Chapter 1503:

However, Alec's continued observations at the hospital hinted that the situation was even more intricate than it seemed. It seemed that Jamie wasn't working alone. There was someone else pulling the strings, someone who had even orchestrated Jamie undergoing surgery to look like Nicole.
When Jamie disappeared, she left everything behind and remained under the radar, suggesting that she could not have afforded such an expensive surgery on her own.
Clearly, someone else had been funding her transformation. But who could it be? That person knew Jamie and knew how important Nicole was to Jarrod.
Jarrod weighed the possibilities but, at the moment, he had no concrete leads. However, since whoever was pulling the strings behind Jamie had made a mistake, uncovering the truth would not be impossible. However…
Jarrod looked toward the door, curious about Nicole's decision.
In the kitchen, Nicole watched as the housekeeper prepared the hangover soup. As she was about to finish it, she suggested to the housekeeper that she take a break, assuring her that she could take care of the rest.
The housekeeper, assuming Nicole would serve Jarrod the soup, left without a second thought.
Nicole stared at the bowl, her mind elsewhere. It wasn't until she picked it up and shivered from the heat that she realized she had burned herself.
“Ouch!” he muttered, quickly pulling his hand away to nurse the burn.
At that moment, footsteps approached from behind.
“Are you okay?” Jarrod asked, examining her hand closely. The tips of her fingers had turned a light pink from the burn.
“I’m fine,” Nicole replied, her voice tinged with a nervousness that made her sound less confident than usual.
Silently, Jarrod took her hand and guided her to the sink to run cold water over the burn. Then he took a tube of ointment from under the table. As he gently applied the ointment, he lightly scolded her. “What had you so distracted that you didn't notice the bowl was hot?”
The cold ointment was soothing when applied. Nicole thought for a few moments, staring at her fingertips. Jarrod remained silent as he finished, gently shaking his hand to dry the ointment, making sure it didn't stick.
Watching Jarrod, memories of her parents flooded through Nicole's mind. Her parents had shared a deep love. Despite their age, her mother playfully grumbled to her father about every little hurt.
