Love Began with the First Meeting
Chapter 744 Could She Win (Part One)

'What I have to become is a strong woman. Both physically and mentally, I need to be formidable enough to shut out anything that dare to disturb my inner peace. Only in this way will I have more space in my heart to think about you,

Molly thought to herself firmly, waiting for her master to speak. The man turned around slowly, sunlight cascading over his back. With only half of his face being exposed, while the rest was concealed in a shadow, his appearance exuded a daunting and somber vibe.

Unable to help herself, Molly arched her eyebrow. After many significant years, she had become more mature and prudent than she had ever been, and yet, the look in her eyes remained as innocent and pure as it always was. Despite everything that had happened, she persisted wearing her heart on her sleeves: a look of yearning, of utter belief in true love. "I must stand up from where I fell," she replied.

A sincere hint of joy was visible in her tone as she thought of going back to Brian. The one and half a year of high-intensity training intensified her longing, and motivated her to look forward to every single day that brought her closer to her goal. Ever since she arrived at the old castle, she had nothing but low expectations, and prepared for the worst case scenario to happen. But now that the rigorous training was over, the following days appeared to be hopeful and pleasantly surprising.

"That hotel?" the man asked. Confused by his question, Molly didn't know how to respond.

Her mouth hung slightly open, trying to ascertain her master's inquiry. However, his facial expression was hard to capture in the sunlight.

"At Brian's hotel again?" the man continued, when he didn't hear from her.

To which, Molly's eyes widened in surprise.

"Should we make it look like another accident?"

Molly frowned at his words. "Master, what on earth are you talking about?" she voiced her bewilderment.

As if her confusion satisfied her, the man cracked into a smile. He approached her and stood close enough for the woman to see his face more clearly. Up close, Molly could spot hesitance in his expression. "I remember you telling me that you met Brian somewhere outside of Grand Night Casino. Am I correct?"

The pensive woman nodded, saying slowly, "I had never really thought about our first meeting before I came here. When I got here, it was our past that kept me going. Day after day, I recalled every detail between us." She paused for a bit, her eyes squinting at the thought. "Then the training didn't seem so hard anymore, and the days passed by faster. That's when I realized that it wasn't in the hotel that I first met him." She turned to look at the man. "Before that time, I was running late for work one day. So I was rushing to Grand Night Casino, when I almost got hit by a car. I didn't get to see the person in the car at the time, and I never really thought about it afterward. Later on, I found out that it was Brian's car."

"So what?" the man asked.

A cunning look flickered across Molly's eyes. She closed the distance between them, held his arm in a fawning way, and said in a soft, sweet voice, "Master..."

For a moment, the man could only look at her, before he untangled their arms and spoke in a disapproving tone, "Spit it out. Don't you dare use what you learned from Gold Flower No. 4 on me. Acting spoiled is pointless."

"You are so boring," Molly muttered, rolling her eyes and pursing her lips. Then, not even a minute later, she clutched onto his arm once again and said, "Master, I will avenge you. How about that? Huh?"

"What do you mean?" he asked suspiciously as he tried to pull his arm out of her tight embrace again.

Conceding, Molly let go of the man's arm and explained, "Master, just think about it. You used to be undefeated among card sharps. Everyone respected you, and they all knew you were the brilliant disciple of the God of Gamblers." Molly gave a thumbs up exaggeratedly, and continued, "Who knew Hanson? Who cared about him? That guy had no game in front of you." Molly smiled, her eyes glistening with intent. "That time on QY Island, though. Brian set you up to lose. That was outrageous, and we can't let him get away with it." Her words piqued Chester's interest. After giving it some thought, he finally nodded in affirmation.

A smile slowly crept on Molly's face, which she suppressed immediately. She could tell that her nifty trick had worked. "So..."

"So you think that I should teach you how to cheat in poker games," sneered Chester, picking up on her intention. "That way, you can go to Brian's casinos, and show him what you're capable of. Is that it?"

Molly giggled awkwardly. "Oh Master, you are so wise. That is exactly what I meant," she flattered the man.

Chester stared at her severely with mockery in his eyes. "Molly, do you think of me as a fool?" The smile on her face disappeared. She puckered her lips in embarrassment, while Chester continued with a snort, "Did you really think that just because you're capable of self- preservation, you can now go back to Brian?"

Molly lowered her head, her heart sinking upon hearing his words. "Master, I am well aware that I'm still too weak. Therefore I'm somewhat afraid to go back for him. But when I do go back, I'm determined to get him back at all costs."

Her resolved nature triggered a weird smile across Chester's face as he heard her words. "I can teach you how to cheat in poker games. But first of all," he said, his voice turning cold and serious at the same time, "you need to understand what is needed to become a card sharp.

Prudence of heart, composure in demeanor, and calmness in the eyes." "Master," said Molly earnestly. "You know that it is not the art of cheating that I wish to learn, but the powerful undefeated mind of a great card sharp."

"Of course, I know that," conceded Chester. Turning around, he stared through the French window at the sunlight dancing on the ground. His eyes were filled with a restrained mix of emotions. "Personally, I've looked forward to this day since the moment that I've decided to teach you how to gamble. I really hate Brian. That sly calculating man." He grunted in contempt. "However," he said, pausing. Despite Molly's eagerness, she waited in silence and did not dare to rush him. After a while, he continued, "That time on the island, I lost. Ever since then, I've decided not to cheat in card games anymore. Nevertheless, I've pored over these skills in gambling for so many years. If I retire, it would all have been for nothing. And that would be a shame. So I want to pass it on. I need someone to inherit what I have learned. The person need not be an expert already in gambling, but he has to be serious and determined. I need someone who won't quit halfway."

Then, turning to look at Molly, he said, "In all honesty, you're a little dumb. It usually takes three months to learn all the cheating, but I have the impression that it will take you half a year." Shaking his head, he added with a dejected sigh, "What exactly does Brian see in you?"

To which, Molly's ears turned crimson. "Master, you shouldn't be humiliating your disciple like this."

Amused, Chester glanced at her and said, "You can take a break today. Your closed training starts tomorrow."

Suppressing the urge to jump in joy, Molly gave a controlled smile. "Yes, master." With that, she took her leave without another word.

As she walked away, Chester's eyes followed her retreating figure, the glint in his eyes growing more intense. For the past year and a half, apart from the regular high-intensity training, Molly spent several hours practicing how to gamble while others slept like a log. Chester was amazed by her endurance, and untapped potential. Although she might not be smart enough, she was resolute, hard-working, and stubborn. The woman did not know how to give up even if she tried.

After getting what she wanted from Chester, Molly went to find her son with uplifted spirits. When she found Mark playing with an iPad, she squatted beside him and asked, "I see you're playing a new game again. What's wrong with the last one?"

"It was too easy. Found it boring." Mark answered, without raising his head from the screen. As his fingers moved swiftly on the screen, it didn't take him long before he won the round. "I win again. It's not challenging at all. They're all boring. I don't feel like a winner," Mark complained, putting down the gadget.
