Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert) -
Chapter 120
Bridget's two-faced nature was something Sylvia knew all too well from their past lives. She could switch from sweet to sour in the blink of an eye, a performance so flawless it could win awards.
In the past, Sylvia would've bent over backwards trying to explain herself, but now she realized dealing with Bridget didn't require such effort. Playing crazy worked just fine.
Sylvia put down her phone, grabbed the steaming coffee pot with a swift turn.
"Got a sharp tongue, huh? Need a scalding to shut it? Ms. Simpson, fancy a taste of madness around here?
I'm risking my paycheck, but you're risking your reputation, and that of the Simpson family and Rupert. Can you afford that?"
Sure enough, the sight of the coffee pot made Bridget's face twitch involuntarily, her foundation almost shaking off. She stepped back, her eyes filled with venom. "Sylvia, don't get too smug. You think you've won? In the end, Rupert will still want me, destroying all the evidence you have. He loves me, and that's why he'd do it. To him, you're just a bit of fun that fell into his lap."
Hearing this, Sylvia clenched her jaw, swallowing back the bitterness that rose in her throat.
Yes. Bridget was right. But she couldn't care less about Rupert's love!
Sylvia smirked, her grip on the pot handle tightening. "Showing your true colors so soon? Scared of me, are we? Don't worry, I'm looking forward to you becoming my dear aunt. Won't that be fun?"
"You!" Bridget couldn't even bother to keep up appearances, glaring at Sylvia. "You better not mess with me, or I'll make sure Rupert destroys you."
Sylvia, still holding the coffee pot, stepped closer, raising it as if to pour. Bridget stood her ground, betting Sylvia wouldn't dare. But her eyes betrayed her fear. Who could be crazier than someone with proof of their insanity?
That was enough for Sylvia. As she poured the coffee, Bridget gasped, but Sylvia merely redirected the pot, filling Bridget's cup instead.
"Bridget, remember this, you wouldn't want to be thrown out of the Garcia family's door next time, would you? Anything else? If not, I've got coffee to make for others."
Sylvia waved her off.
Bridget, seething, stormed off.
She had never lost before!
And she wouldn't lose to Sylvia!
...
When Sylvia came out with the coffee, Bridget slowly stood up.
"Since it's our first day here, why don't I treat everyone tonight? Let's get to know each other better."
Cheers filled the room.
Someone asked, "Ms. Simpson, will Rupert be joining you?"
Bridget looked at Sylvia, smirking triumphantly. "Of course, it was actually his idea to have this dinner."
"Rupert's choice of restaurant must be fancy, right? Where is it?"
"You'll see when we get there."
Bridget kept them guessing.
After work, Bella had to leave
to meet with the traveling Eloise et
A QUON
Eventually, Bridget led everyone to the restaurant - the Paradise Pavilion. FindNovel
One of Rupert's most profitable ventures, it was named after his mother. The entire restaurant was designed with elegant decor, every corner filled with beauty and grandeur. Only the wealthy and influential dined here.
As they arrived, the grandeur of the place awed everyone.
An insider exclaimed, "We're so lucky to be dining at such a high-end place thanks to Ms. Simpson."
Someone nudged them. "Ms. Simpson? More like the future boss lady."
Bridget blushed demurely. "Oh, stop it. It's not like that yet."
As they were speaking, a waiter hurried out, taking Bridget's purse.
"Ms. Simpson, the usual?"
Just that one sentence was enough to show Bridget was not only a regular but also received special treatment here.
With a glance at Sylvia standing aside, Bridget spoke with the poise and grace of a hostess.
"Today's on me. Make sure the chef pays extra attention."
"Of course, your private room is ready."
The waiter led the way, with Bridget giving instructions all along the way, her familiarity impressing everyone.
At the private room's door, she
asked, "Everyone's happy today, right? Why don't we drink a little? I remember Rupert has quite the collection in the wine cellar
