Finding Her True Alpha -
Chapter 149: Being Hit by a Dragon
Ashlyn
When I finally came to, my entire body felt broken. This time, I had to be dead. No one could have lived through that.
“If you were dead, you wouldn’t be in pain.” Freya g*****d in my head.
“True. You think I’d be a pro by now.” I g*****d at her.
The realization hit me that if I could feel the pain, I could now feel my body. The drug must be out of my system now, but I wish I still wasn’t able to feel anything.
Sparks on my arms told me my mates must be with me, but I couldn’t bring myself to open my eyes. I can now say that this is the worst pain I’ve ever experienced.
“Open your eyes, Baby.” Mason whispered beside me.
“I can’t. Everything hurts. Did I hit the ground?” I g*****d. And Mason chuckled.
“Just a dragon,” he said. I tried to run through my memories to see when I would have hit a dragon.
“What dragon?” I asked when I realized I didn’t know what he was talking about.
“Babygirl, I’m sorry, but you were falling fast. Magnus didn’t have time to slow down before he grabbed you.” I heard Derek say.
“Well, that’s a new one.” I told him, with a chuckle, before hissing out from the pain in my abdomen.
“I know it hurts, but can you please open your eyes,” Mason pleaded, and l g*****d.
“I hate you.” I told him as I tried to open my eyes. My entire face felt swollen, as I forced my eyes open to see both my mates looking down at me. I was grateful that their bodies were blocking the sun. My head was already pounding, and I felt nervous.
“You okay?” Derek asked me.
“No, but did anyone else get hurt?” I asked them, remembering the bomb.
“Nothing that can’t be treated and the kids are okay. They were with the Fae Queen,” Mason said. I blew out a breath, closing my eyes again.
“That’s good.” I told them with a yawn.
“Babygirl, what happened?” Derek asked me, pulling me up against his chest. I was now sitting between his legs, snuggled into his chest.
“Why am I na*ked?” I asked, suddenly realizing they wrapped me in a blanket.
“It knocked me out.” Freya answered in my head.
“That’s how you shifted back.” Mason answered, and I sighed.
“I’m glad that everyone is okay. But I need to speak with Jordan.” I told them, opening my eyes. Mason was kneeling beside me, watching me.
“His dad?” He asked me and I nodded.
“Are you okay? Your smell is off.” Derek asked me, leaning down, k!ssing my forehead.
“Yeah, I can explain that at home, but right now I just want to explain to Jordan what happened, see my babies, and get home.” I told them.
“Do you think you can stand?” Derek asked me.
“Do wolves fly?” I mumbled out. Mason chuckled while I snuggled into Derek. I couldn’t stand. I could barely move.
“I think that’s a no.” Mason chuckled.
“Mom, are you okay?” I heard Gabby’s sweet voice. I opened my eyes to find her standing behind Mason.
“Gabby bear, come here, sweetie.” I motioned for her to come to me. My arms may feel heavy and everything hurt, but Gabby looked so Scared.
“Just be gentle, sweetie, momma has been through a lot.” Mason whispered to her, before she moved towards me. Grabbing her hand, I pulled her down into my chest, wrapping my arms around her. I held on to my g***n when her body hit mine. Gabby started sobbing as soon as she buried her face in my chest.
“Gabby bear, what’s wrong, sweetie?” I whispered to her.
“I was so scared.” She sobbed out.
“Oh, my little love, I’m so sorry.” I told her, moving her to my lap, holding her close.
“Is James okay?” I looked up at Mason, and he nodded.
“He’s with Sage,” Mason answered.
“Where is everyone?” I asked them.
“They are all inside. Our team and Brandon are helping everyone that was outside when the blast hit. Jordan is getting teams ready to go where you were taken. And Sage and the Fae Queen are handling the children.” Mason said, and I nodded.
“Can you mindlink Brandon to find Jordan? And I will also need Sage. I won’t be able to open another portal.” I told him and he nodded.
Gabby’s breathing had even fallen out, and I knew she had fallen asleep. Poor girl, I feel terrible for making her worry.
“Brandon is on it.” Mason informed me, and I snuggled back into Derek with Gabby snuggled into me.
I didn’t realize I had closed my eyes until Sage engulfed me in a hug with James. James started whimpering until I took him into one of my arms and he snuggled in beside Gabby.
“Ashlyn, what the hell?” Sage exclaimed, pulling away.
“I explain everything after Jordan gets here.” I told her. She snuggled in beside me and we were all sitting in between Derek’s legs.
“Can you stop scaring me?” Sage mumbled.
“I think we are officially out of people.” I told her.
