Romans POV

Without thinking I smashed through the window catching Cleo off guard yet the man controlling the flames didn't even flinch. Turning to face me his face shared similarities with Cleo. Their noses, their eyes and even the posture they held were the same. There was no denying this was Hades.

"ROMAN! ITS A TRAP GET OUT!" Out of nowhere a flame spiralled around me pinning me to the wall. "YOU HAVE ME, LET HIM GO! LET HIM GO!" I growled hearing how my mate begged for my life until realisation set in. Lucille didn't want to be Luna, she wanted me here and knew exactly how to accomplish it.

"SILENCE!" Pulling the flames that bound Cleo closer to him I thrashed trying to break free and get to her. Every move I made the heat grew stronger burning into my flesh. "You may have the fire element under your belt my boy, but this is hellfire." He sneered as he placed his long sharp blackened nails on Cleo's large bump.

My heart began to race knowing he wanted the pup dead. As Cleo screamed blood began to pool on the ground. Forcing his hand into her stomach he pulled the pup free.

"NOO!" I shouted my voice mixed with that of my wolf as the flames restraining Cleo receded until she dropped to the floor he screams stopping as she laid motionless and silent.

My eyes flicked between my mate and my pup knowing how useless I was in this moment. They needed me and I couldn't do a fucking thing.

"LEAVE HER ALONE! YOU HARM HER AND I SWEAR TO THE MOON GODDESS ABOVE I WILL RIP YOUR COLD HEART FROM YOUR FUCKING CHEST!"

"Tell your Moon Goddess whatever you want, because I will get her right after she has watched every single one of her blood relatives die." Clicking his fingers, a woman entered the room holding a black blanket. Snatching it from her he wrapped the pup up rocking her in his arms.

Taking her tiny hand in his he sliced her palm her instant cries painful. Dropping her blood into the fire that illuminated the bone made fireplace the flames instantly turned an icy blue. Without looking back, he stepped into the blue flames vanishing from sight.

Only once he was completely gone did the fire binding me disappear. As I dropped to my knees I scurried as quick as I could to Cleo. Her eyes were open as she silently cried. Placing her head in my lap and holding her hand her body began to tremble.

"Ro... Rom..."

"Shh don't talk it's going to be ok. You're going to be ok and so is our daughter. We just have to get you home and to the hospital until your wolf can heal you."

'She's too weak to travel the way we came.' Balthazar was right. With the amount of blood Cleo lost I couldn't risk it.

"Looks like we arrived in time." Turning around I watched Henrik and my father's step through a portal.

"Help me!" Hearing the pain in my voice my fathers rushed to my side placing their hands over mine to stem Cleo's bleeding. They may have their issues with who she is but I knew neither one of them would allow me to suffer the loss of a mate like they had.

Cleo's POV ***flashback***

"Your lover will be here soon, imagine the look on his face when he finds out he was betrayed. You wolves, never loyal, never able to understand the fundamentals of a lie." Hades wrapped me in the hellfire I now knew our bloodline controlled. While it didn't burn me it wasn't exactly comfortable. I hadn't been in his presence long enough to claim I knew him, but I knew enough to know he was stalling that much was clear but why.

"Talking about Roman I take it. Your hatred of wolves is what will be your undoing. The Moon Goddess mated you to a wolf, so how can you hate us?

"Hm and how did that work out I wonder?"

"Most likely the fact you're damn right evil. As for loyal, you don't know the meaning of the word. Had you my mother may just have stayed by your side." My words hitting a nerve Hades slapped me.

"Dear daughter you still don't understand do you. Your 'mate' your 'reason for living' has betrayed you and for the person that has betrayed him to say the least. I'd say you'll work it out but you won't. You won't be alive long enough." "You won't kill me you need me!"

"Do I though? Or do I just need a part of you?"

***present day***

"Roman calm down this isn't going to bring either of them back. You heard the doctor Cleo needs to pull through on her own. Magic risks causing complications."

"And you don't think my daughter being taken is a complication? You might be a part of the council but that won't protect you so help me God if you ever suggest something like that again!"

"I think you all need to take a step back. Elder Jonathan you were asked here out of respect as a long-standing friend to this family. How in the goddess's name can you come into my brother's mates room and tell him something like that. Roman you know we won't allow what he says to happen."

"He has the pup! If that pup shifts while in his presence he can strip her of her power, and we will all be doomed. Having a witch link the mother and daughter while the pups blood remains in her veins is the only way. I mean you no disrespect Roman, but if ending their lives will save our entire species, I don't see any other option!"

I could hear their voices, but it took a while to work out who was saying what. I wanted to sit up, to tell this so called Elder that not him nor no one was going to touch me. And they certainly weren't going to harm my... pup. My pup... I remember Hades nails slicing into my skin and a forceful push but after that everything goes blank.

Trying to force myself to remember gave me the strength I needed to open my eyes. It took a while before anyone noticed I was awake but when they did Layla ran to get a doctor. The doctor shared the look of surprise that each person in this room held. All except my mate.

As Roman and Layla helped me sit in the bed, I realised it was a hospital one. The moment I was upright I knew something was wrong. I could see my feet. I shouldn't be able to see my feet. Instinctively my hands went to my stomach only to find it flat and incredibly sore to touch.

"Wha... where..." my heartbeat so fast the machine began to go into overdrive. Roman squeezed my hands his eyes streaming. Looking up to Layla, Axel, Hector and an older gentleman they all looked at me with eyes full of pity. "We will get her back Cleo I swear to you!" Romans' forehead leaned against mine but I just pushed him away. I didn't need comfort I needed my daughter.

"Where is she?" I didn't cry even though my words were shaken.

"Hades cut her from you just as Roman found you. I'm so sorry Cleo. Both of you. We will get her back Romans right. We know she's alive because he needs her. Look we will get out of your hair but please Cleo trust us to find her." Without saying another word Layla ushered everyone but Roman from the room.

As the door clicked shut, I pulled the needle from my hand Roman trying to stop me but failing.

"Cleo what are you..."

"Don't finish that sentence, Roman. I can't stay here while she's out there. I need to find her." I winced as I tried to lift myself enough to climb out of bed. My entire body was riddle with pain.

"You can't leave you're not healed enough."

"How much is enough? I'm awake that's what matters." Roman lifted me before placing me back in the bed. "I love you Roman but if you keep me here while she's out there we are over. Do you hear me Roman." I went to try again until Hades words came to the front of my mind. "What did Hades mean when he said you'd betrayed me?"

"Cleo please..."

"TELL ME!"

"I kissed Lucille."
