Handing Things Over

🐺Alester🐺

I am so happy my burden is about to be lifted. Marcus sent for the Darosa twins and they jumped at the chance to visit. I just hope they are ready to say yes to my offer while understanding how big a job it is going to be.

“They are here,” Marcus says as he enters the office.

“Please, show them in.” I smile.

“Alpha Alester.” Axel greets me.

“It’s wonderful to see you,” Atlas adds.

“Thanks for coming on such short notice”.

“We are happy to be here and are eager to hear your plans,” Axel says.

They take a seat, “so you are aware that Les is set to be executed because of the assault of his new Luna”.

“We are but we are curious, where do we fit in to all of this?” Atlas asks and Axel nods along.

“Good question, Kylah, Marcus, and I want you to lead this pack”.

They both stare at me blankly for a moment before they both speak, “Are you serious?”

“Yes, I am. You see, I am taking over Blue Moon for Alpha Zane and I need someone here I can trust.” I smile, “Alpha Talon and Beta Falcon both agree that you would be perfect for this and that you deserve it. The downside of taking over is there are a lot of wolves here that did horrendous things and will need to be punished for their crimes”.

Sadly this is going to be the hard part. There aren’t many wolves out there that would want to take this on, so here I am ready to beg.

“What kind of crimes?” Axel inquires.

Oh boy. this is what I was hoping they wouldn’t ask right away.

“Sexual assault, murder, unlawful confinement, assault with intent to cause bodily harm, the list goes on and on.” I silently pray that they will take this on. If they do, we will be forever in their debt.

They appear to be linking each other, I really hope they say yes. It would be a load off my mind.

“So how would this be carried out? The council used to handle these types of things but they haven’t been around for centuries.” Atlas asks.

Atlas appears to be the Alpha’s Alpha while Axel takes more of the Luna role. It’s kind of sweet.

“I’m in the process of trying to talk the other packs into starting the council again because someone needs to hold these packs accountable”.

“If I remember my history correctly the council was just as corrupt as packs like this. I’m not sure building one again is the right move.” Atlas says.

Just then the office fills with a bright light, it would appear the Moon Goddess has decided to grace us with her presence.

“Selene!” Axel says excitedly.

“Moon Goddess!” Atlas says just as enthusiastically before they both run over to her and hug her.

It’s kind of funny to see her wrapped in their embrace, she’s so tiny.

“Moon Goddess, to what do we owe the pleasure?” I ask.

“Axel, Atlas my sweet boy’s how are you?” she asks while hugging them back.

“We’re good,” Axel says.

“Better than good,” Atlas added.

“I’m great too, thanks for asking”.

She laughs and comes over to me, “Alester dear, I am here because I have wonderful news.” she beams.

“Really?”

She basks in her happiness for a moment, “our sweet boy’s wolf is back.” she squeals.

His wolf is back! That is the most wonderfully magnificent news I have heard in a long time. I go to respond but she is far too excited to hear anything right now.

“You three will be even stronger now that Cage has come back to him”.

I am about to answer her but Marcus bursts through the door, “we have a problem”.

“What is it?”

“Les is gone,” he says in anger.

“WHAT?” I snap.

“I already investigated and it looks like some of the wolves that agree with him broke him out and ran,” he informs me.

“You don’t have time to waste, you know what he’s going to do and the time to act is now,” Selene states, she is right though and I know it.

I hold my hands out to the twins, “you ready?” I ask knowing they haven’t had a chance to properly think it through.

“I, Alester Locke, Alpha of Blood Moon pack give power over these lands to Alpha’s Atlas and Axel Darosa, do you accept?”

“We, Atlas and Axel Darosa, accept the Alpha position in Blood Moon pack.” they say, we feel the power shift.

“Alright, Marcus, I need you to stay here and help the twins. I need you to find out who is loyal to Les and lock them all up, Kylah and I have to get back to BlueMoon”.

The Moon Goddess tells us that she knows someone that can help find his loyalists explaining that this person doesn’t usually get involved but likely will this time because she holds a personal grudge against Les. Selene tells us that this witch was shunned from her coven and has been hidden away for years but would probably jump at the chance to make him pay.

“Danika?” Marcus asks.

She smiles at him and says yes before she does that annoying thing where she disappears in that bright white light; returning moments later with a girl not much taller than her and a head full of very colorful hair.

“Alester, I’d like for you to meet your half-sister, Dani. Dani, this is Alester.” She introduces us.

“Ex-excuse me?” I stutter, “my what?”

She smiles a bit awkwardly before she waves at Marcus. Dani then goes on to tell me that her mother and our father had an affair before he met my mother. Not at all surprising but shocking to find out it leads to a pregnancy. I honestly can’t help but just stare at her.

I haven’t met a hybrid before, they are so rare... I can’t believe I have a hybrid sister.

“So why aren’t you part of a pack?” I ask, curiosity getting the best of me.

