Xavier’s POV

Alpha, someone mind linked me. There are a few rogues approaching.

I feel a surge of anger go through me. Those damned rogues kidnap my mate and then they dare come back here? How dare they! I could feel my eyes start to turn black, anger consuming me.

“Xavier? Xavier, what’s wrong?” I could hear Josh repeating that over and over again but I couldn’t actually comprehend what he was saying.

I came out of my thoughts when Zay started to snap her fingers in front of me. I blinked and pushed my wolf down. I still felt full of anger but I was trying to ignore it.

“Xavier? What’s going on?” I looked around me. Jake and Josh were still here and they were all staring at me in confusion.

“f*****g rogues.”

Surround the rogues, I mind linked the people on patrol and a few others. I want them alive.

“You want the rogues alive? After all they have done, I’m surprised your wolf doesn’t want them dead.” I roll my eyes at Zay.

“He does but they might be able to help me find Celeste.” Zay smiled and I could see Josh trying to smile as well. Jake, of course, had his usual mask on that wouldn’t let people see his emotion.

I turned and walked out of the room, Zay following behind me. I could tell that she was trying to make sure I wouldn’t lose control again so I wasn’t surprised when she called for Jake and Josh to follow us. When we left the pack house a few of the pack members smiled, glad to see their Alpha getting back to usual. By usual, I mean the me that I was before Celeste came here. She changed me but it was for the better.

Alpha, one of the warriors mind linked me.

Do you have the rogues surrounded?

Yes, but Alpha. . .

What?

It’s the Luna.

I stopped walking. Celeste.

“Xavier? What happened?” I looked at Zay who was beside me, worry filling her eyes. “Maybe you should go lay back down. We will handle this for you.”

“I can’t let you do that.” I need Celeste but I’m frozen. What if she’s hurt? What if she’s. . . No. Se can’t be.

“Why?” I finally gained control of my body, running off to where all the warriors and patrol were. I didn’t care about anything other than the fact that I was going to see her again.

I came into the clearing, quickly looking around at everyone with small smiles on their faces. A few were still ready to pounce on the other rogue. The other rogue. I looked at him and growled until my eyes looked to who was in his arms. I freeze.

Celeste. I smiled as she pushed herself out of the man’s arms and ran up to me. She threw her arms around me. I unfroze as her scent of vanilla and berries invaded my nose. I wrapped my arms around her, gently because I was afraid I was going to break her.

“Xavier,” she whispered.

“Celeste. I’ve missed you so much little one.” I tightened my arms around her and she winced. I pulled her back from me but she just pulled me back to her. I looked around as all of the wolves started to growl. They were growling at the rogue.

“Who is he Celeste?” I couldn’t keep the jealousy and anger out of my voice. He was shirtless and just a few minutes ago, he was holding my Celeste.

“Don’t hurt him.” I buried my head in her hair, inhaling her scent to try and calm my wolf down.

“I can’t promise that until you tell me who he is.” She pulled back a little and looked me in the eyes. I moved one of my hands to her cheek. She was crying. I wiped away her tears and noticed a small scar on her temple. I started to shake in anger.

“Xavier?” I looked back to her eyes and gave her a tight smile.

“Just answer my question, please.” She nodded and leaned back into my chest, letting out that little content sigh that I love as sparks went throughout our skin.

“Xavier, he’s Lycer. Please call off the warriors.” I froze as I took in what she said. So this was Lycer. I pushed my wolf down as he kept repeating that he was the guy who marked her, even if it was a protector’s mark. “Please Xavier.” I nodded and mind linked them all to get back to patrol.

Celeste looked behind me and smiled. I turned around to see Zay, Jake, and Josh. Zay ran up to us and held onto Celeste’s hand.

“Oh Goddess Celeste, we were all so worried.” Celeste smiled.

“I’m fine now.” I heard a scoff and looked up to see the rogue. Lycer.

“No you aren’t Celestial. You know that.” My eyebrows scrunched up in confusion as I looked at Celeste questionably.

“Let’s get you back to the pack house. Zay,” I turned to look at her. “I want you to do a full examination on Celeste.” She nodded, Celeste rolled her eyes. I turned to walk back and stopped. Looking to Lycer, I motioned for him to walk. “You coming or not?” He nodded and I continued walking. The entire time Zay didn’t let go of Celeste’s hand.

When we got there I told Jake to find Lycer a room where he could easily be kept under surveillance until I was sure he was safe. I took Celeste to Zay’s office where she sat on the bed. I took her hand and tilted her head up.

“I’ll give you two a minute,” Zay said and left the room.

“Xavier,” Celeste said softly. I looked at her. I couldn’t resist it anymore. I smashed my lips to hers. She moved her lips in sync with mine, twining her arms around my neck. I put my hands on her h**s and pulled her closer to me. I licked her lips, begging for the entrance that she gave me moments later. She was as sweet as her personality. She pulled back, a blush covering her neck and face. “I-I have to tell you something.”

“What is it?” I would listen to her talk for hours if it meant I would never go this long without hearing her voice again.

“I love you,” the words slipped past her lips and a huge smile made its way to mine.

