Chapter 1449:

Nicole offered these words to cheer him up. Nicole had been spending little time with Austin lately and she was worried that she might say something he wouldn't understand or that would confuse him. Luckily, Austin was perceptive.
“Mommy, I understand. I haven't done anything wrong. “I will continue to stand up to those who do wrong and make sure they don’t get away with it.”
Pleased with her son's maturity, Nicole replied, "That's right, Austin. But next time, let's put our safety first. We'll let the adults deal with the bad people, okay?"
“I understand,” Austin replied with a nod.
Then, changing the subject, Austin asked, “Mom, when can we visit your mother together?”
Startled, Nicole asked, “Have you seen her?”
Austin hesitated, fearing her reaction, then clarified, “Yes. Dad... That man took me to see her. “He told me she was my grandmother, your mom.”
A mix of emotions flooded through Nicole. Jarrod had introduced Austin to his mother without her knowledge. She realized that Jarrod had managed to take Austin to visit his mother without running into her, probably on purpose. Jarrod was really clever.
Austin said: “Grandma can't talk, but she smiles at me. “I tell her a lot of things and she just keeps smiling.”
Nicole gently stroked Austin's head and replied, "Yes, Austin, you have a wonderful way of cheering up your grandmother. Next time we'll go visit her together."
Austin then asked, “Mommy, when can I see Roscoe?” “I miss him.”
Roscoe had been a prominent presence in Austin's childhood, always treating him with kindness. Despite his young age, Austin remembered those who had shown him kindness, which led him to ask about Roscoe after a long absence.
Nicole hesitated, unsure of how to explain Roscoe's current state. If Austin found out that Roscoe's memory loss had caused him to not recognize him, it would break his heart. “Roscoe is very busy right now. We’ll arrange a visit when the time comes, okay?” Nicole explained.
Austin, always obliging, didn't insist further. After a while of talking, Nicole tucked Austin into bed and left her room.
She didn't know the layout of Jarrod's house, except for the guest rooms. She chose one at random and decided to relax with a bath, having previously asked a servant to bring her a change of clothes.
As he settled into the tub, he yelled without looking up, “Put her down. Thanks.”
She enjoyed the relief of the warm water. Exhausted from the events of the past few days, Nicole enjoyed the comfort of the bath, so much so that she had no desire to move.
As Nicole finished her shower and was about to gather her clothes, she realized that the door hadn't been closed. She turned around and froze. Jarrod was there, standing beside the bed, his clothes hanging out beside him.