“No Alpha would accept me and because of my wolf no coven felt they could trust me, I am an abomination in their eyes.” she takes a moment to breathe, “I am not even sure Les knows he role he played in my family abandoning me and leaving me to raise myself after he killed my mother, I want him to pay.” a fire has been sparked and she is going to see it burn him to the ground.

I walk up to the very angry girl and hug her tight. How could he leave a child to raise herself.

“I am so, so sorry.” I keep hugging her.

Dani pulls back to look at me, “it’s not your fault but Les will pay for what he did to me and my mother.” she declares passionately.

“He will pay for everything he has ever done”.

She squeezes me tightly one more time before she pulls back and gets to business.

“I will need an escort so I may go around the pack and read auras, those I can’t read I will have truth potion to give them”.

Marcus immediately volunteers to take her and she smiles and leaves with him mentioning that she’s excited they will have the chance to catch up. Catch up with what?

I scent the familiar comforting scent of Kylah just before she enters the office.

“Moon Goddess!” Kylah says excitedly, “It’s so wonderful to see you”.

Does she meet everyone?

Axel and Atlas both address Kylah as Luna which is unnecessary since this is their pack now. Kylah tells them to just call her Kylah and they argue teasingly about it for a few moments before they agree.

“Alright Alpha’s, good luck. Little Luna it is time for us to pack, our home is in danger”.

It is time for us to get home to our mate, I can’t wait to hold him in my arms again.

Yesterday Danika was able to find approximately one hundred and fifty wolves that are still loyal to Les. Our cells are packed pretty full. It is a really good thing that Les had Alester and I have more constructed later or we wouldn’t have had enough room for everyone.

Most of the pack members just went with the flow but some didn’t, thankfully it seems that nearly everyone supports Alester in his decisions on handing the pack to the twins and those that seemed to have a difference of opinion there really just want peace.

When I finally got to bed around two I was ready for my short three hour nap so the fact I am now sneaking around the house to see who the hell is trespassing on our territory has me fuming mad.

“Goddess Marcus, you look so sexy trying to sneak up on me.” the wonderfully familiar voice says behind me.

“Tessa?”

“I’ve missed you so much.” she says before she leaps into my arms.

I hold her tightly never wanting to let her go again. I am so happy that with the twins here I no longer have to hide that we are still mated.

“Who else is here?”

“You’ll see later, all I care about at this moment is you.” she whispers.

I give her another kiss and take her hand so I can lead her to my temporary room. All I want in the world is another twenty minutes of sleep with my baby girl in my arms.

At five-fifteen Alester and Kylah have packed up what little they had here and driven off leaving Axel, Atlas and myself here to get this pack in order. When Tessa and I get around to the back of the house the crew building the new house have started to arrive and the wolves Tessa brought from Blue Moon are outside with the Scouts getting caught up on what they need to know for day patrol.

She brought Stacy, Mason, Luke, Duffy, Lorcan, Reid and Shane. While I catch up with them Atlas and Axel come down to let me know they want to take a tour of their new lands.

I leave Tessa to lead the team and I take the Alpha’s around the perimeter closest to the pack house before we head back and grab an Off-road vehicle to tour the rest. I first stop at the secret cells and armory.

“These cells will have to be destroyed and rebuilt somewhere else. Sadly all of Les’ followers know about them and those that don’t will.” I tell them.

“We can get someone on that.” Axel says.

“Do you have a contractor that you use?” Atlas asks.

“Yes absolutely, I will get Alpha Zane to send us his contacts and we will give you the list of the pack members here that can be trusted”.

They thank me and we continue on our tour.

Once the tour is over the Alpha’s head to the office to make some calls they need to make and I go off to find my beautiful mate.

Tessa runs up to me, “Marcus, guess what?”

“Hi baby girl, I have no idea so why don’t you just tell me?” I ask.

“Luke found his mate!” she yells, claps and jumps up and down excitedly.

“Really? Why didn’t he find her before?” I am confused, he’s been here before.

“We didn’t know her before.” she says.

I am confused, “who is it?”

“You’re dumb.” she laughs.

“Well you’re mean”.

“Dani, Dani is his mate!”

“For real?”

“Yes and they are so awkward, it’s adorable. Now come with me”.

Tessa grabs my hand and drags me behind her all the way to the kitchen. She then points at Dani and Luke who are awkwardly sitting at the dining table.

“Hi guys.” I say cheerfully.

“Dani, would you like to come with me to pick out something special for Marcus?” Tessa asks her.

Dani says yes and then they leave arm in arm gossiping about me. Seeing Luke without my mate attached to him makes Lucky and I so happy, we no longer want to kill him.

“What seems to be the problem?” I ask him.

“I honestly couldn’t tell you.” he says sadly.

“Is it that she’s half witch?”

“No, that doesn’t bother me in the least, it makes her so much more special”.

“Is it that she is Alester’s half sister?”

“I didn’t know that so no.” he says.

“Well that’s all I’ve got so you’re going to have to tell me”.

“I guess it’s just how the other wolves have been talking about her. They aren’t comfortable with her being here”.

