Daddy's Little Whore -
Daddy’s Little Whore – Part 107
KEIRA’s POV
The stifling silence surrounding my dad’s office made it hard for me to breathe. My heart thumped in my chest, anticipating what he would say. My anticipation was also mixed with fear. What exactly was it that Calvin wanted?
My father sighed heavily and leaned back in his chair. “Calvin wants the company, Keira. He is not even asking for a share. He wants the whole thing,” he said. “He believes he is entitled to it because he is my son.”
I frowned. “But I thought you owned the company outright.”
My father nodded. “I do. But Calvin thinks he is to inherit every single piece of it.”
“Why?” I asked, feeling confused.
“Because he is my son,” my father said. “And he thinks he is entitled to everything I have.”
I shook my head in disbelief. “That is not fair.”
“No, it is not,” my father agreed. “But there is more to it than that. I am getting old, Keira. The investors in the company are starting to ask who my successor will be. They want to know who will take over when I retire.”
I looked at my father in surprise. “And you want someone to take over?”
Papa nodded. “It is you, Keira; I have been grooming you for this. That is why I put you through business school.”
I sat back in my chair, eyes wide, overwhelmed by all the information my father gave me. “I had no idea,” I said softly.
Papa wanted me to take over the company? The idea sounded very ludicrous. How was I going to take over my father’s large company? A company he had spent years building? That was impossible for me. I would never be able to manage it as well as he did.
“I know you think you are not qualified for a prestigious position like this,” my father said. “But you are ready for this, Keira. You are smart and capable, and I believe in you.”
I nodded, still feeling stunned. “What about Calvin?” I asked. “Does he not want the company too?”
My father sighed heavily. “Yes, he does. But he is not ready for it, Keira. He is not qualified to run a business like this. And he doesn’t exactly have the same values that we do.”
I nodded in agreement. I could imagine anything but Calvin running a multi-million dollar company. “I suppose you’re not going to give in to him?” I asked.
Papa shook his head. “No, I am not. And I need you to be ready to take over when the time comes. The investors are starting to ask questions, and I need a clear answer for them.”
I gazed at the desk, feeling a sense of responsibility settling on my shoulders. Why was my dad telling me all of this now? And why did he sound so sure I would want to take over his company?
Papa smiled warmly at me. “You do not have to fret about anything. Running a company is easier than it looks. You are taking business classes, so you’ll be fine.
I frowned and raised my eyes up to my dad.
“Papa,” I said, my voice shaky. “I do not think I can do this. Running a company requires more than business class. If Calvin wants the company, he should just have it.”
Papa looked at me, his expression incredulous. “What are you talking about? Look, Keira, I know that running a company takes more than a business school, but I trust you. I know you. And most importantly, I trust you. I believe you’ll make the right decisions for this company,” he sighed, “not just because you’re my daughter but because you’re intelligent, smart, witty, and you won’t do anything that isn’t in the company’s favor” he said
My eyes went wide. Why was Papa this headstrong about giving me the company? But why?
“But what if he does the unthinkable to get the company? He could harm me or, even worse, you, Papa,” I said, my voice rising. ” I don’t know what to do, and the situation makes me anxious. Maybe he will leave me alone, us, if you give him the company.”
Papa’s face hardened. “I will never give in to someone who uses threats and intimidation to get what they want, Keira. Calvin is in no position to run this company. From the look of things, he’ll never be. I won’t let him destroy what I’ve worked so hard to build.”
My heart sunk to the bottom of my chest. I could understand my dad’s point of view. Handing over the company to that maniac was the last thing he wanted to do since he had spent years getting it to where it was.
I sighed and rubbed my temple as it began to ache.
“But what about me, Papa?” I asked, feeling desperate. “What am I supposed to do?”
“But what about me, Papa?” I asked, feeling desperate. “What am I supposed to do?”
Papa’s expression softened. “You are my daughter, Keira. I will do everything in my power to protect you. But giving in to Calvin is not the answer. He will ruin us either way. We will find another way to deal with him.”
I nodded, feeling slightly comforted by my father’s words. But I still could not shake the dread that had settled in my stomach.
“But what exactly can we do? Knowing how Calvin is, he will resort to unspeakable things. Anything to get what he wants.”
My mind flashed back to the accident I had with Natasha. I was grateful to have survived that, but there was no way I could fill Papa in on that info. If I told him about the photo and the accident, he would have me locked up at home until everything was resolved.
Papa let out a frustrated sigh. I could tell that this was bothering him as much as it was bothering me.
“My goal is to negotiate with him. If I can do that, then we win.”
I frowned at him. “But that is not going to be an easy task.”
Papa nodded. “Of course not, but it is our best bet at ending all this madness.”
I nodded solemnly and kept my gaze on him. I had been so worried about myself that I had forgotten what Clint had told me about my father looking more tired and slimmer than usual. I began to worry.
“Dad, what time do you get off work?”
He raised an eyebrow at me. “I was just about to leave when I saw you at the reception.”
My eyes beamed. “Then that is perfect. Why don’t we stop by the hospital on our way home?”
Papa leaned in and looked at me with great concern. “Why? Are you hurt anywhere?”
I shook my head. “It is not for me; it is for you. You have not been looking too good lately.”
My dad waved a hand in front of me.
“I am fine, dear; you do not have to worry about me.”
I frowned at him. I had expected him to shut me down, but I was not about to back down.
“Come on, Papa, just for a full body check-up? Please? I’m worried about you.”
Papa’s eyes softened, and he nodded. “Alright then.”
