Hearing the news, Mitchel felt as if a sledgehammer had hit his chest, each blow heavier than the last.

Unrelenting pain radiated from his insides, making every fiber of his being throb with pain.

Seeing his distress, the doctor reassured him: "Don't lose hope.

Once the doctor had left, an assistant handed him his repaired phone.

The call was disconnected. An unread voice message appeared on the screen.

Playing it, Mitchel heard Raegan's weak, raspy voice.

Raegan spelled out her desperation, each word cutting through her like a blade. It almost tore him to pieces.

For years, he had thought that nothing could move him to tears.

However, now her eyes were red and tears were streaming down her face and cheeks.

Hearing Raegan say that she would rather not see him in another life and that she would forget him completely was the last straw. A searing pain erupted in his chest, his vision darkened, and a stream of blood gushed from his mouth.

Nicole, witness to Mitchel's disaster, felt no compassion.

He lunged at him, grabbing him by the neck and shaking him violently.

At her words, Mitchel grabbed her wrist and demanded: "What did you just say?"

"Mitchel!" Just then, Jarrod and Luis entered the room, catching Nicole's heated tirade against Mitchel.

Jarrod and Luis knew how ruthless Mitchel could be. Mitchel had limited himself in recent years for the sake of the company's reputation.

Jarrod clenched his jaw and looked at Nicole, sensing her desperation.

Nicole, oblivious to Mitchel's cruel side, seemed determined not only to confront him, but also to outrage Mitchel.

Quickly approaching Nicole, Jarrod grabbed her arm and warned her, "Get a grip."

To his surprise, Nicole broke free and shouted, “Hands off! You are no different from him. "You are both terrible."

In his eyes, Jarrod was even worse than Mitchel. He feigned kindness, but in reality he was more monstrous than any beast.

Jarrod, fuming, released his tongue from the inside of his cheek and stepped away, looking at Nicole as if he were digging his own grave.

Mitchel blurted out, "What did you just say?"

For Nicole, the fear had left her. His only goal was to do justice to Raegan, so he replied, chin raised defiantly, “I said you're a monster!

You don't deserve Raegan's love.

Gripping her arm tightly, Mitchel asked, "Are you saying Raegan loves me?"

With a mocking smile, Nicole replied, "Don't you realize?"

Nicole felt sorry for Raegan, thinking that Mitchel was totally unworthy of Raegan's love.

Mitchel must be heartless, or else why didn't he know that Raegan loved him deeply? Raegan's love for him was so palpable it was almost tangible.

Why do you think Raegan gave up her career to serve you? Had he ever taken advantage of your wealth or status in the last two years?

He could have prospered on his own. Instead, she gave up her career ambition to be your little helper in your company,” she said.

Mitchel was shocked. He had always assumed that Raegan had married him because of his grandfather.

But now, even her best friend Nicole claimed otherwise. Could it be that Raegan loved him?

Enraged, Nicole punched Jarrod's arm while leaning on his shoulder.

«Put me down, Jarrod! Who do you call 'your wife'? I have to protect Raegan from this asshole.

Jarrod felt like his head was going to explode.

He realized that Nicole's ultimate loyalty was to her closest friend and her family. If he crossed that line, he would unleash fury.

Losing patience, Jarrod warned, "Act one more time and forget about seeing your best friend again."

Nicole finally shut up. Jarrod felt his shoulder wet with her tears.

Leaving her by the elevator, Jarrod pinned her against the wall and snapped, "Are you crazy?"

"You're crazy!" Nicole replied, adamant.

She was rarely vulnerable in front of him. Even when she was mistreated, she refused to cry.

But, it should be noted, tears were her secret weapon. At least for now, Jarrod felt disarmed.

Visibly frustrated, Jarrod said, "I never stop you from seeing Raegan."

Given Mitchel's volatile temperament, you're lucky to escape unscathed.

«He's a bastard, Jarrod! Why can't I tell the truth? You're not good either. You're just as bad as him!

"You!" Jarrod clenched his jaw, enraged.

Just as he was about to tell Nicole what he thought, a figure caught his attention, shadowing his expression for a fleeting moment.

Quickly, he placed Nicole behind him, near the emergency exit.