“I love you too little one. So much.” I placed a simple and sweet k**s on her lips. “I’ll never let anything or anyone separate us ever again. I promise that to you.” She nodded and I pulled her to my chest, tightly wrapping my arms around her. She winced and I pulled back. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” she said while looking away from me. I pushed the coat off of her shoulders but she pushed me away.

“Zay!” I shouted and she walked back inside. “Check her over, make sure she is alright.” Zay nodded. “I’ll go make you some food.” Celeste’s eyes lit up at the mention of food.

“Can you make me bacon? Please!” I chuckled and nodded.

When I walked into the kitchen I saw Jared with Delian in his arms. I looked at him in confusion. He’s not usually here these days unless I ask him to be.

“I heard the news, Celeste is back.” I nodded, a smile fighting its way onto my lips. “Where is she? I would expect you to not leave her side.”

“I’m having Zay examine her. I just want to make sure she’s alright.” He nodded in understanding. “Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be with your mate?” A smile made its way to his lips.

“She’s going to make it Xavier,” he said with glee. “The doctors said that the treatment was starting to work and she’ll be out in a few weeks.” I smiled.

“Alpha?” I looked down to Delian. She looked up at me with her huge, innocent blue eyes. “Is the Luna okay?” I nodded.

“She’s fine Delian. You can see her tomorrow if you want.” She smiled widely. “Now if you’ll excuse me, Celeste wants bacon.” Jared chuckled.

“She’s got you wrapped around her finger, you know that?” I rolled my eyes and took out the bacon. When I was done I put it on a plate and went back to Zay’s office.

Zay was waiting outside of the door when I got there. She was pacing, a nervous look on her face.

“Zay? What did you find? What’s wrong with her?” Worry settled over me and my wolf whined.

“She uh.” Zay stopped to take a deep breath. “You’re not going to like this but maybe it’s better if I just show you.” I nodded and we walked into the office. Celeste was asleep on the bed, laying on her stomach. There was a light blue blanket pulled up to her shoulders.

I sat the plate of bacon down on Zay’s desk and sat down by Celeste. I pulled her hand into mine and kissed her knuckles.

“I gave her something so she could sleep while I looked over her injuries. They were hurting her too much for her for me to look.” Injuries. That means there is more than the cut on her temple. I tightened my grip on Celeste’s hand.

“What’s wrong with her Zay? Just tell me now because my wolf is already going crazy.” She nodded and moved the blanket off of Celeste’s back. My eyes widened as I saw red gash like cuts going in all different directions on her back. On those cuts were different little circle shaped cuts. I put my hand on one of them and, even though she was asleep, Celeste flinched.

“Can you tell what they are?”

“Whip marks, I think. I don’t know what they smaller ones are but whatever they are. they were covered in wolfsbane. They’re small enough to where they should have healed by now but they haven’t.” I nodded, closing my eyes. “She’s fine now Xavier, calm down.”

“What about the cut on her temple? Is her head okay.”

“Yeah. There is another cut on the back of her head but they both seemed to be healed.” I nodded.

“Is there anything you could give her? I don’t want her to be in pain.” Zay gave me a tight smile and nodded. She went to her desk and I looked back to Celeste.

I am going to find Malum and I am going to kill him for what he did.

I looked up when I felt Celeste flinch. Zay had put a needle in her back and was slowly taking it out. She did that again in two other areas and looked to me. “That will numb her back enough to where she won’t feel the pain from these. If she gets dizzy at any time, make her lie down.” I nodded. Zay handed me one of Celeste’s shirts and I smiled. I put it over Celeste’s head and dressed her without truly looking.

“Thank you Zay.” She nodded and I looked down to Celeste. She started to stir and her eyes open, looking at mine immediately. I gave her a smile. “I got you some food.” Her smile widened. “Let’s go.” She pushed herself up but almost tripped. I chuckled at her and picked her up while Zay handed her the plate of bacon. Celeste’s eyes brightened up as she dug in.

By the time that I made it to our room, the plate of bacon was long gone.

“Did you see them?” Celeste asked as I set her on the bed, taking the empty plate from her. I set it on one of the nightstands.

“Yeah.” I laid down next to her and pulled her to me, inhaling her scent.

“They’re ugly and painful.” She looked down but I tilted her chin up to look at me.

“It’s okay little one. I love you and always will love you, scars included.” A small smile graced her lips. “Besides, you are beautiful no matter what. Why don’t you go take a bath and relax,” I suggested. She nodded and left to the restroom.

I closed my eyes and let happy thoughts consume me. She was back. She is safe now. From now on she won’t be left without someone to guard her. She won’t be leaving my side unless she has to, at least for the next few days. Or weeks. Or months.

I opened my eyes when I felt the bed dip a little. I looked to Celeste who was playing with her long sleeves. I pushed myself up and kissed her. She smiled against my lips as I put my hands on her h**s. I rubbed my thumb on the little bit of exposed skin on her h*p. I trailed k****s down her neck and stopped when she let out a breathy m**n.

“Don’t stop. Please Xavier.” I looked at her face. Her perfect little lips. Her adorable nose. Lastly, her beautiful and captivating eyes.

“Are you sure?”

She bit her l*p and looked down. Right when I was about to pull away she replied, “Yes.” I looked at her and smashed her lips to mine.
