Her Forever
Chapter 30

Nathan

Sadie was cradling a young pup in her arms, whispering sweet, encouraging words into the little wolf’s ears. He let out a small sob and nuzzled into her neck. On instinct, Sadie pulled her head on top of his and petted his hair. “Shhh, it will be alright.” She cooed at him.

Sadie was naturally born to comfort, to mother, and to console others. She was the embodiment of the Luna herself, risking her life in order to save the one lost pup among the pack.

The vampire, who I had come to know as Raul, entered the prison only moments ago to release me from my chains. His scent was covered even more since the last time I smelled him. My thoughts immediately turn to Sadie, knowing this was my chance to get her out and finally have her as mine.

“She is in the living room upstairs, and you know what to do,” Raul demanded. I didn’t even look at him. My mind was made up, and I was going to grab Sadie and run. The warriors in the house had all been knocked out by a type of dark magic, their bodies still breathing but unsure if they would awake.

Once I was in the living room, I realized the panic room had already been shut. s**t, there was no way in at this point. Feeling defeated, I hear a small voice going up the stairs. “Wait, come back, Max!” It was Sadie.

I had swiftly headed up the stairs, taking two at a time, sometimes three. Sadie cradled the pup in her arms, slowly turning her body to the door.

She was breathtaking, looking down at the pup. Concern and worry laced her eyes as she continued to stroke his head.

When her eyes met mine, her worry faded with that of excitement. Her frown upturned quickly, realizing I was standing in the doorway. Padding softly across the floor, she engulfed me in a quick hug using one hand while the other held the pup in her arms.

“I’m so happy to see you! Did Seth let you out? He said he would, and I made sure of it! Are you here to help with the border breach? Seth said it was a drill, but I don’t think it is!” Sadie said in a rushed tone. Her heart rate was speeding up, and she was getting too worked up. Her nose started to slowly drip b***d, as well as did her eyes.

“Sadie, your eyes! You are bleeding. What is going on?” I quickly blurted out, ignoring her pleading questions.

“Seth thinks there is black magic or vampire that did this to me, and it’s getting fixed tomorrow! Anyway, help me. We have to get to the panic room.” The noise of the pack house alarms were still loud, and the flashing lights made it hard to study her reactions.

Vampire? A vampire made her sick? Dear goddess, what have I agreed to? My sick obsession with her is going to cause her more trouble. I knew this was too good to be true, having a vampire agreeing to let me have her, to have her to love and take her away from it all. There really was an underlying motive for the deal. My gut was telling me Raul or someone wanted her instead, and I would not let them touch her.

Even in the end, if she didn’t want me, she deserved her safety. Not having some sick bloodsucker taking her away from us all. I do truly love her. However, knowing that Seth was going to let me free because of Sadie is making me realize she is his match. As much as it pains my soul, I know it is for the best.

“Sadie, I have a lot to explain, but we need to get you in the panic room now. Let’s-” Before I could finish my sentence, cold dampened the room as the lights in the pack house went out. I already knew it was a damn vampire because they love their theatrics. Rolling my eyes internally, I twisted around, shielding Sadie and the young child.

I waited for Raul to appear but was unfortunately greeted by another. He was taller, stronger, and his dark aura engulfed the room. The darkness only extended until I could hear Sadie’s teeth chatter. You could feel the fear coming from her.

“Deal is off; get out, bloodsucker.” I spat venomously. My legs and arms got into a defensive stance, as I could feel my wolf surface.

“Ah, ah, ah.” He chuckled lightly. “There never was a deal, and I just needed you to think there was. I knew you would never make it to the cabin you wolves and your loyalty.”

Sadie gasped. “Y-your the guy from the hotel! W-what’s going on, Nathan? What deal?” Sadie asked, confused. I sighed in defeat; the fucker had me. He wanted this to happen, to make me really look like an evil villain. Now all hope was lost of even having her in my life as a friend.

“Oh, I promised him freedom, and he could have you, little dove. I had Raul tell him I just needed you away from your mate so he wouldn’t become more powerful. However, I just needed him to track you, since you are covered in your mate’s scent. You have been difficult to find your whereabouts. That’s alright, though, and I loved the chase, dove.” He took one step forward and rubbed his hands together before extending one toward Sadie.

“The name is Dragos, Dragos Sipean the IV, King of the Vampires of Bergarian.”

Sadie’s mouth was agape, looking from his hand to his face. His features were cold, menacing. His dark eyes flickered with red as he looked at Sadie up and down. The demon inside him wanted her, and her being human will have no chance of stopping it.

“Bergarian? Where is that? I’ve never heard-” She was quickly cut off.

“The other realm, dear, where you will go soon.”

