Chapter 1498:

? ? ? ? ?

“Roscoe, Roscoe…” the woman murmured as she knelt beside Roscoe, quietly calling his name.

As Roscoe's agitation increased, the woman leaned closer to him and whispered something in his ear, in an intimate tone.

Nicole tried to listen, but the language was strange, unfamiliar to her ears. She surreptitiously activated the recorder on her phone and picked up the woman's mysterious whispers.

At that moment the doctors arrived and Roscoe's fury seemed to evaporate. The woman stood up and calmly asked: "Doctor, could you prescribe some tranquilizers for this gentleman? Thank you."

The doctor seemed reluctant, as if he wanted to intervene, but the woman, noticing Nicole's watchful eyes, pushed him aside and whispered, "Let's discuss this inside."

The woman escorted the doctor and Roscoe into an office and closed the door behind them.

Nicole thought about eavesdropping, but quickly realized that the door was too closed for her to hear anything. She dismissed the idea and opted to contact a friend she had asked for help earlier. “Hey, any updates on that matter I mentioned last time?”

Her friend promptly replied, “I was just about to bring you up to date. “That woman belongs to a tribe known for practicing witchcraft.”

Witchcraft? Nicole was surprised, as she had never encountered such beliefs before.

This tribe of witches is very ancient. Its members are experts in voodoo and other arcane practices, famous for their ruthless tactics and their willingness to do anything for money.

Nicole's mind raced with disturbing thoughts. Why was a witch involved with Roscoe? What trouble had the Watts family gotten him into, or was it someone else?

Lately, Nicole's attention had been monopolized by Austin and Kamilah's problems, causing her to lose sight of Roscoe's circumstances. Encounters with him had become rare, largely due to the Watts family's strict security measures. It was clear that something was wrong.

Nicole forwarded a recent audio recording to her friend, asking, “Can you translate this for me?”

"The background noise is overwhelming and I don't know the language of the witch tribe. I will improve the audio quality and find someone who can interpret it," her friend assured her.

“Okay, thanks,” Nicole replies.

"There's no need for formalities, Nicole."

This friend, whom Nicole had met abroad, had once received financial help from Nicole during a difficult period, which enabled her to cover her mother's medical expenses. He was deeply grateful and eager to reciprocate her generosity.
