Finding Her True Alpha
Chapter 71: Learning to portal

Ashlyn

It’s been a few days now since I woke up in the. hospital. I’m in our room, getting ready for our meeting with King Draco and King Gregory. We are leaving early, so l can get some magic training in with Nathan. I was in the closet trying to find something to wear when Sage walked into our room.

“Coffee?” she asked me when I walked out of the closet. And I nodded. She handed me the second mug she was holding.

“What’s up?” I asked her after I took a sip.

“Nothing.” She shrugged, but I could see something was bothering her.

“Okay, we’ll what should I wear for magic training?” I asked her.

“Comfy clothes, ones you can move in. And then pack something nice for the meeting.” She answered.

“How nice?” I asked her.

“Maybe your dress will appear.” She shrugged, and I sighed.

“Leggings and a hoodie it is.” l announced before I walked back into the closet to get changed. Hopefully, my dress will appear so I won’t have to worry about looking nice.

“Ashlyn, can I ask you something?” She called out from where she was sitting on the bed.

“Yeah, what’s up?” I called back. She appeared in the doorway before she asked her question.

“What do you think of Brandon?” She asked me nervously.

“What do you think of Brandon?” I asked her with a smirk. And she sighed.

“Would it be selfish to ask you to place a mate for us?” She asked, looking away. I walked over to her after I pulled up my leggings.

“ls that what you both want? Have you talked to Brandon about how you’re feeling?” I asked her.

“Not with so many words, but I really care about him. I didn’t think it would be possible for us to actually be together. It was just for fun in the beginning, but now.”

She told me, taking a deep breath.

“But now?” Encouraging her to continue.

“But now, I can actually see a future with him, where we could have a family and a life. And lI think I want that with him.” She continued, and I nodded.

“Whenever the two of you are ready, I’d be honored to join you both with a mate bond. And it will be great to have both Mason and my Beta together.” I told her with a smile. She rushed me with a hug.

“Thank you so much. I was so nervous about asking. I didn’t know how you felt about me with Brandon.” She breathed out.

“I’m so glad to see you both happy. I love you both so much.” I told her, hugging her tight.

“Wait, both beta’s?” she asked, puling away.

“I want you to be my beta. I have Liam and Matt as our Gammas, and Brandon is Mason’s Beta. And I want you beside me. I trust you the most.” I told her and her face lit up.

“You’re serious?” And I nodded.

“Thank you. Thank you, I’m so honored.” She exclaimed, hugging me tightly again.

“Okay, get ready. We have to meet Nathan.” She told me while she rushed out of the room. I’m assuming she’s going to tell Brandon the news.

I put on a sports bra and a long sleeve shirt, then I pulled on a hoodie. I went over to the bathroom to braid my hair, and when I was satisfied, I grabbed my coffee and made my way out into the living room. Everyone was waiting for me to get ready. I walked into the kitchen to put my now empty mug into the sink before I made my way back into the living room.

“You ready, Baby?” Mason asked me.

“As ready as l’ll ever be,” I answered.

“You’ll do amazing with your magic training, Babygirl,” Derek reassured me, walking over to me. He wrapped his arms around me, making me smile.

“That’s not what I’m worried about,” I told him.

“You’re worried about King Draco?” Derek asked me and I nodded.

“You have nothing to worry about. He is the former King and King Theo has already assured us that there will not be a war.” Mason told me, and I nodded. Too bad I wasn’t worried about war. I know it must hurt that his mate didn’t seek his help, that she didn’t accept their bond. That can’t be easy and then to find out that she had s*x with another one of her mates and got pregnant.

I couldn’t imagine if both my mates didn’t accept me. I’m not sure what my mother was thinking.

Sage opened a portal, and we all stepped through into the council building’s front gardens. Nathan and King Arthur were there to greet us.

“Hey, sis.” Nathan wrapped me in a hug. “You ready for some magic training?” he asked me and I nodded.

“l am. Show me how to open a portal.” l exclaimed excitedly.

“Starting with a hard one, huh?” he raised an eyebrow at me and laughed.

“I would make my life so much easier if l could portal, then I wouldn’t have to rely on Sage.” I told him.

“You two have fun. We are going to check on the King’s,” Sage told me, giving me a side hug.

Both Derek and Mason came over to give me a k!ss before they all walked into the council building. Then it was just me and Nathan.

