Cupid's Arrow hit me hard! -
Chapter 2151
Jane consoled Serenity, "You don't have to worry too much, Seren. I believe Ms. Newman's eyes can be treated as long as Lilian's willing to help. She's the disciple of the miracle healer. She might even outperform him."
Serenity said, "Mm, we all trust Dr. Carden."
Dr. Carden also promised Callum that she would fly to Wiltspoon to treat Camryn's eyes once she resumed visiting patients.
"How are Remy and Elisa doing? He doesn't tell us much about himself, even when we ask him about it. My in-laws hope he and Elisa can be together soon."
Jane changed the topic and asked about her brother-in-law's love life.
"My in-laws wanted to go to Wiltspoon several times, but Remy didn't allow it. He said it wasn't time to meet each other's parents yet. He also hasn't gotten Mrs. Stone's recognition. Therefore, we have no choice but to wait anxiously as there's nothing we can help with."
Upon the mention of Remy and Elisa, Serenity looked frustrated too. She said, "Remy and Elisa's relationship is steady. However, my aunt is still in a dilemma. It's indeed not the time for them to meet each other's parents yet. Remy still has a strong opponent as well."
"Is there a love rival?"
"My aunt doesn't want Elisa marrying off to someone from a distant place. Hence, she chose a few talented local young men and tried to match Elisa with one of them. It made Remy extremely nervous. He and Elisa may need more time before they can officially be together.
"My aunt's an open-minded person, but she's exceptionally stubborn about Elisa's relationship. We're frustrated too. I persuaded her many times, but she never listened."
Serenity sighed. "I'll probably only be able to understand my aunt's insistence when I have a daughter who'll be getting married to someone from a distant place in the future."
To the rest of them, Elisa would still be living in Wiltspoon even after getting married to Remy.
Besides, they would be living next to the Stones. It was as near as it could get.
To Mrs. Stone, however, Remy was from Annenburg. Elisa would have to follow him back to Annenburg if she married him. Although traveling was convenient and required only a short time by plane, Mrs. Stone was still reluctant.
She said it would be difficult to meet her daughter after she got older and had mobility issues.
Serenity did ask her aunt whether she wanted Remy to marry into the Stone family. Her aunt answered that Remy was the Johnson family's young master. How could she let Remy be a live-in son-in-law? Besides, her aunt already had two sons.
The identity of a live-in son-in-law always left a poor impression on people. Most men refused to be live-in sons-in-law.
If Remy had originated from an ordinary family, Mrs. Stone might really have suggested that he marry into the Stone family. However, he was a wealthy family's young master. The Johnsons were also considered the noblest wealthy family in Annenburg.
Even if Remy was willing to be a live-in son-in-law, how could his parents allow it?
Anyway, Mrs. Stone was overthinking and could not come to a decision.
She only started thinking that Remy was more suited for her daughter after Julian started wooing Elisa. Therefore, her attitude toward Remy improved slightly.
Jane smiled and said, "It's always difficult for parents to let an only daughter move to a distant place after marriage. They won't be able to bear it even if they have many daughters. When the parents are younger, they won't think the distance is a problem as they can take an airplane.
"However, as they grow older and lose the strength to walk, meeting their daughter becomes difficult. It'd be great if the daughter married a good husband despite needing to move. However, if she were to entrust herself to the wrong person, no one could help her.
"She might not even have the transportation fees required to return to her parent's home. There would be nowhere she could go if her in-laws bullied her and chased her out of the house late at night. "Strictly speaking, I also moved after marriage. Annenburg is too far from Meadspring that traveling to and fro is a hassle. Most of the time, my parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law would fly from Meadspring to visit me. It was much easier for me to return to my family before giving birth to my children.
"Now that I have two children, I rarely return to visit my family in Meadspring. My situation is better as I have two sides to return to. My parents and eldest brother are in Annenburg, so it's convenient for me to visit them. I also have many cousins and they're great support for us daughters who've married into our husband's family."
