Innocent Little Runt -
Chapter 65
Celeste’s POV
I giggled as Xavier placed little k****s up and down my neck.
It has been a week since Wesley was born. Everyone seems to adore him. He doesn’t even cry much. Or maybe I just sleep through it. . . I wouldn’t really know. Mine and Xavier’s room is soundproof. Almost all of the rooms are.
Xavier’s parents left two days after the big event. I thought it was a bit odd, them visiting for such a short amount of time. Xavier told me his father had business to attend to. I shrugged it off after that. I was actually kind of glad. His mother made me feel like I should dress nicer, proper even. She makes me feel like I should participate in training everyday, to become a stronger Luna. She makes me feel like I should stop being a runt. However, I like wearing Xavier’s shirts, I don’t want to do training, I can’t stop being a runt. I mean, I do want to become a stronger Luna but I want to do it while remaining who I am. Overall, I didn’t really like her around.
“Xavier,” I said between giggles. “Stop it.” He chuckled and wrapped his arm around my waist. He started to draw circles on my bare skin with his thumb making me stop giggling and move closer to him, wanting to feel the sparks between us.
“Why should I,” he mumbled into my neck. “I’m quite enjoying myself and I think you are too.” I felt a blush rising up my skin.
“S-shut up! I have to go.” I pushed myself away from him but he wouldn’t let go.
“Don’t go,” he g*****d. I flipped myself around and looked into his enticing green eyes. “Let’s just lay here today. I’ll have someone bring up food. We can watch movies, listen to some music, other things. . .” I gasp in shock at his words.
“No,” I state simply. “I promised Lycer I would meet him at eleven. I need to get dressed.”
“I still think you should stay here and I prefer you like this.” My blush intensified as I pulled the blanket around me.
“That is all the more reason as to why I should get dressed.” I pushed his arms off of me and scurried to get dressed. I could hear Xavier complaining the entire time. At one point he even said he was going to kill Lycer for taking me away from him. I just rolled my eyes.
Whatever they talked about last week really helped. It was rare for them to glare at each other. Sometimes they still would and when they did it was usually over something about me. I don’t exactly know what they talked about that made them stop arguing. When I asked Xavier he said that they “found a common interest.” I wanted to punch him for being so vague.
I brushed my hair out of my eyes and gave Xavier a look that was telling him to shut up. “I’ll see you later.”
I was about to leave when I felt hand wrap around my waist and pull me back to a very firm chest. Sparks exploded despite clothes covering every part of me that Xavier’s bare skin touched. “Where do you think you’re going?” His voice was deep but soothing. Sometimes, I loved to just listen to him talk before I went to sleep.
“I promised Lycer I would meet him. Didn’t I already tell you this? Now let go of me you-“
“Incredible and handsome mate? If that is not what you were going to say you should definitely change it to that.” I rolled my eyes. I turned around to k**s his lips, pushing him away soon after.
“I’m going now.” I walked out of the door before he could argue. I heard him growl in frustration. I giggled.
I skipped to the training area where Lycer told me to meet him, stopping by the kitchen to grab a blueberry muffin. Lycer smiled when he caught my eye and I gave him a little wave. My mouth was too full of muffin to smile.
“You know,” he said when I reached him, “just because the food is available doesn’t mean you have to eat it.” I scowled at him and finished my last bite, chucking the wrapping thing at his head.
“Shut up. I do what I want.” He glares at me and I give him a smile, not wanting him to be mad at me.
“Follow me.” I open my mouth to ask him why but by then he is already walking across the yard to the small little shed that holds a few of the simpler training weapons. I almost stop walking. I’ve seen Jake almost kill a guy with some of the weapons in there. I don’t know why anyone ever tries to get on his bad side.
“Are you coming?” I blinked and nodded. He opened the door and I waited just outside, nervously fiddling with my sleeve. When he reappeared a moment later he had a bow in his hand.
Did he expect me to use that?
“Yes, ‘he’ does.” I stiffened and felt a blush rise up my neck.
“I said that out loud didn’t I?” He nodded and handed me the bow. I looked at it reluctantly. “I don’t think Xavier would be okay with this. I might end up shooting my foot with an arrow.”
“Relax. I talked to Xavier about this a few days ago.” My eyes widened. He never told me about this. “He agreed that you need to be able to protect yourself, just in case something happens. You will of course have guards with you when either of us are not with you.” I felt a feeling almost like anger go through me. I took a breath and nodded. I knew this would eventually happen, it was just a matter of time. I didn’t, however, think Xavier would want me to train. He doesn’t usually say it out loud but I know he feels like he should be able to protect me.
“Fine,” I agreed. “But if I end up shooting myself in the foot, you and Xavier have to do it on purpose.” He looked at me as if I was crazy and shoved the bow at me.
“Just shut up and let me teach you how to use this correctly.”