“Babygirl, what do you mean?” Derek asked me.
“Unless King Draco wanted me, everyone else is dead or family, so I think l’m safe.” I answered.
“Both your fathers are dead. Jordan’s father is now dead: So that just leaves my father and King Draco,” Derek said, and I nodded.
“And your father would never hurt me. And I don’t think that King Draco would either.” l told him.
“Also, you have two of your mates, one is dead, one is mated and one is your brother, so I think we are also good there.” Sage said and I sighed.
“Maybe now I can get some sleep,” l said.
“And have more babies.” Sage giggled.
“I think I’m good,” I told her with a yawn.
“But we have to have babies together.” She whined.
“Are you pregnant?” I asked her.
“Not yet. I just wanted to give you the head up.” She said excitedly.
“I’ll get you on the next one.” I told her, and Derek chuckled.
“Whenever you’re ready” Derek whispered, k!ssing my temple.
“That’s not fair.” Sage pouted.
“Baby, didn’t you say you’d have another one when Sage has one?” Mason asked. I opened my eyes just to glare at him.
“Magnus can hit you, and then you can tell me if you’re ready to have a baby.” I huffed, and they all chuckled.
“You’ll be healed in no time and then you can get on these two and we can be pregnant together.” Sage exclaimed, and I turned my glare to her.
“You picked the worst possible time to bring this up.” I told her.
“Oh, come on. Look how cute they are? And could you imagine how beautiful your girl would be?” Sage cooed.
“You’re such a bitch.” I huffed, and she giggled, resting her head on my shoulder.
“But you love me,” She said.
“That’s my line,” I told her before noticing Jordan was walking over to us. I know I looked like a hot mess, because l felt like one.
“Ashlyn, you’re awake.” Jordan exclaimed, kneeling down beside Mason.
“Jordan, is everyone safe?” l asked him, and he nodded.
“Thanks to you, they are. You saved almost half the kingdom by your actions.” He said, and I nodded.
“Jordan, I need to tell you something and it’s not good,” I told him.
“My father?” he asked, and I nodded.
“What was he planning?” He asked me and I sighed.
“It pissed him off that my mother didn’t choose him.
He thought that having a child with me would give him absolute power,” I said, and they all gasped.
“ls that why your scent is off?” Derek exclaimed.
“I closed off the bond as much as I could. He touched me but nothing else,” I explained.
“Baby, what did he do?” Mason asked, and I shook my head.
“It doesn’t matter. He wanted you and Derek dead so that he could mark me.” I told him. I could feel that they were both angry.
“So he wanted to wipe everyone out who was in power so that he could rule.” Jordan asked me, and I nodded.
“And this Ryan guy?” Mason asked, and I sighed.
“It was the same Ryan that I met that night, but I don’t know why he was involved. I saw him down the hallway when I exited the bathroom. He was the distraction while the king stuck a muscle relaxer into my spine.” I told them.
“And that’s why you couldn’t fight?” Derek asked me, and I nodded.
“I made sure that I got the whereabouts of the bomb before I froze them with Freya’s help. She couldn’t shift because l couldn’t use my magic. I’m not even sure how I could portal her or find the bomb. Freya shifted, but she didn’t want to. She said that with the state my body was in from the drug, that it could kill me.” I told them.
“I just sent some teams out to where he took you. I will get al of this handled and hand over everything that I find.” Jordan said, and I nodded.
“I’m sorry, Jordan.” I told him.
“Don’t be. That bastard was about to kill my family. He got was he deserved.” Jordan said.
“Can we go home, or do you need anything else?” I asked him.
“You should go home with your family. I can handle everything here. And if I need anything, I will call Mason and Derek. You’ve done enough.” He told me and I nodded.
“I may become a lawn ornament. There’s no way I can move,” I said, and he chuckled.
“I’ll take James.” Sage said, taking a sleeping James off my chest.
“And I’ll get Gabby.” Mason said, scooping her up.
“And I get you.” Derek whispered, before standing up and then scooping me up, bridal style.
“Ashlyn, thank you again for everything that you have done today.” Jordan told me, standing in front of us.
“I’m glad l made it back in time.” I told him with a smile.
“We’ll make plans when you are feeling better. I know Melanie would like to thank you.” He said, and I nodded
“0f course. And I still want cake.” I told him and he chuckled.
“Just not pink and green icing.” He winked at me, and I giggled.
“I guess it’s a good thing that Freya destroyed it when she shifted.” When Derek walked through the portal and we were now standing in front of our home, I was thankful that could finally rest. Closing my eyes, I let Derek’s walking sway me to sleep.