“They will change their minds. Les was not a good Alpha and he feed them all sorts of lies and misconceptions so it will probably take a little time before they are able to break free from his way of thinking”.

“They shouldn’t need to come around. None of this is her fault”.

I sigh, he’s right it isn’t her fault and she shouldn’t be chastised because of it.

“My advice would be to make sure she knows the witch thing doesn’t bother you. She was never accepted by packs because of it and her coven left her to fend for herself after her mother was killed”.

He looks worried, “did she try Blue Moon, did Alpha Zane turn her away?” he asks me.

“I don’t know but I can call and ask him.” I offer.

I rest my hand on his shoulder and give it a friendly squeeze. I owe him a lot and I feel really bad that him and Dani don’t seem to be hitting it off the way Tessa and I did.

“It will work out.” I say before leaving him.

I enter the office and they are talking to Dani. They are checking in again about Les’ supporters. They are really worried that we may have missed some.

“You’re absolutely sure?” Axel asks.

“Yes”.

“I told you.” Atlas gloats.

“Shut up Atlas.” Axel pouts.

“You two are adorable.” Dani laughs and they both turn to her and growl playfully.

“Alpha’s”

“Marcus! How is everything going?” Atlas asks.

“Everything is fine. I’ve rounded up all the warriors that support you two and Alester. And they are training with Duffy and Lorcan as we speak. Tessa informed me that it was Lorcan’s father that trained them so I have faith that these warriors will be trained as well as those in BlueMoon.” I report.

“Excellent, you two are dismissed for the night. We can handle things from here.” they both say, creepy.

In the hall I ask Dani if we can talk. She agrees to talk to me so we make our way to her room.

"Tessa, I am going to talk to Dani and then we can spend the night together.” I link my baby girl.

"Alright I will train with the warriors until you’re done.” she links back.

My beautiful mate is the most amazing wolf I’ve ever met. Once inside Dani’s room I sit down on the chair in the corner while she looks out the windows towards the woods.

“Luke cares about you”.

“I know, I’m just scared. Everyone in my life who should have loved me either abandoned me or were taken from me.” she says sadly.

“I know and I’m so fucking sorry you went through that”.

“I don’t want your pity Marcus”.

“It’s not pity. Had you been accepted into the family Alester and I would have been there for you through everything”.

She stares out the window a little longer before she looks at me.

“What if Luke changes his mind about me?”

“He won’t but if he does I’ll kick his ass.” We shared a chuckle and I continued, “He just wants his mate and he finally has you right here and he’s hurting. He’s so incredibly upset with how the other wolves have reacted to you”.

“I’ve been accepted by many of them and then you, the twins and Tessa, even Alester accepted me.” she smiles.

“You forgot Luke”.

“No I didn’t, Luke accepted me immediately. I’m the problem”.

"Come to Dani’s room.” I link Luke.

A minute later he knocks on the door, “Dani you need to tell him how you feel”.

I give her a quick hug and open the door to let him in. He mouths thanks to me.

“Treat her right or Alester and I will kill you”.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” he says.

Dani

Luke closes the door after Marcus leaves and sits on the chair.

“Hi”.

“Hi.” he says shyly, “how are you feeling?”

“I’m good.” I turn to face him and I can see he doesn’t believe that I’m good.

“Look, I don’t care that you’re half witch. I wouldn’t care if you were a full witch. Duke and I just want you safe”.

“Are you sure?” I need a little reassurance.

“What I’m sure of is that I’m furious that everyone in your life has abandoned you or been ripped from your life and if Alpha Zane rejected your request to join the pack I’ll leave Blue Moon and go wherever you want.” he declares passionately.

“I never requested to join Blue Moon”.

“After fifteen rejections I just hid myself away in neutral territory and practiced everything my mother taught me. After a few years I started to help scared desperate wolves get away from their packs. It’s what my mom did when I was young”.

“Dani, you are amazing. You’ve always had to look out for yourself. You’re strong and brave and selfless but I want to be there for you, I want to support you and love you and have a family with you when you’re ready”.

“I don’t think I want my own kids.” I look away afraid of how he’ll react.

“Is it because of the witch gene?” he asks, taking my chin in his hand.

I nod.

“Dani, I won’t force it but I’d love for you to mother my cubs at some point. If the witch gene bothers you we have one of the best scientific minds of our time in our pack. I’m sure he could target the gene and get rid of it”.

“Really?”

“Yes, but I don’t care if we had half-witch cubs. They would have us and uncle Alester, uncle Kody, uncle Marcus and auntie Kylah, auntie Tessa and auntie Sadie. They would be loved and cherished the way you should have been.” he says so passionately it makes my heart swoon.

“I don’t want to rush you into a decision on any of this but I’m here when you’re ready”.

Luke takes my hand and gives it a squeeze before he says he’s going to let me rest.

“Wait.” he turns to look at me.

“Stay with me?” I ask.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. You’re my mate and I’d like for you to stay with me.” I smile.

He smiles and we lie down. Luke wraps an arm around my stomach and pulls me closer.

“Goodnight beautiful”.

“Goodnight”.
