Chapter 1494:

? ? ? ? ?

Jarrod thought for a moment before ordering, “Look into this. Find out if anything strange has happened with the Watts family. Also find out if Roscoe has been going to any hospitals. Get his medical records, if possible.”

Alec agreed. “Understood. “I’ll get started right away.”

After Alec left, Jarrod rubbed his temples, holding the phone and about to make a call. Just then, Doreen's mother, Hallie, called.

Doreen's mother, Hallie, called. She picked up the call. "Hi, how are you?"

Before Jarrod could finish, Hallie's panicked voice cut him off. “Jarrod, you have to help Doreen!”

Hallie screamed as she explained, “I don't know what happened, but Doreen has been arrested for assault. The lawyer said that only you can help her. The name of the woman who filed the complaint is Nicole something… She’s related to you.”

Hallie continued talking, not letting Jarrod get a word in, “Jarrod, what's going on?” Doreen is my only daughter. Can't you handle the women in your life? How could she get my daughter arrested?”

Annoyed by her outburst, Jarrod pricked the bridge of his nose. “Her name is Nicole. “She’s my wife.” He wanted to make it clear that Nicole was not just any woman, but his legally married spouse.

Hallie was stunned. “What? You're married? How did I not know? “And what about Vicki?”

Hallie had just returned from a trip and knew nothing about Jarrod's breakup with Vicki. She had always believed that Vicki was destined to be Jarrod's wife. After all, apart from Vicki, there had been no other woman in Jarrod's life in all these years.

Furthermore, Vicki had charmed both Doreen and Hallie,

causing them to grow fond of her. Naturally, they were biased in her favor and saw her as a good match for Jarrod.

“I have nothing to do with Miss Hampton anymore,” Jarrod replied coldly. “I have kept my marriage a secret. “We only got the marriage certificate and kept a low profile about it.”

Both Jarrod and Nicole were past the age of extravagant celebrations, and while Jarrod would have wanted a big wedding, Nicole wouldn't have subscribed to it.

Her past scandals had tarnished her reputation, and a lavish wedding would only dredge up old grudges and gossip, causing her a lot of stress. Jarrod wouldn't put her through that.

Hallie was speechless. “Jarrod, how can you take this lightly? Marriage is a serious matter. Even if it’s not Vicki, you should choose your partner carefully…”

"And that's what I did," Jarrod said firmly. "I didn't marry her on impulse."
