Inner Woman -
Heirloom
Glowing champagne globes reflected shimmer,
Purple spears of light sparkle,
Tiny knots keep them distinct,
Separated as surely as distance,
One ancient,
The other modern,
They live together,
Forever alone,
Then Mother
Then Daughter,
Now Aunt
Now Grandmother,
The amethyst and the pearl,
Together apart,
Live on as the strand slips through my fingers
Remembered love, hugs, comfort,
Heated hurt cooled,
Safe in their arms once more,
Nestled at my breast.
