Her Forever
(Book 3)- Chapter 28

Onyx POV

Speaker of the Court

“Sibille!” I screamed in our large home. The home was massive and with just the two of us living here it might be excessive, but I’ll be damned if I had anything less. The cooks, the maids, the servants and even the willing women were all worth it. All worth giving up my destined mate to be able to have power with in the fae kingdom, one of the strongest kingdoms of all Bergarian.

“What is it father?” Sibille walks out in one of her new expensive gowns. Lately, I had been showering her in jewels, dresses, and expensive lingerie for her to seduce the king. All now to be insignificant since now he has his destined. Sibille should have worked harder, be stronger, smarter, and more seductive. She bedded him once and had the gall to start ordering his servants around and rub the king the wrong way.

“Have you seen him today?” I growled. The little wench should have, I’ve ordered her, trained her, and supplied her with all the ammunition, it was just her using it that was the damn problem.

“Yes, Father. He said that little human was his concubine and nothing more,” she flipped her fingers out to look at her nails as she falls to the couch. Not a worried bone in her body, that will change.

“Then you do know that she was in his bed chambers this evening, alone, with her all in a scantily clad silk robe saying that she was his destined?” I all but growled. Her eyes fluttered up, a deep scowl on her face presented.

“What do you mean?!” She yelled. “He said she was a concubine, a meaningless one. One to even just to get me off his back and stop nagging him. He isn’t keeping her!”

“Oh, he is keeping her, and he has claimed her as his. There is no mark but who knows when that will happen. Did you not hear the celebration in the marketplace? He claimed her for all to see, your trip to throne has been has all been halted!” I threw my hands up in the air.

“For years, Sibille, you have been trained for this, to grab the throne, to put our family name in the history books, for us to gain power, prestige and talented army to overthrow the none-the-wiser Moon Kingdom that are now sitting ducks at our feet. All for what? Sleep in his bed one night?” Sibille bit her l*p back and narrowed her eyes.

“All to be, nothing but a w***e,” I spat. This should have been a done deal years ago and now all of it will go down the drain. “Raised beside the king to be a friend, how many damn years did I spend on you? You are as worthless as your mother was in bed!” I threw the closest thing that was next to me, the family picture frame of Sibille’s birth.

Sibille’s mother was nothing but a pawn piece to get to The Court. I had bribed her father with gold, jewels, information on the where about of his own true mate and he gave her to me willingly. Once he had his true mate, he was gone. Marriage to Sibille’s mother gave me the title I had always dreamed of, being part of the Fae Court. Since I have been established it has grown from a tiny seed to a beautiful garden of just the fae people. No pixies, fairies, wisps, the true and elite faes will only be able to run the country. We are the perfected species.

Sibille screamed at the frame falling to the ground and breaking into a thousand pieces. She loved her mother; she still does but her mother went crazy after Sibille was all but 7 years old. Elaine craved for her mate, she was such a docile fae and did what she was told until the day she could no longer handle my firm hand. She cracked, refused to eat or drink and now she is at the Institute of the Mateless. A waste of tax money just let them kill themselves and be over with it. It will be the first place to go once Sibille’s place on the throne is solidified.

“You listen here, Sibille. If you want your mother to remain alive you fix this. You get that weakly human out of The Light Kingdom at all costs. The quicker the better. There is something brewing, and I can feel it deep with in my gut.” Sibille smirks and crosses her arms.

“You sure it isn’t all the nectar you are drinking; it could just be gas.” I turn to slap her, but she pulls up her finger to wave it in my face. “Nuh uh, you can’t mare this pretty skin if you want Orion to have it.” I growled at her. She was right, I couldn’t lay a finger on her she was supposed to be my perfect daughter. Running my hand through my dark hair, I slapped the table.

“What are your plans Sibille?” Looking back up to me, she shows a devilish smirk. “Well, I have a plan B since I figured there was something going on with her the first time I met her. There is a wolf that has had his eyes on her for quite some time. He came to the palace only a few days after she arrived, demanding to see her. He’s chained up in the basement.” Sibille rubs her hands together and smirks.

Rubbing my thumb along my l*p, I nod my head. “Show me.”

Willa’s POV

After Orion’s training sessions in the morning, he had several meetings to attend to. Once it was announced that I was his destined mate, I had to look the part. Molly and Eudora were in their grown size now, helping me get dressed in one of the dresses Orion laid out for me.

A gorgeous purple with small pearls donning the hemming. It was simple and elegant something in my wildest dreams I thought I would be wearing one day. Eudora curled my hair and let it fall loosely behind my back. A small chain with a pink shaped tear drop diamond laid on my neck. It was beautiful, but not as beautiful as Orion. Swoon

There was a large breath that someone had blown out behind me and I immediately knew it was Orion. “Darling, you look gorgeous,” he kissed my cheek. His attire was quite like what he usually wears to his meetings. A sharp looking suit that makes his look so much as the king he is, however it is a deeper purple matching my dress.

Aww how cheesy, we match.

I giggled at him and he gave me questioning look, but I waved him off. Orion led me down the corner, my arm in the crook of his and led me to the throne room. Since he ran out the day before, he had to finished speaking with those he was unable too. The guilt turned in my stomach but he immediately squeezed my hand shook his head.

Now that I wasn’t hiding behind the throne, I could see the full throne room in all it’s glory. The massive room was both tall and wide, able to hold thousands of people. There was not one but five chandeliers in place. There were no chairs set up in the room, but benches that were near the tall windows that reached the sky lights. Several groups of people gathered in different corners of the room with paper in their hands taking notes and questioning each other.

