Her Forever
(Book 2)- Chapter 64

Rosalie

My breath hitched as I saw, in slow motion, Chamunda pushing me to the tiled floor. With my new senses I wondered why neither me or anyone else for that matter, knew she was here. I couldn’t even sense she was behind me let alone in the same room.

Flipping over quickly, the towel now pooled around my back and my breaths were light and erratic. The tapping of her cloven hooves as she came closer made my heart clench in fear. Training with Jack had never crossed my mind yet, and now I’m really regretting my decision. Reaching for Marigold I couldn’t hear anything, there was a wall I couldn’t break. Sensing my distress, the female demon, Chamunda, chuckled darkly as the sounds of Anana’s voice and her own mixed together.

“You can’t run now, pretty Luna.” The clacking of her hooves stopped in front of me. Her hand came down to grip my throat but I quickly darted away and grabbed the towel rack for support. “I don’t have time for this. You can’t link your pack and you can’t access your Wolf so I suggest you give up quietly and it won’t be as painful.” Chamunda’s forked tongue slid from her lips as swiped across her chapped lips.

Trying to think quickly, I darted from the bathroom only to be slung by an invisible force, face first, on the bedroom floor. My forehead bounced on the fuzzy shag carpet. Picking myself with my forearms I saw her strolling quickly towards me. My instincts say to run but my gut tells me to stay and fight. Maybe Marigold was still in there after all. Jumping to my feet I grabbed the drawer of the nightstand and pulled it out. Books, letter openers and pens fell out quickly and with one giant swing I aimed the corner to the side of the demon’s head. Not expecting the impact, it hit her on the left side of her temple causing her to jerk her head backwards and drop to the floor.

Looking down at the drawer, I saw b***d splattered across the corner. It wasn’t just a little either. Chamunda held the side of her head and g*****d as she shook her head back and forth to regain her balance. Even though she was a demon, and a powerful one at that, she was in pain and taking a few minutes to recover. She can get hurt in her human body.

The new found thought gave me a jolt of energy as I took the drawer and slammed it back into her head. She screeched something inhuman as b***d pooled on the back of her head. The wound on her temple began to heal but at a slower rate. My mind had a large film of static come through as I heard faint voices of Jack trying to reach me.

“Op… en.. Do,” was all I could make out. The static subsided and I could hear pounding on the master bedroom doors. Dropping the drawer I took two large steps forward only to be grabbed by my ankle and pulled harshly down. Her body might be able to break but her strength was still there. I yelped in pain and felt her claws dig into my ankle drawing b***d, a soft yelp left my lips as I could now hear people on the other side of the door, mainly Jack.

“Open the f*****g door!” The banging on the large mahogany double doors rattled but to no avail would they move. Why would they? There was a mental block on their Wolves and the strength we draw from them. Jack roared on the other side while you could hear Odin, Benjamin, Keith and Bruce arguing. Not able to pay attention, my vision diverted back to Chamunda.

“Can’t run now!” she cackled. “Do you hear that, you pathetic Wolves? You. Are. Useless! The b***d that was dripping from her wound was now healed and I had to start all over in trying to subdue her so I could open the door. Her hands began pulling me as she stood up, dragging me to the open balcony door. Reaching out, trying to find anything on the floor as she drug me, I found a letter opener and grabbed it. With one quick movement of my arm I sat up, digging it into her upper thigh. She grunted in pain, but it wasn’t enough to stop her.

Again and again I took the letter opener, forcing it into her leg until she finally gave out, her wounds not healing as fast as they could have with as many open wounds she had. I stood up, getting ready to sprint to the door again but she pulled me back with the invisible force she had used to push me earlier. The letter opener was still sticking out of her thigh as the force drug me to her. My nails were scratching the wood as I panicked at the sudden realization that I may not leave this room, alive anyway. I concentrated with all my might to grab ahold of something but the slick floor was all I could find, her chuckles were dark and her fanged teeth were now on display. It had to be the most horrifying thing I had ever seen. Her forked tongue slithered in and out of her teeth, smelling my fear.

“Why are you doing this?” I screamed. There had to be a reason and if I was going to die I wanted to know the biggest question of them all from her, “Why!”

The tail I failed to notice came around and wrapped around my neck and sat me up. My hands instantly went up to try and pull the tail from my neck. Chamunda leaned in, I could smell the rancid rotting meat of her teeth near me, almost making me sick.

“You want to know why?” She whispered and licked my cheek. I nodded quickly to hear her answer, still hearing the banging on the door I tried to gain some sort of courage, which there was none.

“I was created by Hades himself, the god who lost his love Persephone to her true mate,” her tongue danced on my lips and I shivered in disgust. “When he creates a demon he puts a drop of his b***d into them so he would always have control. He can command, order, kill and even save his demons but he did something different with me. Hades gave me a bit of his essence.” I scrunch my face in confusion.

