Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) -
Chapter 1116
Marina waited until Cindy left before she let her expression return to normal, then she continued on her way to the restroom. Carson reached out and grabbed her wrist, with a smile on his face, "I'm just curious, were you really going to lend her money?" "Lend her money?" Marina scoffed, "I'd rather slap her twice, wonder if she'd fancy that?"
Carson's smile deepened, his eyes twinkling, "Seeing how tough you are, how could you lose to her?"
Marina's eyes dimmed a bit, she said self-deprecatingly, "Because I once believed that love should be handled with sincerity."
She laughed again, "Who's the dumber one? Some people just don't stoop to schemes and games. Those slightly smarter ones think they're better, thinking they can play others like a fiddle!"
Carson nodded, "You've got a point! We could make a good team; you can stay cool and occasionally show off your smarts!"
Marina got what Carson meant. They would never fall in love, no risk of losing themselves or their rationality. In fact, before this, she had already been thinking about breaking up with him. But now, she changed her mind.
If she could use Carson to annoy Cindy, that would be a nice bonus. And most importantly, Carson was smart!
She raised an eyebrow, "Cindy already harbors resentment towards me, and the best way to deal with a woman is to take away everything she holds dear. She'll certainly come after you, are you sure you can withstand the schemes of a cunning and beautiful woman?"
Carson chuckled, "To be honest, Cindy's looks and tactics are far from my taste!"
This made Marina extremely pleased, and she raised her hand for a high five, "Deal!"
Carson slapped her hand in agreement, finding the whole situation amusing.
Marina said, "You've helped me, so if you ever need anything, just let me know."
"Don't worry, I won't be shy!" Carson stood up, leaned close to Marina, his smile suddenly disappearing, "Just one thing, I don't want to see you crying over that Freddy again. Even if you love him, cry at home under the covers. Don't embarrass me!"
Marina was taken aback; looking into Carson's deep eyes, she knew she had guessed right. Earlier on the field, he had already warned her in his unique way.
She looked at his handsome, expressionless face and slowly nodded, "I won't do it again."
"Good."
Carson gave a slight smile, still the gentlemanly Carson, he headed towards the private room.
Marina also continued to the restroom, each going their separate ways. A sudden chill ran down her back, as she started to question if she had made the right choice.
After dinner, everyone started to prepare to head back to the city.
Meanwhile, Freddy had become the laughing stock of the entire park. He had tried desperately to win the game, but ended up not only injured but also several million dollars in debt.
Freddy's father found out that he had taken the company's procurement funds and drove to the eco-park, only to find out that he had lost all the money gambling. He was so angry that his blood pressure skyrocketed and nearly passed out. The doctor immediately gave him medication to lower his blood pressure and protect his heart. He gave Freddy a severe scolding and even slapped him twice, regardless of his injuries.
Cindy tried to intervene, but was also slapped by Freddy's father. He blamed her for instigating Freddy and being greedy for money.
The atmosphere in the infirmary was chaotic.
At this time, Estelle and Marina were preparing to leave the eco-park.
As they parted ways, Marina felt reluctant to leave and made plans with Estelle to hang out sometime.
Estelle also had a good impression of Marina and happily agreed.
