting instinctively, Nicole screamed, “Look out!” She rushed to pull Roscoe away just in time.
At the same time, a harrowing cry of “Lord!” rang out as Alec lunged at Jarrod, trying to pull him out of the tree's devastating path.
The huge tree came crashing down, slamming into the ground and leaving behind a huge crater. If they hadn't moved when they did, they would have been crushed.
Just as Nicole caught her breath, a scream through the air. The bodyguards shouted, “Alec! “Alec!” and ran towards them.
Alec had protected Jarrod from the falling tree, and now his right arm was trapped beneath the heavy trunk. His complexion was pale, his typically strong appearance reduced to frailty.
Nicole's heart sank as she looked at Jarrod, noticing his icy gaze. It was then that she realized that Jarrod had also been in the tree's dangerous path. Without Alec's intervention, Jarrod would have been crushed.
Nicole had considered saving Jarrod and thought that with her agility, she could easily avoid the tree.
Roscoe, however, seemed vulnerable, especially after being abandoned by the bodyguard, forcing her to act instinctively to get Roscoe to safety.
Jarrod's eyes, filled with disappointment and anger, met Nicole's. She wanted to explain her actions, but his distant attitude indicated that he was not receptive to her words.
Instead, he knelt down to assess Alec's wounds, on whom he had focused his attention.
Nicole remained silent, aware that no explanation could rectify the situation now.
Alec was in critical condition. Unconscious from the pain, his arm hung by the skin at shoulder level, the underlying bone and tissue visibly damaged.
Several men tried to lift the tree, but the task was unmanageable. The tree weighed tons and removing it required heavy machinery, which was not possible in the depths of the mountainous terrain.
Even if Jarrod could get tow trucks, Alec's chances of surviving the delay were slim.
Jarrod, visibly frustrated, asked: “Has the helicopter arrived?”
"We have no signal," one of the bodyguards replied.
“Find higher ground and signal him, now!” Jarrod ordered, and a bodyguard quickly set off to carry out the order.
Roscoe, gathering his energy, examined Alec's condition and declared, "His arm must be amputated or he won't survive."