“Silly little Wolf, it means he wanted me to be his soulmate. Without his b***d I had agency to do as I will. I gained some of his power with the essence and left the underworld and entered another body. Anana was weak so it was quite easy.” Her voice then became sickly sweet and trailed her claw down my chin and to my chest. “Soulmates only make gods weaken in strength, it has made Hades weak for even desiring such a thing, let alone indulging in it,” she spat. “See how desperate he was to create a creature like me? Now I have no ties to Hades and he cannot command me. I do as I please, even if that means hunting, stalking, devouring souls like Anana’s and yours.”

As she monologue, her power had dwindled. I could feel Marigold clawing out of the wall she had been captured in. Her howling in my head let me know she was coming but I didn’t know if she would be too late.

“And souls like yours, the innocent and meek are insanely sweet.” Charmund opened her mouth wide and was going to devour my neck until I grabbed on to the bloody letter opener she had left in her thigh carelessly. Once her eyes were set on my neck and her teeth grazed my skin I thrust forward into her bare chest.

Her tail loosened around my neck and I pulled the letter opener from her. Sitting back she looked at me in shock as she grabbed her chest. As soon as she fell back on the ground with a thud, Marigold howled at me to finish the job. My right hand formed into our mighty claws and I clawed through her chest. I was relentless, I continued to pull at her, ripping meat from the bone and pulled out her heart and threw it across the room. B***d stained my hands as I looked at it in disbelief.

Still being naked, b***d dripping from my body, I had never witnessed or done anything close to this. Tears flooded my eyes. Flashbacks of my childhood began to surface.

The branding she had done to my chest to force a bond, to force me to love someone that shouldn’t have been mine. The scars that Derek had inflicted on me all because Anana had told him I should have been beaten into submission. The sleepless nights on a cold basement floor, the rats scurrying across my body, looking for food and oftentimes nipping at my toes.

It all came back like a real nightmare. My eyes started to see spots, my hearing became tunneled and the last thing I saw before I slumped to the floor was Charmunda’s unbeaten heart.

Jack

“Someone get this damn door open! Get a f*****g ax or something?” I screamed. Sampson couldn’t be felt, as well as for the others and their Wolves.

I had felt immense pain while I was training with my father and instantly knew it wasn’t that of my own. Sprinting across the field, Witches were starting to congregate around the pack house, talking amongst themselves in hushed tones. “What is the meaning of this, what is going on?”

“There is a disturbance, but it is so faint we can barely feel it,” Bodhi spoke. Without another word I raced up the stairs to hear a struggle in my room when I put my ear next to the door. This was a f*****g bad time for having sound proof rooms. There was a large thud of a piece of furniture falling, the only way I knew was the vibrations coming from the floor. Trying to open the door, it was locked so I started screaming for her.

“Rosalie!! Open the door!” There was a scream and a sob and I knew that b***h of a demon was there. Bodhi came up to me and put her hand on my shoulder. “She’s here.”

“No, s**t, get me in there,” I yelled.

“All of our powers are weak, the demon is suppressing the power around the other supernaturals. It is part of his essence,” Bodhi said hurriedly.

“Contact Hades, the b***h is here, now go if you can’t help.” Bodhi ran off and the rest of the Witches were making a pentagram on the floor of the foyer several stories down.

My father came running up to the door and we immediately started running into the door with our bodies, trying to shake something loose. “Damn doors!” my father roared. “An ax! Get an ax!” Keith and Bruce came running up the stairs, starting to argue with my father how an ax wouldn’t work on the reinforced mahogany doors. Trying to think quickly, I thought of the window but even that would be a steep climb and without our Wolves and strength it would be worthless.

The Witches downstairs were still conjuring an old way to summon Hades and with a few more poundings of the door I felt the static in my head. Sampson pounced forward, “NOW!” he roared as he burst through the barricade in my head and the doors flung open with a loud bang. Scanning the room, I see nothing but b***d. Sampson begins to whimper in my head while everyone behind me stills.

That is where we see Anana’s body, now of the looks of a demon, Chamunda laying dead on the floor. Her chest was ripped open, parts of her were slung onto the bed, the walls, the plush white carpet that Rosalie loves so much. It was a gruesome sight even for my father who inhaled deeply and let a soft, “holy s**t,” from his lips.

The bond pulled me to the corner of the room. My small, bloody and naked mate laid slumped against the wall. Growling at others to leave as I raced towards her I grabbed her and cradled her in my arms. Her hands still had her claws out, wet tears still trailing down her face. My ear went straight to her chest, just to be sure her heart was the one I could hear beating. It was there, it really was. Her wounds had already healed, she was safe. Safe and in my arms.
