Innocent Little Runt -
Chapter 22
Celeste’s POV
I looked up towards the trees, knowing somewhere up there a boy with dirty blonde hair was hiding.
It was a nice day out. The sun was up but the weather wasn’t too hot or too cold. It was perfect weather. The green of the leaves blocked a lot of the sunlight but also gave a nice light green glow to the forest. There were pine cones on the ground that gave a nice crunch whenever I stepped on them.
“Lycer!” I called out. “Where are you?” I looked towards my left where I could hear the rustling of leaves. After a moment a boy with dirty blond hair and no shirt pops down next to me. Of course he wasn’t wearing a shirt. He despised them and if he ever did wear one it would be a button up with the top 3 or 4 buttons undone if you’re lucky. If you are not as lucky, he would wear it completely open.
“Ah my dear Celestial, to what do I owe this honor?” I giggled as he spoke in a fake British accent.
“The other kids went hunting so I figured that it was a good time to come and see you.” He chuckled and put his arm across my shoulder.
“In other words- you came here because you were bored.” I nodded my head, smiling a bright smile.
“Can we go hunting? You promised you would teach me and you still haven’t. Please Lycer!” I look up at him and give him my best puppy dog eyes that he always falls for. He sighs, knowing that he will never be able to say no to me.
“Alright but we are starting out small and simple. Go and shift.” I nodded and walked behind a tree. I took off my clothes, tied them around my wrist and shifted. I used one of my small paws to hold down one side of the tied clothes, used my mouth on the other side and tightened it around my front leg.
I pranced around the tree and walked over to Lycer’s tall, dirty blonde wolf.
Come along Celestial, his voice went through my head. And make sure you are quiet. We wouldn’t want any of the animals to run away before we even found them.
You’re the one who has big paws- crunching everything you step on. You are the one who should be quiet! He chuckled through our mind link.
We started to run at a slightly slower pace than usual. The pace was slow enough to where we would be able to see any animals that we pass.
Stop! I stop and look up at Lycer, waiting for his next instructions. Look to your right. I looked to my right and saw a small brown and black rabbit.
What do I do now? I ask, not feeling confident about this.
Stay quiet, lower yourself more towards the ground, and try to get closer. When you get close enough to pounce on it. When you start to get more confident with hunting you can just go after it immediately but let’s take it slow today. Now try to get as low to the ground as possible.
I lowered myself as low to the ground as I could get while still being able to move.
Good, Lycer’s voice held pride. He was proud of me. Now try to get closer. I nodded my head and started to move closer. When you get close enough just go for it.
I started to slowly move closer to the rabbit, being careful of everything on the ground around me. I didn’t want to make a noise and scare it off. As soon as I got within four feet of the rabbit I pounced on top of it. Before it could run, I bit into its neck, feeling proud as it fell limp beneath me.
I did it! Lycer I did it! I looked back to see Lycer’s form tense. Lycer? I dropped the rabbit as a wave of fear went through me.
Celestial, come here. I did as Lycer told me and he hid me below him. He looked towards the trees and growled making my fear intensify.
Lycer, what’s going on? I’m scared.
I know you are but don’t you worry your little head. I’m your protector and I will protect you. He growled again and two wolves emerged from two different large trees. How long have they been there?
Both of the wolves shifted to reveal two large and terrifying men. Both had scars all over their chests and one had a scar on his temple. The one with the temple scar was bald and I could see the scars on the top of his head too. The other one had brown hair and grey eyes. Both of them were buck n***d. I looked away, not wanting to see them anywhere you wouldn’t casually see a person.
“Shift,” scar head growled. Lycer growled back.
Don’t do anything he says Celestial. Only listen to me and if I tell you to run- you do it. Do you understand? I nodded, feeling too scared to even mind link him right now.
Lycer walked forward so he was standing in front of me and shifted. I closed my eyes as he put his pants that were tied around his wrist. He put a hand behind his back and I walked towards him. He picked me up and held me close to him. I hated when I felt shorter than usual to him so him being in human form and me being in my small werewolf form wasn’t all that great. However, I was too terrified to truly care.
“Her too,” scar head sneered looking at me.
“She will be left out of this,” Lycer growled at the man, obviously irritated with him. “Now what do you want?”
“Malum wishes to speak to you,” the other one spoke. I stiffened. I had only heard that name once before and it was when Lycer had told me about his past.
“I’m never going to speak to that bastard, so why don’t you tell him that.” Before I knew it I was pushed out of Lycer’s hold and on the ground. I shook off the dizziness and looked back up. One of the men, grey eyes, was holding Lycer in a position where he couldn’t move his arms. The other, scar head, was punching him in the stomach multiple time. I whimpered as I heard the blow on his stomach.
Celestial! Run! I shook my head no. Listen to me, run!
Lycer no! Scar head moved on to punching Lycer in the jaw.
Run Celestial, run!
Please don’t make me leave you behind! I locked eyes with him and I saw him smile at me. Scar head stopped his assault and looked at me.
“Come here little girl,” he sneered. Gaining some courage, I growled at him. “Oh stop your growling and get over here. Maybe we could put that mouth of yours to some actual use.” Lycer’s growl echoed throughout the woods.
“Don’t you dare even think about it!” Lycer tried to break out of grey eye’s hold as both of the men chuckled a bone chilling run.
Run, damn it. Run!
No! You’ll get hurt.
It’ll be okay. Just run! The look in his eyes was telling me to listen to him. So I did the only thing he was telling me to do. I ran.
“Celeste? Little one, are you okay?” I blinked a few times, clearing my foggy vision. I looked around and saw the three Alphas in the room staring at me. I tilted my head up to look into Xavier’s worried eyes. I nodded my head and leaned back against his chest. I pulled the blanket closer to me and fell into a dream of before Lycer was taken.