“These people are from outlying towns and territories of The Light Kingdom, they come for either help, requests or just giving me their reports for the past month.” I nodded my head and he led me to the throne. I was expecting a chair beside him so that I could sit but that wasn’t the case. He picked me up and had me sit on his knee like a child.

“I don’t think I like this,” I side-eyed him.

“Behave, you are mine and I’ll let everyone know it.”

“I’m not a child,” I whisper yelled.

“No, but you can be punished like one,” he nipped at my ear as I giggled. This giggling has to stop.

Onyx stood in front of the stairs leading up to the throne and cleared his throat. I didn’t like this guy one bit, he was rude, pushy and the over all cocky attitude was a turn off. “Your Highness, if it be your will, I ask we conduct today’s meeting promptly.”

Orion waved his hand and Annan stepped forward. Annan was starting to become a sneaky stalker for Orion, I hope he hasn’t heard anything from our bedroom. “Attention, we will now begin today’s proceedings, we will resume with the Dayfeather Tribe. Several Fairies flew up to the bottom steps of the throne. They were so far away that I could hardly see their faces but the three had specific colors that stood out. The male wore blue and black while the other two females wore pinks and oranges.

“Your Highness,” the male in blue bowed. We have come to bring our fairy count censes for the year. We also request aide for your protection.” Orion waved his hand for him to continue while another servant took their census. “We have been troubled with macklebees.” Orion rubbed his brow and was about to speak before Onyx broke the silence.

“Macklebees are none of our concern or be worth fighting off. They are insects, not a large animal or super natural that can cause real damage,” Onyx spoke condescendingly.

“What are Macklebees?” I whispered to Annan.

“There are bees about the size of fairies, nasty little buggers that pack a punch when stung. They can kill fairies instantly.” My fists tightened; Onyx just wants the fairies to suffer like that?

“Please,” the pink fairy spoke. “They have ruined our crops and several of us have been seriously injured. We can’t fight them off in our larger form for long period of time and they are reproducing in an alarming rate around our village. Their own natural predator the bear, don’t live around us. We don’t know how the macklebees got here in the first place! They are a rainforest type species.”

“That isn’t our problem, the King-“

“Will help.” I spoke boldly. Orion smirked and held his hand on my thigh. “The king is supposed to help all his subjects, why would he not help the village of Dayfeather?” The room became quiet, too quiet. All were looking up at me, but I kept my face pinned on Onyx.

“They are all but fairies, Willa” Onyx said passively.

“You speak to her by her title, Speaker!” Orion yelled. Many fae in the room backed up in fear. “She is right, we help all of the kingdom. Annan, grab the General of Subject Affairs and relay to him the information and get a team out there.” Annan did a slight bow and smirked at me, I was still angry and the Court Speaker, he was to speak for the people and obviously he wasn’t.

“Easy, Darling. I know you are angry, but we must be slow.” I leaned back in his arms and he pulled me close, kissing me slowly and sweetly. He parts our lips and looks into my eyes. “You will be an amazing queen.”

“I hope so,” I whispered.

The next several hours had passed, and I kept my mouth completely quiet. Onyx would often butt in to give his own opinion which Orion ignored blatantly which only fuels his fire. I know The Court is corrupted and even with Onyx blatantly rebutting everything other than the Fae people it is apparent things must change. I’m just glad that Orion cares for his entire nation and species instead of just the fae.

My eyes were growing heavy, but my bladder was full so I had to nudge Orion during a five minute break between meetings. “I’m in need of the lady’s room,” I whispered quietly and he only chuckled. He had been so comfortable just siting on his lap but I also really need to stretch my legs. “I’ll come with you,” he muttered and we both stand.

“Your Highness, a word?” Onyx gave a large smile and held out his hand. Orion looked down at him and gave him a firm, “no.”

“You Highness, it will only take a moment. You can have your guards escort her so we can talk in private. It is rather urgent. It involves the Ogre Chief.” Orion looks to Annan and the Red Fury and nodded. I was going to have a whole entourage to the bathroom.

“She never leaves your side,” he warns, and he pecks my lips lightly.

“Be back soon, my queen.” I giggle and give him one more k**s. If the bond is strong now, I crave what will be next.

Two guards in front, a guard and a adviser are behind me as they lead me to a private bathroom in a secluded hallway. “Be quick, Your Highness,” Fionn warns after returning from scouting the bathroom. I gave a mock salute while they laughed at me and entered.

Washing and drying my hands and one quick check in the mirror for any yucky crumbs mascara can leave behind I walk out to and empty hallway. Not good. If anything, this tells me bad news is about to happen. I have two options, stay put or run and find the throne room as quick as I can.

Preferring not to be a sitting duck, I run. I continue to run until I hit the throne room doors and swing them open to find no one there. The room is still well lit but the absence of people. There were no sounds, not even birds on the outside and my slipper feet were making all the noise. My heartbeat was thrumming in my head in panic.

The door behind me creaked open and it was taking every ounce of power to turn and see who it was. I had not been afraid when I first found out about werewolves and the super natural, it all fit into place. My only fear was my emotions and getting hurt again which I never had to be afraid of in the first place. This time, I have something to be afraid of. I’m the target of the entire Fae Court, Sibille, Onyx and who knows who else.

So here it is, I’m going to fight how ever that might entail, physically, mentally or with my wits because by gods I was going to get my happily ever after I freaking deserved.