“So, a portal?” he asked again, and I nodded.

“Okay, but first I want you to try something for me, okay?” he asked me and I nodded again. I’d do anything to learn how to portal.

“First, take my hands and then close your eyes.” And I did what he asked.

“I’m just searching your magic. I want to see how strong it will become.” He told me, right before a force pushed us apart and we both landed on our a*sses.

“Was that good or bad?” I asked him, standing up and brushing off the snow.

“You are definitely powerful. Okay, now I want you to focus on that pull you feel in your chest. Close your eyes and picture where you want to be.” he explained, and I did what I was told. I know it was silly, but I focused on my former pack house’s kitchen. I missed lan and I haven’t been able to speak to him with everything going on. I heard a gasp and opened my eyes to find I had opened a portal and lan was looking at me, surprised.

“Ashlyn, how?” he stuttered out.

“lan, step through.” I told him and he looked nervous. But he finally stepped through and the portal closed behind him, making him jump.

“Ashlyn, what the hell just happened?” He stuttered out.

“lan, I’m half witch.” I shrugged, and he looked at me, stunned.

“Oh, and this is Nathan. He’s the King of the magic kingdom and my brother. Nathan, this is a really good friend of mine, from my former pack.” I introduced them, and they shook hands.

“Where are your mates?” he asked, turning his attention back to me.

“They are in the council building. Nathan is training me, and I have just opened my first portal to Blue Moon,” I announced proudly.

“What?” Nathan breathed out.

“How? That pack is over ten hours away. How the hell did you do that?” Nathan asked me and shrugged.

“You’re the master. How am l supposed to know how I did it?” I asked him and he didn’t give an answer.

“Wait, your half witch? a hybrid?” lan asked, and I nodded.

“It’s a long story and I’m sorry l haven’t texted you.

It’s been crazy around here. How have you been?” I asked him.

“Boring, compared to you,” he said, and I laughed.

“Sometimes, boring is okay,” I told him. I wish my life would be boring. lan walked over to me and wrapped me in a bear hug.

“I’m glad to see you, and I’m glad it’s under happier circumstances.” He whispered into my neck.

“I missed you too, lan.” | smiled up at him when he pulled away.

“So, how do I get home now? Not that I don’t want to stay to hang out with you, but I have meetings this morning.” lan told me.

“I understand. Give me a second. I have to think of the kitchen again.” l explained. Closing my eyes, I thought of the pack house kitchen again. When l opened my eyes, there was the kitchen.

“Wow, that is fantastic.” lan whispered, awestruck.

He turned back to me before he stepped back through.

“Come visit, anytime.” he smiled.

“I promise.” l called out to him before the portal closed. As soon as the portal closed, my knees buckled, and I fell into the snow. Nathan rushed over to me.

“Ashlyn, are you okay?” he asked me, concerned. He Wiped my nose, and I noticed b***d on his fingers.

“Okay, training is over for today. You are using too much magic, too quickly. You need to build up a tolerance to the magic being used.” he explained, helping me to stand.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered to him.

“There is no need to be sorry. That was amazing.

You just need to rest and we can try again later, okay?” he asked while he led me into the council building and I nodded. Nathan led me into the dining room where everyone else was. Derek and Mason were immediately at my side.

“Baby, what happened?” Mason asked me while taking Nathan’s place.

“I’m fine, just used too much magic at once.” I told him while Derek was smelling me.

“Why the hell do you smell like lan?” Derek growled out, and I sighed.

“She opened a portal to Blue Moon,” Nathan explained, and Sage gasped.

“She what?” she exclaimed.

“What’s wrong?” Mason asked, now concerned.

Derek was wrapping his arms around me, trying to get the smell of the other alpha off of me.

“Derek stop.” I told him, trying to push him away. And he grumbled.

“Nothing’s wrong with it. It’s just impressive. Her first portal was to a place over ten hours away.” Sage explained.

“Both of you, I’m fine. Just a little tired.” I told them both sternly.

“Then why was your nose bleeding?” Mason asked me, raising an eyebrow.

“It happens when too much magic is used all at once and the user isn’t used to it,” Nathan explained.

“So, why did you want to see lan?” Mason asked me, and Derek let out a growl.

“I just wanted to talk to him. I haven’t been able to tell him anything that has happened.” They both looked at each other as I told them.

“Both of you need to start trusting me.”