Sadie’s eyes bled more, and she grabbed her head. Trying to hold on to her pup, she gently puts him down on the bed next to her. The boy sat up quickly, trying to wipe away Sadie’s b***d-stained face.

“What have you done to her?” I growled. “What did you f*****g do?” Sadie’s screams got louder as she fell to the floor and curled up into a ball. I raced to her to put her in my arms when a loud bang hit the wall as the door flung open.

Seth was half shifted, his teeth elongated and his wolf’s venom dripping from his teeth. Vampires cannot tolerate werewolf venom, but seeing that this was the King, I doubt it would do anything. Seth’s harsh growls and heavy breathing didn’t even make the vampire flinch. He continued to hold out his hand to Sadie, waiting for her to take it.

Seth lunged at King Dragos, only to have Dragos step out of the way. He was exceedingly fast and dominated the room. Leaving Sadie on the floor, I shifted and help Seth pin the bastard down. Once I had shifted, I stood over Sadie’s body to protect her and the pup from any attack.

Ethan and Marco soon followed. Sadie’s screams didn’t let up; Seth was concentrating on Sadie too much to notice and took a large hit to the face. His concern for Sadie weakened his ability to fight, worried for her safety. The moment Seth was down, Raul appeared from the shadows and pulled me off of Sadie, squeezing my abdominal wall and using his claws to puncture my side. B***d painted the floor as he reached further into my body.

Xander howled in pain; his claw-like nails must have been dipped in wolfsbane to have this reaction on my body. I wasn’t healing, and now Sadie laid on the floor unguarded. More vampires entered the room, and now we were completely outnumbered.

King Dragos quickly scooped Sadie up in his arms. Her screams turned to whimpers as he kissed the top of her forehead. The bleeding finally stopped coming from her eyes and only started dripping out of her mouth. My heart ached to see her like this. Her eyes were like stars in the sky when I first saw her not so long ago; now, they are tainted with crimson b***d.

King Dragos stood tall, holding Sadie as his prize. The fighting stopped, and Seth arose from the floor in his human form. “Put down, my mate.” He seethed.

“She is no longer your mate,” Dragos said. “She is now my beloved, the one who will rule over the vampire kingdom. I’ve staked my claim since she was just a baby, and now I will take her with me and make her mine.” His voice was calm as he stroked the hair from her face.

“She will never love nor care about you, b***d-sucker. She was given to me.” Hands clenched and veins bulging from his body, Seth tried to remain calm.

“There are ways around that. There is magic, you know.” He kissed her cheeks as she laid in his arms. She had passed out from the pain, but as he had kissed her, she moved her head away in disgust. Even in darkness, she knew that wasn’t her mate. Dragos’ smile faltered and gave a deep frown.

“You will bring the war to your country. Werewolves against Vampires, just like old times. You remember how it played out last time, don’t you?” Seth chuckled lowly as he reminded Dragos.

“Yes, but now I have my beloved. Now I will be stronger while you will be left weak and broken because she will be mated with me.” He smiled.

We all growled and lunged at King Dragos one last time, but with the flick of his wrist, he was gone.

Sadie was gone.

It was my fault.

Seth’s anger was a cold blanket that settled in the room. His eyes had been darkened into two large black pools. His nostrils were flared, and his claws and teeth elongated again. He arched his back backward and let out a howl that would make any werewolf’s heartbreak. Everyone will know that we failed to protect our Luna. She was taken by a vampire so powerful even I worry we won’t reach her in time.

My knees hit the floor, and my neck bared to Seth. He had every right to kill me right now. He was going to give me another chance, and I slapped him in the face. I took him and Sadie for granted. I wanted something that was never to be mine, and now she and Seth may suffer for the rest of their lives because of me. Because I was selfish to think I could have her to myself.

Seth sauntered to me, taking his time, letting the tension fill the air. Ethan and Marcos looked on with disgust, upset with my behavior. With one swift moment, his claws buried into my chest, b***d trickled down my torso. The pain radiated through my body; I felt the sting in my fingers and toes. He was holding onto my beating heart. With one quick movement, he could rip it from my body, and I would then become lifeless on the floor.

He didn’t, however.

“I could kill you now. I could kill you 10 times over for the s**t you have pulled.” He squeezed, causing me to cough uncontrollably. “But I’m not, because you are going to make sure she comes back. She would want that.” A tear left his eyes and dropped to the floor. “If we can’t get her back, then I will rip you apart slowly and plant your pathetic use of body parts on all corners of Bergarian. Maybe your mate will find you then? She will smell your pathetic body, and then I’ll find her and torture her, too. That is what you have sentenced Sadie to do; why not return the favor?” Seth spat in my face and walked out the door, spewing profanities and orders throughout the pack house.
